The year 2007

Oakley Point of View 

“Oakley don’t be a brat! My friends are coming over in like an hour!” Dylan shouts banging on the bathroom door. My parents have gone away for the weekend and Dylan my older brother intends on throwing a ‘going away’ gathering for him and his buddies before getting shipped off to college. “Jesus Dylan, mom and dad have gone for literally five minutes and you are planning some shit or another to get wasted.” I unlock the door walking out looking dressed to kill, makeup done just right. “yeah and where the fuck do you think you’re going?” He asks raising an eyebrow. “well to a party of course… with Jess” I smirk at him. “the pot calling the kettle black!” he shout  “ you not fucking going Brat!” He adds with a  smirks. “says who dumb ass…” “says I, The person responsible for your silly Ass!” “Well, I don’t need you to tell me what I can And can’t do… I bet mom and dad would love to know that you are throwing a massive party in their house while they’ve gone…” I smirk back raising my eye brows. “Listen, you are 16 years old and I say no, you can hang out here with my friends and I… And just for your information, Mom and dad know I’m throwing something and they fine with it…” I feel my blood boil, as I’m about to throw a punch he slams the bathroom door in my face. “you just like a year and a half older than I am you know!” “dad and mom put me in charge Sis, sorry about that!” he shouts back.

I go back to my bedroom which is across the hall, and jump on the bed… I put my headphones in. My brother won’t know if I don’t tell him. I will sneak out. I’m meeting Justin at the party ( my on and off boyfriend ) So I message Jessica my bestie, to pick me up an hour later than she was supposed to.  An half an hour later, I climb off the bed and adjust my denim skirt and my white crop top, I take out my ear phones and can hear the commotion coming from down stairs. I put my head phones back in and increase the volume to ‘the way I are by Timbaland’. I go down stairs, and straight to the fridge. To get some water. I need to hydrate if I’m going to be running anywhere soon, and knowing my brother, I don’t want to take my chances. I’m popping a step out, listening to my head phones. Rapping in the parts that need to be rapped in, singing the parts that must be sang in. Pouring that glass of water like it has meaning. People knew who I was, I didn’t give a shit about what they thought of me and I wasn’t going to act around people either you love me or hate me, either way I don’t care. I danced in public, spoke extra loud on the phone, cracked jokes in serious situations. I embarrassed my brother now and again. I just didn’t care.

I put the water away in the fridge and turned around opening my eyes to see that everyone was looking at me. Most of them smiling, some of them laughing. I see my brother leaning on the kitchen island where I was busy, along with his very hot buddy Jason. He wasn’t amused, although Jason had a smirk on his face. I stopped in the process of dancing, it was like I was stuck with my hands in the air, just smiling at all of these guys staring back at me. I smile at my brother, Take my head phones out. “what Dumbass? Don’t stare at me…” I say, Dylan is not amused. “we all just watched you dance, sing and rap for like 5 minutes, are you not ashamed of being a freak?” “ Go, Get Your Freak On,Go, Getcha Getcha Getcha Getcha Getcha Freak On…” I recite missy Elliot lyrics out to him, Dance  reversing out the kitchen. I take the left over water I had in the glass, and throw it at him. Putting the glass safely on the table, and running upstairs, before he could catch me, I lock the door to my room behind me. “Fuck what a dick!” I hear him shout… “I’m going to get you brat…” I lay on the bed thinking of his steamy best friend, Jason.

I check my phone after hearing that a text message came through. Jess: ‘sup bitch! I’m here waiting about a block down…’  That’s my Que to move it or lose it, I climb on the ledge of the window and slide down the drain pipe connected to the house. It’s taken my weight thus far, I’m very small and petite, you would never think that I’m related to my brothers, they are tall and very built. I sneak out without anyone seeing me except the few guys standing outside. I see Jason standing outside by the pool, just as I slip past, he sees me and wanted to say something, I put my finger on my lips and beg him silently. Then I run off, slipping my boots on as I jump into the car. Jess looks at me bewildered as I jump into the front seat with her. “What the fuck Lee! You scared the shit outta me!” “Sorry. Let’s, go I want to be half way through the party before my brother comes to get me…” “Yummy your brother…” She says and winks at me. Jess has always had a thing for Dylan, ever since I’ve known her. She adored my brother, but has never had the courage to do anything about it. We get to the party and I walk in there like I am the boss. I greet everyone I know, and make my way over to Justin pouring himself a drink. He kisses me hello, and offers me a drink which I gladly take. 4 drinks down, and Justin is leading me upstairs to one of the bedrooms. “Wanne fuck?” he asks. How attractive, I thought , kissing me on the neck, as he escorts me into one of the open rooms. I sit on the bed and watch him remove his t-shirt and pants. He dances around in his briefs trying to make it sexy but actually making the situation funny. I eventually laugh trying to keep it in for so long, when suddenly. Jason barges in. Justin scurries away covering all the dignity he has left, and I burst out laughing again.  I look up at Jason. “you came at the wrong time..” I say in a laugh. “come Oakley, your brother is looking for you.”
