His Daughter's Saviour の全チャプター: チャプター 31 - チャプター 40

I spent most of the night flying around the neighbourhood, checking that everything was in order and that there were not any threats around, as I struggled to fall asleep after mine and Cassie's talk. I was excited that she finally managed to talk to me telepathically.  

Cassie's window was still closed when I got back to the house, she usually left it open for me, and I thought today would not be any difference, but she probably had not gone up to her room yet. Maybe she was still downstairs with the others, talking about how the dinner had gone. I made myself comfortable in the tree, while I waited for Cassie to get upstairs, I was not in any rush, it was not like I had anywhere else to be.  

I am making my way over to the field where the horses are grazing. I got a horse collar in my hand as the farmer that I work for has requested me to get one of the horses back to the stable. As I am walking along in the fields, I see a beautiful girl, she seems very upset. I am sure that she lives in the village, but I am not supposed to talk to anyone in the village. The farmer has warned me about going into the village, as they will banish me if they find out what I am. 

My dreams were filled with more memories from the witch village I used to live in, but all the dreams somehow included Cassie. I was a bit confused, I had no real memories of any girl while I lived in the witch village, let alone someone that looked like Cassie. But maybe because of everything that had happened, my subconscious had decided to include some happiness in my dreams as it was doubtful if I would ever be able to be near to Cassie again. 

Weeks went by, I did not even bother to go to school anymore. I had promised Leah that I would stay away from Cassie, and that was what I had been doing. It was really hard, but Leah had said that Cassie needed time and space, so that was what I was giving her. 

A few hours later I was back in my house, waiting for Leah and the others to arrive. I had gone through the whole of the upstairs part of Cassie's house and had picked up on something that felt wrong, but I could not place it. It seemed to be stronger in everyone's bedroom, apart from Abigail's bedroom. The enchantment around the house also felt different, but I was not sure if it had changed or if it was just because I had not felt it in a long time.  

For the rest of the day, I did not know what to do. I felt so powerless, this was so much worse than when I had to stay away from Cassie, at least then I knew that she was alright. Now I did not know anything, she may not even be alive, however I felt in my heart that that was not the case. 

"Dammit Jax, Wake up. Don't do this to me." I slowly opened my eyes, it took me a while to realise where I was. I was no longer in a sitting position but lying down on the floor with Leah sitting on top of me, I was very confused as to what was going on. 

Leah came around the house the next day. I was very excited and eager to share my plan, so before she even had a chance to say anything but good morning, I started talking. "I think I know how we can get to Cassie." 

I was back in the fields again, like in my dreams, but I somehow knew that this was the past. I seemed to know everything that had happened, it was like I was back in my past body watching through the eyes of a younger me. I was working for a farmer that had agreed to help me get acquainted to the human world and I knew that I was not allowed to go into the village, as it was full of witches that could easily detect what I was.
