Chapter 4 Truly a Pretense

Author: Daxiao Xie
“Another hospital? This is the best hospital in Golden Sands! Where else do you want me to go?” said the middle-aged man.

“Go to the capital city. That place holds the highest of standards in the medical field,” said Old Rob as he crossed his arms and prepared to walk away.

He had never seen such an ailment before. She was fine but remained unconscious.

Just as Old Rob turned around, a discontented, disgruntled voice rang in his ears.

“Looks like even the Head Physician is nothing.”

Old Rob turned around immediately. Link was staring at him in a derisive manner which boiled Old Rob’s blood.

“You’re just a guard. Do what you’re supposed to do or I will have Director Rayleigh fire you!” Old Rob blared. His eyes glinted with a spark of discontent.

“You’re just another overrated, cheating quack. You’re just the same as your nephew here. Both hacks! Pair of dumbasses!” Link scolded aloud.

“What?!”

Old Ron’s entire body shook. After so many years of treating patients. he had never once been called a dumbass, what more by a brat!

He bellowed in return.

“Very well! If you can treat Miss Sullivan, I will leave this place!”

“It doesn’t matter to me if you leave or not. But, I’ll show you how I can get Miss Sullivan to wake up,” said Link as he threw a look at the middle-aged man, hinting him to be quick about it.

The man gritted his teeth and went out immediately to fetch a cat and some milk.

The situation having taken such a path, there was nothing else Old Rob could do except walk the mile, even if he thought it hopeless.

“If a cat and some milk could treat a patient, it would be the greatest joke ever!” Old Rob snorted.

James Lindt chimed in and said, “Old Rob is right. If he can treat the girl, I will run three laps around the hospital naked.”

“Hehe! You’ll soon understand. Both of you don’t deserve to be doctors,” said Link as he glanced at Minerva Sullivan who still lay on the bed, apparently unconscious.

One thing was for sure. Miss Sullivan was a natural beauty. Her skin was flawless and fair, like white jade. Her eyes, albeit shut, accentuated the curves of her thick eyelashes. The one-piece dress, clean and minimalistic was plastered to her skin, revealing her well-endowed figure. Her fair legs were exposed, only a little, but just enough to incite a person’s wild imagination.

However, the biscuit crumbs on the tip of her fingers gave away something.

.

“Miss Sullivan, snacking on biscuits alone isn’t nutritious enough for you. Wake up and go have something nice for yourself,” said Link with a smile on his face. Minerva Sullivan's finger twitched a little.

Not long after, the middle-aged man returned, drenched in sweat.

“Cat. Milk. I’ve got them.”

Link nodded and walked to the girl’s feet and slowly removed her footwear.

“What are you doing?” said the middle-aged man, surprised.

“Treating. Don’t worry about it. Trust me,” said Link solemnly.

“From the looks of it, he’s just taking the opportunity to touch her,” said James with clear jealousy. Miss Minerva Sullivan epitomized beauty. One would kill to have a chance to even get close to her.

Link turned a deaf ear to the rest of them and removed Minerva Sullivan’s shoes. Her feet, small and fair, were so adorable that one would have to fight himself to release them.

Link took a deep breath and took milk to his side. He poured them over her feet and picked the cat up.

When the cat took in the intoxicating scent of milk, it started to lick her feet.

At that point, both Old Rob and James Lindt were still expressing nothing but disdain. They were assuming Link might have some special treatment method but…

That being said, what happened next shocked both of them to their core. Both could not fathom what happened after.

Loud laughter burst out and not only was Minerva Sullivan awake, but she also reached for her legs, laughing about girlishly as she said, “Ahahaha! I’m done! I can’t keep it up any longer! It’s ticklish!”

What happened?

The middle-aged man failed to understand what was happening then. Did he just wake her up, just like that?

However, after listening to Minerva's accidental confession, he understood what had taken place. She was truly fine, without any ailments. She was merely pretending.

That was the perfect, literal example of the phrase: One can never wake up a person who pretends to sleep.

“It’s done. Miss Minerva Sullivan is now awake. However, don’t feed her solid food just yet,” Link gave his advice, “at most, you should drink just water and some vitamin C.”

The middle-aged man nodded and brought some water and vitamin C pills for her to consume.

James Lindt’s face turned awkward. He was embarrassed. However, he turned it around with a loud laugh.

“You did well, Link! We both knew that she was merely pretending. We just wanted to give you a chance to prove yourself.”

Old Rob caught on immediately and joined the fray.

“You should come and work under our department,” said Old Rob as he gestured invitingly.

“This is my first time seeing someone like yourself! How shameless!” Link warned. “To think that someone would instantly forget what they said earlier…”

He was naturally pointing at James Lindt saying he would run around naked and Old Rob quitting the hospital.

