Chapter 2

The middle-aged man sneered and said, "James, be a good boy and get out. This kind of upscale event is not for someone of your status. Don’t make a fool of yourself in front of the Fuller family’s guests. Get out!"

The man was Yvette's lover, Zack Larson. The Larson family was also an influential family in York City.

"It turns out that this is the useless son-in-law of the Fuller family. This is the first time I’m seeing him."

"What an embarrassment. I heard that he’s just a useless deadbeat. He’s only qualified to be a security guard!"

Everyone mocked James mercilessly.

"He's not my dad! He's a useless bum."

Even the little child in Yvette's hands screamed contemptuously and caused a roar of laughter.

James narrowed his eyes. All these people would drop dead on the spot if James chose not to take Master Ari's kindness toward him into consideration.

He thought about how Master Ari had diligently guided him since he was a child. He even saved James’ life and passed on the inheritance of Dragon's Soul to him.

‘Forget about it.’

The anger in James' heart slowly tamped down, and he had a look of imperviousness to desires and passion in his gaze.

"Yvette Fuller, I’ve come to divorce you today! This is the divorce agreement. I’ve signed it, please follow suit."

After he said that, James took out the divorce agreement and flung it lightly.

Smack!

The divorce agreement spun rapidly, flying toward Yvette. It slapped her hard on the cheek. It was as though James had given her a tight slap.

Yvette let out a cry, clutched her swollen cheek, and exclaimed, "You... You dare hit me with that?"

There was dead silence in the hall. ‘The Fuller family's wimpy son-in-law is asking for a divorce and even laid his hands on Yvette!’

Today was supposed to be the celebration of the Fuller family's accomplishments, but James was sh*tting all over it!

"So what if I hit you? I just didn't want to dirty my hands before this. Starting today, I have nothing more to do with the Fuller family."

James glanced at the crowd proudly and disdainfully.

"How dare you hit Yvette?!"

Zack rushed over, rolled up his sleeves, and acted like he was about to beat James up. "What’s your intention of getting the divorce now?"

"You’re unworthy to talk to me, back off!"

James waved his hand lightly as if he was shooing a mosquito.

He slapped Zack’s face, which led to Zack falling to the ground.

He looked down at Zack who was lying on the ground at a condescending height. "Now do you understand who’s actually the good-for-nothing?"

Everyone was stunned. ‘This son-in-law is acting too arrogantly.’

Verdell was livid. He smacked the table angrily and roared, "James, what do you think you’re doing?!"

"Verdell, you killed my mother! You’ll pay for it!" James turned his head and glared at Verdell.

"You! You’re spewing nonsense."

A hint of guilt flickered in Verdell's eyes. Of course, he would not openly admit it.

He sneered and said, "I know what you’re trying to do, James. You chose today to get a divorce and slander my name by saying that I killed your mother. Isn't it because our family is rich, so you want to blackmail a sum of money from us?

"I heard that you chose the cheapest option for your mother's urn. Wasn’t it below 100 dollars? Those kinds of urns will crack easily. How about this? I’ll spare you a few thousand dollars so that you can replace it with a better quality one, okay?"

"Hahaha!"

The Fuller family burst into laughter. James was nothing in their eyes. They were in hysterics, laughing so hard to the point where they staggered forward and back.

To their surprise, James, who they thought would be beyond furious, had a neutral expression on his face.

"Sure enough, a useless bum can only react as such."

Although Verdell felt that something was off, he still looked down on James.

James's stern gaze swept through the crowd. Although he did not display any anger, he still had a commanding aura that made everyone freeze on the spot. They shut their mouths involuntarily and looked at him in surprise.

"I’ll only say it once! Verdell, I will not kill you due to my respect for Master Ari. My mom’s death anniversary is one month from now. Bring everyone from the Fuller family and kneel in front of my mother's grave for three days and three nights. After that, you will amputate your hands and feet and be a useless person for the rest of your life. The grievances between me and the Fuller family will then be settled."

Everyone was stunned when they heard James' words. They then looked at each other with confused expressions.

"Has James gone mad? What's wrong with him?"

"He wants us to kneel for three days and three nights?"

The Fuller family sneered.

Verdell's eyes twitched. "You’re asking me to amputate my hands and feet? Haha, let’s see whose hands and feet will end up being amputated!"

"If you don’t do as I say exactly one month from now, don't blame me for being ruthless."

James gave them a final warning.

Verdell, who was quivering with anger, roared, "Get this bastard!"

"Boy, you sure know how to act tough. You’ll get what’s coming for you!"

Zack also stared at James with a baleful look as he cursed.

"Get him!"

It was as though the group of bodyguards just woke up. They looked terrified and were confused. When they looked at James, they felt as if their whole body was frozen and they were unable to move.

They swarmed toward James.

A scornful smile appeared at the corner of James' mouth. These people were no match for him.

"Stop!"

Suddenly, a roar came from the distance.

‘Who’s that?’

The Fuller family was shocked as they turned around. They saw an old man with a head full of gray hair that was slicked back. He wore a camouflage combat uniform and a pair of black military boots. He was marching toward them with a threatening look.

On the left chest area of the old man's combat uniform, there was a mighty and ferocious dragon-shaped badge, which was very eye-catching and frightening.

Moreover, the old man had not come alone. No one was sure when the courtyard outside became densely packed with people who were in formation.

All of them had buzz cuts and were in combat uniforms. It was unsure how many of them were there.

A burst of cold and fierce aura overwhelmed those present!

"You… You’re from Dragon's Soul… Who are you after?"

When he saw the legendary dragon-shaped badge, Verdell panicked a little. ‘Can it be that they’re here to arrest someone?’

The old man spoke crisply, his body trembling undetectably. The expression on his face was very agitated.

Upon hearing this, Verdell and Yvette's expressions changed.
