Chapter 5

Melissa's POV

He asked me to be his daughter's nanny. I am still having a hard time comprehending what he said. Double the salary as an assistant, that is a lot. He sure knows how to drive a hard bargain. Let me weigh my choices. I stood up from the couch and grabbed a pen and book.

Pros

1)Doubled salary and girl, that is rich

2)You get to pay off all your debts and get rid of Ben

3)You get to spend time with that extremely cute baby

Cons

1)You could get attached to her Melissa and that is not meant to happen. Worse, you could get attached to the father too.

Would you look at that? I had just one cons and three pros. I don't know anymore. What the hell am I supposed to do? They is a high chance that I won't get the job as an assistant. I mean I wasn't the only one that applied for the position and I am not even blonde. 

I think he only employs blonds.

I mean I only saw blondes when I went to his office. Being a blonde will definitely be one of his criteria of choosing an employee.

"What am I going to do now, Molly?" I asked Molly who was busy eating another shoe. She raised her head up at the sound of my voice and barked once then continued eating my shoe that damn dog.

I can't afford to be his baby nanny, I mean what if I get attached. After I lost my.....

I made my way to the kitchen and started preparing noodles. I would have loved to eat something other than that but I cannot cook any other food without burning the kitchen down. My mum used to chase me out of the kitchen anytime I asked to help her out. I still can't make noodles well, no matter how hard I tried it always comes out soggy, and look like the size of a huge earthworm. 

Don't you dare laugh!

When the noodles was done, I didn't bother with plate. I ate it directly from the pot. Bad habit, I know. 

But hey, who cares?

I decided to watch a movie.

"Which one should we watch, Molly?" I asked flipping through the movies in the little living room. I decided on Anabelle. 

"Let us watch this, shall we Molly? The darn dog didn't even bark in response. I guess eating my shoe was more important than listening to me.

I was halfway through the movie when my phone started ringing but I ignored it. It must be all those spam calls. Besides I didn't know of anybody that can cal me. Yeah I know, I am such a social butterfly. I tried to ignore it but the person was persistent okay.

I finally unplugged my phone and answered the call

" What is the point of using a phone if you can't answer it, Miss Brooks?" Even if I was sleeping I would be able to recognize that voice anytime. Yeah you guessed right, it is Mr hot stuff

"I was busy" I replied.

I can't exactly tell him that I chose to ignore the calls.

There was a pause then "I just wanted to inform you that if you do decide to be my baby's nanny, you will have to stay in my home. In short words, you will be a live-in nanny" he said and I wasn't surprised he said that

"Okay, Mr Edwards" I replied

"And one more thing Miss Brooks, you have 24hrs to think about this. And try to answer your phone early next time" He added

"Okay sir" I replied and he hung up

He frigging hung up from on me. No goodnight. Nothing. Nada.

A live in nanny, not bad. I get to sleep with that cutie every night. Get your mind out of the gutter, I meant the baby not the father.

You still haven't decided to take his offer, Melissa.

"Melissa" Ben hooted

I swear that man should be arrested for disturbing the peace of this neighborhood. I grumbled a little and hit the pause button on the remote before standing up to answer the door.

I opened the door and closed it behind me

"What is it this time Ben?" I asked him and he laughed. 

Even his laughter is creepy...it makes my skin crawl.

"Just a reminder Melissa. You know, about your rent and... My offer" he leered giving me that stupid look again.

"Your offer will never happen Ben" I replied

He laughed " You do look good tonight Melissa" he slurred and I realized that I was just wearing an extremely short shorts and a bralet 

I lost it at that. 

 "You know what you disgusting pig. I will surely pay you your money before Saturday and move out of your damn house. Disgusting old fool" I screamed at him and entered my apartment locking the door immediately

Molly was there looking at me warily " Please tell me I didn't say that to him Molly" Molly barked in response and I guess that was all the answer I needed.

What have you done, Melissa. Now Ben won't spare you at all.

I guess you have to take that job now..
