Chapter 3
Author: MeenahJavier's POV
I had to go back home early today because of my daughter. That woman said she was teething, she managed to calm her down in no time but an hour after she left, Lucy started crying again and wouldn't stop no matter how much I tried to persuade her. I put her teether in her mouth and she stopped crying for the total of five minutes and started crying all over again. You must be wondering why I took her along to the office, well my lovely daughter one day old nanny quit just this morning. She claimed that my daughter was too much for her to handle. I don't understand what was too much to handle about a nine month old girl.
In the last month she has gone through a total of ten nannies, all of them saying the same thing about my daughter. When the last nanny quit this morning I called the embassy but they weren't willing to send a nanny over. They said all the other nannies claimed that my daughter was too much to handle. And after what happened today, I can honestly say Lucy was too much to handle. She wouldn't stop crying. The only time she doesn't cry is when she is eating.
And when that woman held her.
Now she has gone to bed after a very long shower. I didn't even know she loved to play in her bath. We spent over thirty minutes in the shower with Lucy splashing water all over my body. I was practically soaked by the time she was done with bathing. I rocked her for another thirty minutes before she finally fell asleep and I put her to bed. And now I am spending my peaceful moment in my study trying to get some work done.
How the hell am I going to cope tomorrow? I have to take her along to the office again. I can't keep this up for even up to a week.
What the hell am I going to do?
Then it hit me, Miss Brooks. I picked my phone and dialed the receptionist number. She answered on the third ring.
"Mr Edwards" she greeted.
"Sorry to disturb you Miss Stone, Can I get information about the woman that came for the interview today?" I asked
"What will you like to know sir?" She asked
"Her full name and age and her marital status too.” I replied.
"Okay sir, please hold on" I heard some kind of noise, I guess she was flipping through a book.
"Found it. Melissa Brooks and she is 24 years old" she replied
"Is she married? Engaged?" I asked
"No sir, it states here that she is single." She replied
"Thanks for your help Miss stone" I said
"No problem sir. Goodnight sir." She replied and I didn't bother to reply I just hung up. I can't afford to get familiar with my employees. I keep everything professional with every single one of them.
Melissa Brooks. You must be wondering why I asked for her information. I think congratulations is in order. I found a nanny for my daughter. Now all I have to do is convince her to take the position. I have to make sure she won't be able to refuse.
You really shouldn't have left so soon Gabriella.
My phone saved me from going too deep into the past.
"Hello there Josephine" I greeted my little sister.
"When will you start calling me Sophia like everyone does, Javi?" She asked. She always asks this question and the answer has always been the same never.
"You know the answer to that Josephine. Now tell me why you are calling by this time of the night" I said.
She scoffed "Can't wait to get rid of me brother? I wonder why. Am I interrupting something?" She asked.
"Josephine" I warned.
"Okay fine, I called to check up on you and Lucy." she said.
"We are fine" I replied. There was no point telling her about Lucy tantrums.
"I don't think so. A little birdie told me that your nanny quit this morning and you had to take Lucy along to your work place." She said in a sing song manner.
"Joseph is such a girl" I muttered.
"He isn't. He just can't keep anything from his twin sister." She defended him.
"Yeah. Keep defending him. I swear Joseph was meant to be a girl. The both of you switched gender." I said.
"Yeah whatever. Don't try to change the topic. Tell me how was your day?" She asked.
"It was fine. Apart from the fact that Lucy is teething and she wouldn't stop crying" I finally confided in her. There was no point hiding it now...all thanks to that twin brother of hers.
"Poor thing. I remember when Anna's baby was teething too. She wouldn't stop crying" Josephine said.
"I don't know if you are trying to make me feel better or not, because let me tell, you aren't helping at all." I replied.
She laughed "Don't worry big brother, it gets better. Have you tried to get a nanny?"
"I tried but nobody is willing to be my daughter's nanny."
She laughed again "That is rich. Lucy isn't that stubborn. Such a sweet girl, that one.” She said.
"That is what you think but just try to spend a day with her and you will feel like pulling your hair out" I replied
"Oh my poor brother. Lucy took after her mother" she said but I was saved from answering that when Lucy's cry rang through the house.
"Sorry Josephine but I have to cut our little chat short. My lovely daughter needs my attention now" I said.
She laughed "Okay. Good night and goodluck with that little champ" she said
"Goodnight Josephine" I replied and hung up.
I wonder why she is crying this time. I entered her room. I swear it always hurts to enter this room sometimes. It reminded me of Ella. I picked my baby up and she quieted for a while and started all over again. I checked her diapers and realized that she had soiled it. I changed it and put her teether in her mouth.
I sat on the rocking chair and started rocking her back to sleep.
Just one more day Javier. You can do this

(A/N): I forgot to add this at the beginning of the story. Please don’t feed your kids too much chocolates and ice-creams. It could be detrimental to they health. I know I used it a lot in this book but that is only because the book is a fiction and as you know not everything is real.Enjoy☺️