Both of them had never expected Link to wake her up and what more, using such a simple method. How would they save their own dignities, then?

“I am the Head Physician of Golden Sands Hospital! You should feel honoured to be able to work under my wing!” said Old Rob. It was an opportunity that not many came across.

“Your wing? Please, you're not worth that much!” said Link. After obtaining the inheritance of the Lewis bloodline and having a hundred and eight masters, Link would have stood several if not hundreds of ranks above Old Rob.

“Behave yourself or leave this place!” Old Rob shouted as he pointed towards the exit.

Link scoffed coldly. He stripped the guard uniform and tossed it to the ground hard.

“I’ve had it enough! I quit!”

Link turned around and walked out with large paces.

“You…” Old Rob growled, shaking with anger.

“Old Rob, ignore that brat. Miss Sullivan is awake and that’s enough,” said James as he glanced at Minerva Sullivan. His eyes glinted with passion.

Minerva Sullivan was no more than twenty years of age. She was so beautiful, with skin as fair like snow, brimming with youth.

At that point, Minerva was only angry and nothing else. She pulled her shoe on and admonished coldly, “Who asked you to wake me up!”

“Miss Sullivan, we only did it for your own good,” said James with a flirtatious smile.

“For my own good? You should have let me sleep! Get out! All of you!” Minerva shouted, rather coquettishly.

“Ehm…” James was speechless. He turned to Old Rob immediately.

Old Rob came before her and said, “Miss Minerva, is there something troubling you? You wouldn’t pretend to be sick if everything is fine, would you?”

“It’s none of your business,” Minerva said as she turned her head away. Her eyes were pouring out some strong emotions.

“Miss Sullivan, whatever it is, you cannot continue pretending. Sooner or later, you will only harm yourself. Know that you were born with a weaker than average constitution,” said Old Rob.

As soon as he was done talking, Minerva’s gut made a loud growling noise. She was famished.

Old Rob laughed and turned to James Lindt.

“Go get something to eat nearby. Get something for Miss Sullivan to eat.”

The middle-aged man suddenly chimed in, his expression changing.

“Old Rob, that guard from earlier, he said the mistress should not be eating anything yet.”

“Hmph. He is just an intern. Would you believe his words?” Old Rob bellowed.

“Ah! That’s true! He’s not even a guard in this hospital anymore. Haha. Miss Sullivan, perhaps we should go and have a real meal. I know a place with great seafood. I’ll get them for you.”

James Lindt would not let go of the opportunity to socialize with Minerva Sullivan. He headed to a nearby seafood market and ordered a bunch of takeout meals.

Minerva Sullivan scoffed coldly at the sight of those takeout meals, but she was famished. She picked up a small baby lobster and bit into it.

It had been days since she had a meal, and the baby lobster was incredibly delicious. She ended up eating more than half of that dish.

Not long after, Minerva's entire body went stiff. Her lips turned purple and her entire body started to spasm. White foam came out from her mouth and her eyes rolled all the way back. She fell back to the bed, unmoving.

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 29 Palm Reading

When he heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom, Link tried to hold his breath and tip-toed over to the bathroom. Over the frosted glass of the bathroom walls emerged a slender silhouette. At the bathroom door hung a pair of stockings; an obvious indication of the person’s sloppiness. A moment later, the silhouette turned around and suddenly turned off the water. “Hmm? I think I left the new bathroom I just bought in the room…” A clear voice was heard and the silhouette in the bathroom moved around. Kachak! And the bathroom door was flung open. Link had not expected the person inside the bathroom to suddenly open the door. Additionally, when the door was flung open, there was a naked girl walking out from the bathroom without reservation. Link’s eyes practically popped out of their sockets. Her beautiful snow-white skin, her slender body figure, and that nosebleed-inducing pair of legs… Link Lewis felt his nose almost burst with blood. At that moment, when t

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 28 Someone Here?

“Mr. Thomas Sullivan himself gave the keys to me. If you don’t believe it, you can make a call to confirm that,” said Link coolly. There were many properties in Jingle’s Peak and they were assets of the Sullivan Enterprise. That was the reason why it was impossible for them to not know who Thomas Sullivan was. “That is the biggest joke I’ve ever heard. How could someone like you know President Sullivan?” Supervisor Garcia said with disdain. The bald manager looked all suspicious. In the end, to make things clear, he decided to call Thomas Sullivan. Not several words later, the manager had a frozen look on his face. He ended the call after repeatedly saying “yes”. A look of respect was immediately worn and he came to Link Lewis like a lackey whilst sweating cold sweat. Trembling and shakily, he said, “Mr. Lewis, President Sullivan has declared the villa is yours. Naturally, you are allowed to change to another if you are unsatisfied with this one.” “Brother-in-law, it’s impossi

