Chapter 4

Melissa's POV 

My alarm rang at exactly 7oclock in the morning. I can't wake up earlier than that, if I wake up earlier than that then I would look like a vampire. I swear I love my sleep. I freshened up and tied my robe. I made my coffee just the way I like it very sugary and very creamy. Don't hate. I believe coffee is meant to be enjoyed, I don't understand why people drink coffee black and not sugary. I mean is there any joy in that but like I said don't hate. So I am not going to judge. I fed Molly her treat and started getting ready for my interview.

I wore a black body hug gown and a white blazers and I paired it with my red pumps. I applied some lip gloss and eyeliner, that is virtually the only make up I can apply correctly. I grabbed my bag from the rack and I also grabbed a coat. We never can tell how the weather decides to treat us. It was already 8oclock by the time I was through. I was still safe. It is just thirty minutes drive from my place to my future work place.

Fingers crossed. 

I grabbed my car keys and I waved Molly bye. I locked the door behind me.

Well here goes nothing.. I hope today turns out well

I entered the company's building and I was going to greet Barbie good morning but she just waved me off. I guess I won't be greeting her in the future. I used the card Barbie gave me yesterday to access the elevator.

Today was different, there was no baby cries. It was actually silent and sparklingly clean. There was nothing out of place here. Looking at it now, I almost believed yesterday episode didn't happen. I made my way to the secretary's table.

"Good morning, how can I help you?" She asked in an overly sugary voice. What is with all the workers here.

"Morning, I am here for the interview" I replied and she eyed me.

"Miss Brooks?" She asked

One and only

"Yes, that is me" I replied

"I will just inform Mr Edwards you are here" She said and picked up the telephone.

The mention of his name gave me goosebumps. I couldn't help but worry. I wasn't rude to him right?I didn't say anything I wasn't meant to say right? 

It really doesn't matter Melissa.

"He is ready to see you,Miss Brooks" Barbie 2 said, indicating at the closed door that was on her left.

"Thank you" I replied and walked away from her table. I wasn't sure if I should knock. I mean Barbie already informed him that I was here.

Just knock Brooks

I knocked the door and opened it without waiting for a reply. The space was bigger than my whole apartment. The walls were made of glass and it had the perfect view of the city. Everything on here, down to the furniture was plain white that I felt like my presence alone might leave a mark. I focused my attention back to the real reason I was here.

"Good morning sir" I greeted as politely as I could, I even made my voice a little sugary.

"Good morning to you too, Miss Brooks. Seeing as you are not the least bit shocked to see me, I presume you have done your research." He said

I nodded "Yes sir, I am sorry for not recognising you and I apologize if I said anything wrong yesterday." I said even though I didn't feel the least bit sorry. I needed to clear the air so I know that whatever I might have said yesterday won't hinder my chance of getting the job.

"It is fine, Miss Brooks. Please take your sit." He said pointing at the chair directly in front of him. I sat down carefully making sure I didn't touch the white seat. I mean who uses white furniture in an office?

"You applied for the position of my personal assistant" I figured he wasn't asking but I replied anyway

"Yes sir" 

"You attended Harvard?" He asked like he was shocked. I don't blame him. I would be shocked too if I wasn't me.

I never really cared about my education in Harvard but it was a really big deal for my dad so I had no other choice.

"Yes sir"

"Why did you choose my company?" He asked

"Because I needed a job. Besides your company has great potentials and I think it will be a good working experience, don't let me forget the fact that it will look good on my CV." I said truthfully. I might have been too truthful.

He nodded warily "I have an offer for you Miss Brooks and I need you to think about it before saying no to me" He said and I got worried. He wouldn't ask me to kill someone for him right? Do I look like an assassin? 

Shut up Melissa and you really need to story watching those movies you watch.

"Okay sir" I finally said.

"You met my daughter Lucy already...."

"Yes and she is really cute" I interrupted him

He nodded "Thanks. I need a nanny for my daughter and I need one urgently..."

I interrupted again" Why are you telling me this sir? Do you want me to search for embassies for you?"

He shook his head" Just let me talk, Miss Brooks and please try not to interrupt." He said and I nodded in reply.

"I have tried the embassy but no one is willing to be my baby's nanny. Truth be told she has gone through a total of ten nannies in just one month." He paused

Ten nannies in one month. Just wow Lucy 

"Nobody sticked around for up to three days with her and I am in a really tight situation here. That is why I want to ask you to be my baby's nanny." I didn't see that coming. What the hell does he mean by be his baby's nanny? I don't look like a nanny material right? And I am very sure I applied for the post of an assistant. So why the hell is he asking me to be his daughter nanny?

"Can you repeat that?" I asked him

"I am asking you to be my daughter's nanny." He said slowly this time

"I don't understand... Why me?" I asked

"Because you were really good with her yesterday and it looked like you know your way around babies." He said

I knew yesterday episode will still come back and bite me in the ass

"Yeah but... I am not a nanny" I tried to explain. I wasn't even sure what to say to the man.

"I know. Here is the catch, I will pay you double the amount your salary as a personal assistant." He said and that was when I realized he has really thought about it.

"What happens if I refuse?" I asked

"You will still be up for consideration for the post of my assistant which is not guaranteed that you will be selected. But if you do accept and later on you decide you can't handle Lucy there will be a job waiting for you here in my company." He replied. 

Cunny bastard, he knows just how attractive his offer is.

It couldn't be that difficult to babysit a 9months old baby right?

"You don't have to give me your answer immediately you can go home and think about it" Edwards interrupted my thoughts

I nodded eagerly "I would like that"

He handed me his business card "Call me when you make your decision. Until tomorrow, Miss Brooks." He said 

Well you just got dismissed Melissa. Get your ass out of his office.

"Have a nice day sir" I said and walked out without waiting for a reply.

I do hope you have a nice day Mr Edwards because you just ruined my "nice day" with that offer of yours
