Chapter 11 La Bohème

“Who was that girl? Who is she to you?” Jennifer Rayleigh asked. When she came out of the main hall, she saw the complex emotions in her eyes. “A previous attachment,” said Link Lewis plainly. He had nothing but disappointment for Mary Macbeth, made evident when he did not even spare her a parting glance. “Why did you break up? I saw how she looked earlier. She seemed reluctant to leave.” “She’s been with another second-rate rich man since I was the poor boy. Just now, she just got dumped by the rich man…” Link explained as he laughed for a bit before shaking his head. He had failed to realize that Mary Macbeth was a materialistic person. Jenniffer Rayleigh came to a realization. She walked up to a white Porsche and said, “Get on.” “Where to?” Without anyone seeing, Link was speechless when he saw the car that cost several million dollars. She was truly a rich woman. “Let’s go to La Bohème then. It’s quieter and more sublime there.” Jennifer pressed the gas and the c

Chapter 12 Blue and White Porcelain Pot

Terrence Ford? Link’s eyelids twitched. The man was a famous president for a pharmaceutical company in Golden Sands. It was said that all hospitals in Golden Sands got their drugs from his company. Even the ones used in universities, the ones that Link used during experiments, were provided by Ford. The man’s fame was not negligible in the slightest. “Jennifer, it’s been a while. When I heard that you came here, I took off immediately just to come here and see you. How are you lately?” Terrence Ford greeted Jennifer Rayleigh with a warm smile. He held a box in his hands. “Didn’t I say never to disturb me again?” Jennifer asked as her beautiful brows arched. “Jennifer, give me a chance. Yes, I have been divorced but I have worked three years to get to your heart. Isn’t this enough as proof of my sincerity?” Terrence Ford said. His behaviour was sincere. “I’m sorry. I do not like to repeat myself.” Jennifer turned away, ignoring him. Terrence Ford, on the other hand, contin

Chapter 13 Hidden Compartment

Terrence Ford was stunned for a moment before he burst out in anger. “What you did there was pure luck! Do you really think you are a master in appraising antiquities? What is a university student still playing around here for?” Mr. Fang laughed as he shook his head. “One only needs to know about art and style to dab into ancient delftware. What a person does and is, plays no role in that matter.” Those who could dine in La Bohème were those only those with power and wealth in Golden Sands. And now that Mr. Fang himself had spoken, Terrence Ford would only be offending him if he continued to bother Link Lewis. “Here. You want to see it that much, here it is. It’s not like you could spot another flower on it,” Terrence Ford said disgruntledly as he simply tossed the pot towards him. Link caught the flower pot and held it close to his ears. He shook it a little and made a happy face. The flower pot was undoubtedly an imitation but it was still a unique product. When Terre

Chapter 14 The Vicious Terrence

Five million? Link got very excited. He had never thought the item would have such high value. The onlookers were shocked. The product of forgery was about to be smashed and just after being passed to Link, the item of forgery turned into a precious treasure. “Mr. Fang, do you really want to buy this?” Link asked. “I’m serious. Actually, five million isn’t enough. I am still in your debt as this rouge box is worth far greater.” At that moment, Mr. Fang took out a membership card along with a name card that had seen better days and passed it to Link. “This is the Diamond membership card for La Bohème. You can now enjoy all our products and services free of charge. Additionally, do not hesitate to call me if you have any trouble.” It was obvious, by his actions, Mr. Fang was in love with the box, as well as the value and uniqueness of it. As for Link, five million was more than enough for him. He could take care of his grandfather until the end. Most importantly, he was j

Chapter 15 Revenge

The medicine conference was a yearly event held in Golden Sands City. Those who attended the conference were great doctors. The university had organized a tour for students to visit it. Link had never expected to actually participate in the conference.Without hesitation, Link Lewis agreed to join. Contented, Jennifer Rayleigh nodded. After that, she bit her lips and said, “What happened today… Well… thank you.” After she delivered the words bashfully, she did not wait for him to reply and drove off immediately. Link was stunned. When she showed her bashful look, it felt like he was looking at a field of beautiful blooming azaleas during March. Link was a little dazed for a moment. He shook his head and walked towards the gate entrance. All of a sudden, something moved in front of him. Five men blocked his way. All of them were smiling coldly and filled with malice. The one standing in the lead was a fat man with a scary look. He threw a look of contempt and said, “Boy, come wi