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 27 Claiming The Villa

Link laughed when he saw how Sheila got angry and severe. He changed his mind and said, “Fine then. I got bored and came here for sight-seeing. Is that better?” “That’s better. As long as you repent. We are still students, you know?” Sheila scoffed and smiled before she nodded contentedly. Link Lewis rubbed his nose. To think that no one would believe him when he told the truth. “Uhm? Why are you here?” Link tried to initiate a conversation as they walked. “I’m here for my internship. This is my job for my internship. I’m supposed to help Jingle’s Peak Project sell their villas. If I could sell even one of them, I would earn tens of thousands in commission. That being said, I’ve still not managed to sell any…” She turned gloomy as she talked. Even though one could claim a high amount of commission from selling villas, the villas in Jingle’s Peak were something else entirely. No common folk could afford them. Some salespeople could not even manage to sell a single unit aft

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 26 Would You Die If You Didn’t Boast?

Sheila Reinhardt wore a simple floral pattern dress. The sight of her fair skin and beautiful face froze Link up. To be honest, she was too beautiful. When Link sat with her, he would always feel like society’s trash. Someone as dull and drab as he could never have any sort of relationship with her. Hence, when she proactively called out to greet him, Link answered somewhat dubiously. “How coincidence. I’d never thought I would sit on the same bus as you.” “Link Lewis, how is your internship going? I heard that you have submitted your internship report,” said Sheila Reinhardt as she squeezed through the crowd to get closer to him. A faint aromatic fragrance gently came before him and Link’s breathing suddenly became tense. Especially when she accidentally touched his arms. Her smooth, almost porcelain-like skin felt like silk to the touch. Link immediately sensed something off. Sheila Reinhardt had never once initiated a conversation with him. Why would she suddenly start t

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 25 Jennifer’s Thoughts

From the entrance of the seminar and his forcing out, Link Lewis had walked quite a distance. He was, wholeheartedly, following the words of the inheritance. However, he was still helpless when it came to other people’s failure to understand, as well as cold stares. At that moment, Jennifer Rayleigh caught up to him in her car. She looked particularly agitated. She parked her car in front of Link Lewis, lowering her phone. Excitedly, she said, “Link Lewis! That old man was saved! It was because of your medicine!” “Mhm. That’s good,” said Link after hearing the news, feeling a little happy. “Come, get in the car. Mr. Hawking wants you to return. He said he wanted to award the seminar’s first place to you,” said Jennifer happily. She brought Link Lewis to that medical seminar simply to attend it. She would never have expected him to get kicked out of the seminar. Neither did she expect the five doctors calling after her and with utmost respect, inviting him back to receive an awa

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 24 No One Else Deserve The First Place

“Someone, come and set up the Antibiotic I.V infusion!” “Yes, sir.” One of the western medicine practitioners waved his staff over and instantly, an assistant came prepared with the bag of saline and antibiotic readied. With precision and familiarity, the assistant inserted the infusion needle into the old man’s blood vessel. As the fluid dripped and slowly entered the old man’s body, the young man grew anxious. He was afraid that something bad might happen. Not long after the antibiotic fluid entered the old man’s body, the old man’s pale complexion had traces of reddish hue. Not long after that, the old man opened his eyes slowly. It appeared that he was no longer in much pain. The young man could not help but let out a long sigh. He hurried to his father’s side and said, “Father, how are you feeling now?” The old man did not say anything. The four western medicine practitioners smiled and they said, “Young man, your father should be fine now. You can now relax.” “Old m

All-Seeing Doctor   Chapter 23 Doubt

Link Lewis’ sudden cry stunned everyone. All fell silent. Who were the people attending to the old man? They were the four greatest western medicine practitioners in Golden Sands and a master of the eastern medicine practitioner who inherited his medical skill from the royal palace. They had rea

“Sister… I… Well…” Gale tried to finish explaining, but when he saw his sister’s icy glare, he shrunk before her and swallowed his words. He raised his head to the crowd, only to be assaulted by strange gazes. At that moment, his face burned hotly. He clenched his fists and glared at Link Lewis.

The four western medicine practitioners and Richard Hawking nodded. To be impartial, all of them examined Link Lewis’ body. In the end, they turned to the audience and announced their result. “Gale Rayleigh’s diagnosis is accurate.” The audience nodded in agreement after the five figures of au

Link focused and scanned the patient. He then plainly spoke, “He has kidney stones on just one of his kidneys. There’s nothing else to be said about it.” “Hmph! You didn’t even examine him. How could you be sure?” said Gale. He was disgruntled and discontented. He then said coldly, “Or could it be
