“Eldest Lady?”

Upon hearing Charlie’s question, Tanaka expression saddened and he sighed softly. “Mr. Charlie, I won’t hide this from you. The eldest lady has suffered a very serious injury from her previous fight with Ms. Aurora. Although she is lucky enough to be alive, her body is no longer as strong as it used to be. Now she’s recuperating in Kyoto…”

Charlie couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as he remembered Nanako’s tender looks.

However, Charlie was able to conceal his emotions well. With a poker face, he said. “Are there any problematic complications? Will she be able to participate in future competitions?”

Tanaka gave a bitter smile. “I don’t think she would be able to participate in any competitions in the future. Her body is so fragile and weak now. It was just a few days ago where she was able to gather enough strength to stand but she wasn’t able to walk much. Nowadays, she spends most of her time lying in bed, recuperating. In the evening, when the sun is about to set, she will roll herself out to the yard and bask in the evening sun.”

The image of the once happy and joyful girl on a wheelchair basking in the sun made Charlie feel a stinging pain in his heart.

Charlie continued his question, “What about her emotions? Is she coping well?”

Tanaka just shook his head. “Appearance wise, she doesn’t seem to be that badly affected by it. Every day, she would show that she’s happy and joyful but I know her…I know her well…Deep within her heart, there are a lot of problems that she doesn’t want to talk about. She was talking to me a few days ago and she asked me if I have someone whom I wanted to meet but would never get to meet in this life…I didn’t really understand what the eldest lady meant but I can tell…She was extremely depressed…”

Charlie couldn’t help but let out a slight sigh. “She shouldn’t have participated in that battle.”

Tanaka did not expect Charlie to feel sorry for his eldest lady. After a moment Tanaka couldn’t help sighing, “You’re right, Mr. Charlie. From the start, the chairman and I had tried to persuade her not to participate in the competition but she insisted that she wanted to…”

Tanaka continued, “During this time, the chairman had looked all over Japan for all the most renowned doctors to treat her injuries but sadly, there has been no cure. That’s why I embarked to Eastcliff and went to the national medical center to seek medical advice for her treatment…”

Charlie asked, “How did it go? Did you get anything?”

“No…” Tanaka shook his head dejectedly. “The chairperson has offered a very high remuneration in hopes that famous doctors of Oskian Medical Center would go to Japan to treat the young lady but till now, there is no one willing to accept that task.”

Charlie shook his head.

On the day Nanako was injured, Charlie had been watching. He knew at that moment that the injuries suffered by Nanako had far exceeded the knowledge of Western medicinal treatment.

So, be it the best Western doctor or Eastern medicine, it would be impossible to cure her.

The only one who could possibly cure her would be Charlie.

Thinking of this, Charlie remembered that he was about to embark on a journey to Japan soon. He wondered if he could drop by Kyoto to visit Nanako during that time.

If there was an opportunity to do so, he must visit her! Curing her was the least he could do.

At this moment, Charlie no longer had the mood to continue chatting with Tanaka and his girlfriend. So, he waved his hand and said, “Okay…I won’t ask anymore. The two of you should leave quickly.”

It was as if Tanaka had received forgiveness from God! He bowed respectfully towards Charlie and then said, “Mr. Charlie, then we shall take our leave…”

After saying that, he immediately pulled the woman who was by his side and fled as quickly as he could.
