Chapter 11

Arthy and Belle, as we now called her, had rekindled their relationship though they were on opposite sides. I often had to wake up to the noises of their training sessions. I had participated in a few of them, but the end results were always the same; me soaking in the hot springs in pain. I realised that they genuinely were better apart, combined their powers were insane, completely off the charts. In fact, I still couldn't keep up with Arthy alone, but with his sister, I was completely knocked out of the ring. If they had been made as a whole being, they would have won and killed me and dominated the entire thing. Humans would have been wiped out of existence.  Lovina and Kasali were lovers, no one really knew when their relationship started or how they were able to balance their work life and personal life, but they did it. Her boisterous attitude and his timid demeanour made for the 'opposites attract' phenomenon. The love between both of them shone so

Chapter 12

Meanwhile in the human realm in the middle of all this; ‘Your Highness, we have just received word from the Kuantonga tribe down by the western river. They have confirmed that no longer are trees growing in the middle of their huts and palace. They also said that they don’t have to go that far to hunt anymore. It seems that everything has settled my Lord.’ The soldier was recounting everything from his trip to the Kuantonga tribe. It had been strange for a few days to be awake while everyone slept and to be asleep while they were awake. But his biological clock took a few days to regulate to their zone and now that he was ba

Chapter 13

Malaiwu and the other gods might have left the world about a moon ago but the void they left weren’t as easily filled as others would have thought. The humans had easily forgotten about them, they eased rather quickly into worshipping the others that stood in their place. But the gods, as their memories were fading, desperately tried to cling to them but ultimately time caught up to them and the only one who seemed to have any recollection of her and the other gods which had been destroyed was Zadra. But as the days drew closer for his fight, people around him sensed a great shift in his reasoning. He forgot things, misplaced numbers and was overly cranky. He kept mentioning names of ‘people’ we didn’t recognize or remember and his anger would always surge at our confused faces. The gods and I we

Chapter 14

Walking away from everything that was going on in my life, I found myself looking on a cliff looking over the forest that surrounded the waterfall. I often had times wondered here whenever I needed a break. It was easy to let my thoughts roam free, all I had to do was keep quiet and take a deep breath. It would have been so easy to fall and just say goodbye to everything but the weights of the expectations everyone had weighed me down that I couldn’t even think to take my life. I had often wondered if I was the one the world needed. If I was ready to save them or if I was going to fail like I feared. Hmm. ‘I wonder what Zadra could have meant. Probably just some random dying crazy talk, he was dying. I’d better not pay him any attention. Where’s Arthy? It’s been long since I last saw him. Ever since Belle came, it was like I mattered not. Shouldn’t blame the guy, she’s his long-lost sister.  Well, let me go find him

Chapter 15

When your lover is gone, and the only person you ever really called family turns out to stab you in the back, is there anything worth living for. Especially when you’re the reason your lover was no longer around. And while everyone got to forget, as the god of time, time would never let you. It was the curse that came with the job, being forced to remember it all.It was sad, it was tough, it was pure agony, bringing her face to the forefront of his thoughts. But he couldn’t let himself forget her tears and sadness when she saw what he did. But it wasn’t his fault, he just had to do something to ensure that he gets a chance against his sister. His sister, he loved her so very much that the news of her betrayal stabbed and hurt so badly. He couldn’t believe that she would do it to him and the fact that she did meant she had spat on their bond, made it mean nothing. Closing her doors on him and not talking to him or explaining had made matters wor

Chapter 16

'Hear ye, hear ye, the god Kasali is planning something strange at the field that bore no fruit. You wouldn't want to miss it. Come out of your dens all gods and watch what would happen. Hear ye, hear ye.'Arthy couldn't believe he was still sleeping or that both Belle and Nuala hadn't woken him up to be with them. He knew that Belle wouldn't translate for her and knew that Nuala would be too proud to ask. How Arthy was able to sleep through the ruckus the two must have been involved, Arthy had no clue. Deciding to shrug off his thoughts, he dived into the waterfall and quickly washed himself of yesterday's grime. Donned my clothes and flew like an eagle to the field. It was bizarre the sight. No blood or injuries, more participants than ever and still no words exchanged. I quickly got to her side and got her to explain what was going on. After understanding the situation, I got permission to act as her explanator but was denied. 'Do not worry Arthuila, I have a few tr

Chapter 17

Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut, I shouldn’t have told them what I knew. I should have…the truth is that I should have protected my family, I should have done better to prevent all that had happened, but could I? As the god of time, certain things were beyond my control. I didn’t have the knowledge of what was happening while it happened, it was only after when the devastation had occurred could I know. And as time itself, the one rule I had given myself, to appear unbiased, unmovable was to never change what had happened. I was to allow time move, events happen and just stay a spectator. My hands and body were tied to the rule, but some would wonder why I didn’t expose him immediately after. What makes now and then different. Nothing, there’s no difference from then and now. The only thing is the knowledge of what was going to happen immediately after telling the truth. I was to disappear into nothing immediately after revea

Chapter 18

The things which had come to light had once again put our plans on hold. In fact, I wasn’t so sure that I wanted to proceed. We had soon come to forget what had happened, the people we had lost, but the raw emotions, as well as the news of spark being a god’s plan, couldn’t be removed even if we had tried.  Zadra’s minions had taken it upon themselves, to write the stories in concrete and every day looked at it to remind themselves. Anthuina had stopped being sad and locking herself in her domain. Some believ

Chapter 19

Belle was ready, she was. Any shaking or tremors of her hands could easily be explained by attributing everything to the emotions of elation for battle. She wasn’t afraid. Out of all her competitors, she was the one with most battle knowledge. She had gone against Bathra and won.Who did people fear when going to war, her. That’s who.  And she wasn’t lying, okay maybe she was. She might have talked a big game, but she was scared. Not just of what was to happen but the future. Fighting Nuala who had become so important to her brother would also be tough on her spirit. But it had to be done.Frankly, Belle could care less about the reason they are all in this mess. She was happy that the gods were looking to rid themselves of humans. Sure, some of them were good and kind, a few had been friendly to her back when she used to serve them and go to war for them. But most would usually show their true colours when you least expect it. She had been burne

Chapter 20

One never knows who would win whenever you go to war. There were too many variables and variables. A secret is hidden in your opponent’s mind, your people might betray you, and so many forces could be against you. There would be a lot on your mind, but all your mind should forever be focused on from the moment you step into the battle is ‘hide, defeat and survive’. Belle knew this, she had been chanting this from the moment she woke up and now, standing before one pile of flesh that was previously her competitors, all she could think is ‘I won’. The other had broken and disappeared into the air. Unlike the other matches, three people entered the battle ring, each with what they want to accomplish, a reason why they should not die and a reason why they should come out victorious. They know what to prepare for; a woman whose life is dedicated to ending others, another whose dream and future ambition are to bring more humans to th
