Chapter 8: My son is a virgin

"What was that scream about my dear?" A worried Elizabeth demanded an answer from Karen after she returned to the table to join the family.

Karen forced a smile, suddenly feeling the need to protect Cole's secret. "It was nothing, dude was just… I mean, Cole was startled to see me so he reacted in that line." She lied.

"Oh, okay. Will he be here soon?" Elizabeth wondered. By now, Sean was seated on the table with Karen's parents and Elizabeth and the four had talked happily before her return.

"Yes." Karen said.

"We have a lot for you all to choose from, so please eat to your heart's content." She pushed Karen to begin eating. Karen wasn't the least bit interested but she obliged and filled her plate with the bowl of rice in front of her.

Cole joined the rest of the family a few minutes later and with a huge grin, Kylie beckoned that he sat close to his 'future wife', leading him to take the seat beside her.

"So how well have you two been doing when it comes to getting to know each other?" Elizabeth raised the subject. She wasn't eating and Karen could tell it was because she was ready to talk non stop about their plans as a 'future couple'.

"Great." Cole answered for them. He acted cool and calm as if the incident from his bedroom hadn't occured.

"See, my son is a wonderful boy, I put my all when it comes to training him." She said. The men weren't contributing to the discussion, just eating their food.

"Mum, she doesn't need…" Cole tried to shut her up but she was determined.

"He's perfect for you. Unlike most men his age, I can assure you that my son is still a virgin." She beamed, proud of herself for the information she rendered.

Karen was certain the food she ate in that moment went up a wrong hole. She choked and began to cough.

"Mum, was that necessary?!" Cole frowned, hurrying to pour Karen a glass of water.

Elizabeth on the other hand was unable to understand what she'd said wrong. "Take care dear, pour her some more water if it's necessary." She squinted her eyes.

"I'm good." Karen cleared her throat when she'd calmed. She forced a smile at the worried Elizabeth. She stole a glance at her mother and almost shot a glare.

"Why don't you go upstairs and get to know each other better?" Kylie spoke, trying to prevent anyone else from noticing the look on Karen's face.

"No way." Karen's words slipped without warning. She looked at the older adults and shook her head as she prepared for correction. "I mean, we already know enough, I don't think…"

"Nonsense." Elizabeth waved, "listen, we need to know if you two are on the same board." She chuckled, "this wedding has to happen the soonest it can." She said. Internally, Elizabeth was in a haste to create the union. She thought if they wasted more time, the arranged couple could change their minds.

"Go upstairs with Cole after you've finished your dinner, we'll see stay here and talk about the wedding preparations." Elizabeth concluded her suggested decision.

"Wedding preparations? Who said we're getting married for sure?" Karen frowned. It disgusted her to see how they were making these decisions on their behalf, especially without her consent.

"Karen just go upstairs." Her father spoke this time. He wasn't one to meddle in her affairs and the few times he did, she knew best than to ignore him and so she went along.

Cole and Karen walked into the room and she wasn't surprised to find that the blonde was still in the room.

Brittany stood to her feet and snaked her hands around Cole's neck, trying to kiss him. An irritated Karen closed the door behind them, pulled her phone out and went to sit on the couch.

Brittany wasn't naked this time but she looked like she was prepared to have another round of sex with Cole, regardless of Karen's presence.

Cole pushed her away gently but she was adamant and refused to stop kissing every part of his skin.

Cole studied Karen with narrow eyes as she put her phone up to her ear. "Relax Faith…" she began but whoever was at the end must be impatient, he thought. Faith kept talking without pause.

"Don't even bother," Karen rolled her eyes, "I'm not getting married to him." She said.