Chapter 16 Medical Seminar

Terrence Ford made himself a cup of coffee and waited a while longer. He had not expected a call from the fat man himself. Excited, Terrence picked up the call. “Fatty, has the kid been dealt with?” “Mr. Ford, where are you right now? I… I need…” the fat man stuttered. “What are you blabbering about? Speak properly!” Terrence roared, annoyed. The fat man was surrounded by police officers and had a gun pointed to his head. How could he not stutter then? He took in a deep breath and did as the police officer said. “Mr. Ford. I need to meet you. Where are you now? Can I come over?” “Oh. I see that you want to claim your prize. No need to beat around the bush. I am at the office right now. Send your men over to claim your prize.” Terrence hung up the phone after. He had assumed something else. Immediately, he felt good. His mood was elevated. He thought he would wait for the fat man to arrive and ask for details on how he taught Link a lesson. He had also told the fat man t

Chapter 17 The Enraged Gale Rayleigh

Even though the man was extending an invite, the tonality and mannerism of a prideful person were clearly shown. Link answered flippantly. “No need. I will also be attending the seminar.” “You will be attending?” Gale Rayleigh was shocked but instantly rebounded with disdain, “Link Lewis, what are you bragging about? I am the only one from the university approved to take part in the medical seminar. And now you’re saying that you will be going… Please don’t say things that will make yourself look bad.” Golden Sands University only arranged for one excellent student to attend the seminar and Gale Rayleigh was naturally qualified for it. The medical seminar was the most prestigious academic seminar with extremely limited seatings. Gale Rayleigh could not believe Link's claim of attending the event. Link smiled and said nothing. He was not representing the university in the seminar. When Link remained silent, Gale Rayleigh, discontentedly said, “Link Lewis, to be honest, no

Chapter 18 I Hope To Include Two Words

“That’s how my brother is, I hope you could forgive him.” Jennifer Rayleigh apologized after she parked the car after arriving at the entrance of the medical seminar. “It’s all good. Gale’s medical skill is good and he ranks amongst the best for every year,” said Link. He had not expected Jennifer to apologize. He then did a hand gesture to dismiss the issue. “Mhm. I hope this wouldn’t affect you in doing your part in the seminar.” Jennifer Rayleigh held the medical seminar in high priority. She was not one to care about fame but Golden Sands Hospital was a famous hospital. At the very least, they would have to have someone convincing. No need for over the top, shocking talent but at least they would not be the topic of the butt of joke. The two entered the seminar hall and many were already seated. Link did a quick glance and counted at least two hundred people. There were familiar faces amongst them. People that had appeared on the local Golden Sands channel, newspaper, a

Chapter 19 Medical Competition

When the clapping stopped, Richard Hawking could not help but stand. He cleared his throat and turned to the other four doctors and said, “Esteemed western medicine practitioner, what the young boy said, was something I have always kept in the back of my head. Hence, the next time the banner is made, please do not be biased.” “Ugh… That must have been the work of the banner maker to cut costs…” “That’s right. I remembered telling them to add the two words “Eastern Medicine” in the banner. They must have forgotten.” “Next time, Mr. Hawking. Rest assured that the next banner will not have such a mistake.” The four western medicine practitioners said awkwardly. They could only wish there was a hole for each of them to hide in. Richard Hawking nodded and said, “To be honest, everyone should know clearly that the comparison between eastern and western medicine practice is misaligned. The reason is not because the western practice is better, but the knowledge of current eastern med

Chapter 20 Diagnosing Each Other

Link focused and scanned the patient. He then plainly spoke, “He has kidney stones on just one of his kidneys. There’s nothing else to be said about it.” “Hmph! You didn’t even examine him. How could you be sure?” said Gale. He was disgruntled and discontented. He then said coldly, “Or could it be that you were just repeating what I said, just to make it a draw?” As soon as he said that, everyone felt suspicious. Link did not even examine the patient and repeated that Gale said. One could not deny that it reeks of a cheat. “The patient is suffering from kidney stones. What else do you want me to say?” Link said, annoyed. “Besides being a smartmouth, what other talent do you actually have?” Gale threw a derisive glance and the entire audience was slightly affected. Richard Hawking frowned. He thought to himself, ‘Even if the results are the same. You could at least get his pulse before giving your diagnosis.” “Be it as if may, at the very least, my treatment method is diff
