1. New York

I opened my eyes slowly and turned to look at the time. The bright dial of the digital alarm showed 3:33 am. I released a groan as soon as my senses started to awaken. I don't want to face reality. It's cruel and dangerous. Please take me away from this world. This is a world of pain and torture. I just want to go to another world of fantasy which I know I can only capture during my beauty sleep.SMACK!A loud crash from the downstairs pierced the air, making me jump in fear. The sound of footsteps echoed up the stairs to my bedroom. Heart rising, I looked around for a hiding spot. Closet! Though there wasn't much space in the closet, it would be better than staying in plain sight. Someone pounded up the stairs, just as I was almost completely inside the closet. A hand wrapped around my ankle, yanking me out from the closet. When I got turned around by force, a masked face greeted me. Though it was impossible to see his disti

2. Fate must really hate me

(2 months later)‘Western ExecuTrain University’ is a horseshoe-shaped three-story building that encloses a huge courtyard. There are two medium-sized trees in front on either side of a sidewalk that leads up to the entrance of the building. This university is one of the prestigious campuses in New York and getting admission here wasn’t easy. But with the help of Mathew, Scarlet’s dad, I was able to enroll here. Few students were loitering around here and there outside the building, laughter, and chattering surrounding the atmosphere. “Are you ready?” Scarlet asked, bouncing on her heels beside me in excitement. I looked at my best friend with a smile forming on my lips.  “So sweetheart, are you ready?” Daddy asked. I was hiding behind daddy’s leg, overwhelmed after seeing a lot of students of my age. Some were crying not willing to leave their parents’ side

3. Lose Faith

The red and green lights blind my eyes as I stand in the middle of the Cielo club. The knee-length dress that’s hugging my body which I put on after so much debate seems nothing close to the revealing dresses the other girls are wearing tonight here. I’m not a person who likes fancy clubs and partying. I have never been to one. Worcester didn’t have many clubs that I knew or to be honest, I wasn’t interested in that kind of social activity. I’ve heard and seen too much news about all those girls who get drugged and used upon in these types of activities which made me completely stay out of it.Scarlet reassured me that it just happens to only twenty percent of the girls and in her experience, she has never come across such an event. But somehow I had agreed to go with Scarlet on the one condition that we must head back if I didn’t feel comfortable.

4. New Home

The wind whipped against my face as I ran into the cold. I shivered, but not once did I slow down. I don’t know where I was running with my belongings, but it was somewhere that is new to me. After walking for an hour, my legs started to ache, so I sat on a bench of a sidewalk bringing my knees up into my chest. Scarlet's face paled as soon as she saw me leaving and begged me to stay. But I didn't listen and walked out of the apartment with a stone face. One of the things I inherited from my father is Pride. And my pride didn't allow me

5. Do I have an option?

The surroundings around me look quite peaceful and warm today, so instead of catching a bus or going with Scarlet to university, I decided to walk. I enjoyed having this time to recollect my speech which I've to present in front of my class. Suddenly the climate changed and the blue cloud changed to dark grey and soon after raindrops started falling. "Great" I muttered to myself and looked up at the grey cloudy sky. I loved the rain when I didn't have to walk around in it. I pulled my hoodie over my head and started running."If only I would have carried an umbrella, I would enjoy this," I muttered as I turned to the corner. I looked up at the shops that filled the streets and people either running for a shelter or simply enjoying the rain. My clothes were sticking to my body like a second skin and it was irritating me.There was a small bus stop a few feet away and I dashed towards it. I stood under the shelter and placed th

6. Dishonesty

"Hi," Scarlet said, fidgeting nervously as she stood in front of my table. I was sitting at a round wooden table under a big maple tree, munching on my vegetable sandwich."Hey,” I said softly. I didn't want to show any reaction to her presence so I kept my face blank.“Can I sit here?” she asked gingerly. I nodded my head before returning to my sandwich. She sat down on the bench opposite mine. “How are you?”“Had seen better days,” I said nonchalantly and she nodded her head, guilty-looking. “Are you still mad at me?” she asked softly and I sighed heavily.“Not mad Scar, just disappointed” I clicked my tongue and leaned forward “Do you think I’ll do that to you. That I’ll cheat on you and that too with him?”She shook her head “I know you won’t. I don’t know what happened to me that day. Maybe it was the alcohol&rd

7. Fighter

Karolia's POV“Hey” someone whispered in my ear from behind and I let out a shriek as fear ran through my body and I turned around.“Scarlet!” I involuntarily pushed her face away which was very very close to mine. “I didn’t mean to scare you” she admitted quickly, her eyes widened and hands raised in surrender. I took deep breathes to calm my racing heart.“Anyways…” she started, her face breaks into a smile changing the topic immediately. “I have a surprise for you” she jumped in excitement, her blonde hair loose from its normal ponytail. My eyebrows twitched in confusion as she took two tickets from her bag before showing it to me.“I got tickets for UFC” she squealed, bouncing on her heels.“UFC?” “Underground fight club” she squealed again and I gave her a blank face.

8. Learning to ride Ducati

Logan turned the vehicle around the corner into the familiar picturesque sophisticated neighborhood. “Logan” I sat up straight, my hands on his shoulders. The rain has stopped falling heavily and now it’s just drizzling. “Take me to Scarlet’s apartment, please,” I said. He ignored me and cruise down the streets until we reach the gate that led to Watson Mansion. I shook his shoulders, annoyed that he is ignoring me.“Couldn’t you have told me when we were on the main road?” he grumbled. He typed the gate passcode and the enormous gate slowly opened, revealing the stone path.“I’m sorry. It slipped from my mind” I said guiltily. I was too absorbed enjoying the ride, I completely forgot about it. “I told Grecia I’m spending the night at my friend’s house and she will be suspicious if she sees me for breakfast,” I said quickly. “Then don’t

"If you're taking more than two minutes to finish that small burger, then I won't hesitate to leave you here and be on my way" Logan glared, his arms crossed."It's not my fault you gulped down the food as soon as it arrived" I mumbled, slowly cutting a small piece from the burger and putting in my mouth. He gave me a weird look and I raised my eyebrow. What! We can eat a burger like this as well."Lord" he threw his napkin on the table and stood up, grabbing his keys and phone."Where are you going!?""Enjoy your time here leisurely," he said sardonically. "I have work to do," he said and walked away. I huffed and stood up after taking one more bite, running to catch up with him."Such an ass" I mumbled, wiping my fingers with tissue paper."Heard that," he said and I rolled my eyes, walking beside him. As if I care!"Karrie!" I heard someone yell my name and I turned around in confusion. Sca

10. Night Terrors

WARNING: There are a few thoughts on the idea of cutting. So read it at your own risk. Sorry :)"Kill you, kill you, kill you," the green-eyed man repeatedly shouted into my ear. I tried to cover my ears, but I couldn't move my hands. They were tied together to a pole above my head. I tried to scream, but no sound came out of my mouth. I tried to move my legs, but I couldn't feel it. I tried everything, but it was like my body was numb, unresponsive. I feel helpless. The green-eyed man looked at me evilly and pulled a knife from behind. The silver color of the knife glistened in the bright moonlight, its sharp edges sending a shiver throughout my body. He brought his hand up for the air before stabbing me in my chest. But I didn't feel any pain. I didn't feel anything. It was like souls were reversed. Instead of me, the person tied to the pole was my mom. She screamed as he pierced the knife onto her chest while I stoo
