Chapter 2

Being poor is sad. Why? Because people treat you differently. They treat you like you are some animal and a thing that can be thrown when they need it anymore.

And that is what she feels now. Hopeless, tired. But she cannot give up, select that she is the only one who supports her family.

Elara's grandmother is sick, and she has a younger brother who also needs her support. Her parents died 7 years ago because of the fire accident. 

Their house got burn when she was 19, and her mother was trapped in a room, so her father ran inside their home and tried to saved her mother, but he failed. The house exploded, and that time Elara was starting to lose hope. But she was still hoping that her parents would come out alive. But it did not happen.

Until now, that accident is still hunting her. She couldn't sleep properly; she could hear her parents calling her name for help. Every time she would think of it, she would start to get scared. She got a panic attack because of that fire.

Now that it happened, she is now left with her grandmother and her little brother who needs her support. They need her, her little brother is still studying, and her grandmother is sick. So she can't stop working. She needs money to support them; they are the only family that she has. And she couldn't afford to lose them too.

Elara stood up from her bed when she heard a knock on her small apartment.

'I guess that's Mrs. granda.'

She sigh. She has no money to pay for her rent. She took a deep breath and walk towards the door and open it.

Mrs. granda stood there with her cold eyes. She then extended her right arm; she is asking for her payment for the rent.

Elara smile nervously.

"Hello there, Mrs. granda. How are you? Wow, you look younger than the last time I saw you. How's your vacation in Jeju? Did you had fun?" She said in a cheerful voice, trying to distract the old lady. But the old lady's face remained cold.

"That's not gonna work on me. You know why I'm here, Miss. So pay up. I need that money."

She said rudely—Elara's smile drop.

"uhm.. about that. I still don't have money, Mrs. granda. But don't worry, I'll pay you as soon as I have money. "

"Then when will you have? I need that now! "

"I'm really sorry... I really don't have money... "She said in a low voice. 

"It's that so..? Then leave this house if you can't pay me!" the old lady raises her voice; clearly angry.

 'Oh, no... I already lost my job. I can't see this apartment too.'

"Please, Mrs. granda, I promise I will pay you. I promise. "

"I'm sorry dear, no money? No apartment. Now leave! "

"No, please! Just this one last chance. Please, Mrs Granda... I beg you... please, I have nowhere else to go."

"Do I look like I care?! "

"Please...? I beg you with all my heart... I promise I will triple my payment for the rent. Just don't let me leave this house. please..."

She keeps on begging the old lady. Mrs. granda thought about it for a seconds before she sighs.

"You promise you will triple the payment? "

Elara quickly nodded even though she is not sure if where she can find the money. She only has one last job, and she can't lose it.

"Yes... I promise. "She said in pleading eyes. Mrs. granda rolled her eyes.

"Okay. This is the last one, okay? But if you still don't pay the rent, you have to leave, or else I will call the police. Get it? "

She slowly nodded then Mrs. granda left.

Meanwhile, Liam is sitting in his chair with a lot of paper works. His eyes were focused on his laptop screen the whole time. He was checking his companies update last month.

Liam sigh and lean his back on his swivel chair. He put his one arm on the back of his neck and rotate his head; trying to relax. 

He's been working on his laptop for an hour, and he even forgot to eat lunch. He sighs when he remembers the time when Ave was always there beside him.

Whenever he forgot to have lunch and whenever he is, stress Ave would be there and relax him. She always prepares his lunch and took care of him. 

She will always be there for him; even he had no time for her because of his work. Job is still his priority, and Ave was always the second on his priorities. 

Maybe that's the reason why she left him and married another man instead of him. 

His hands clenched into a fist. Every time he would think of Ave, it always ruins his day. He wanted to kill someone who reminds him of her.

He was so sure that he wanted to marry Ave. He thought that Ave was the one for him, but he was wrong. He found out something about her that broke him even more.

After a few months of their break up, he found out that Ave was married. He was the shock of what he had heard. It happened too fast. But what more shocked him was Ave's husband was already 52 years old, and he heard that the older man is sick.

Ave never loved him; she is a lying bitch and a slut. And he was so fooled by the so-called lover that he didn't realize that she only needs his wealth. He only found out about it after she married that older man.

And because of what he had experienced. He had a trust issue now. He has a hard time trusting people, and he became colder to women. After what she had done to him, he believed that women only want his body and wealth, not his love.

He was snapped out of his thought when the door of his office suddenly opened by a very sexy woman yet the woman was obviously angry and behind her is his secretary who is trying to stop the woman.

"How dare you left me last night on our dinner date! "

"Ma'am, you are not supposed to be here. "

"Shut the f*ck up boy! I am not talking to you. "Then she turns her gaze on him.

"I am waiting for your explanation, Owen Liam! "

The woman raised her voice while his secretary his stopping her and trying to pull her out of his office.

Liam sigh and ignore the noisy woman Infront of him. He has so much work to do than to entertain an idiot.

"Owen Liam, answer me! "

She continues shouting at him and it starting to irritate him. He tried to calm himself before he spoke to the woman in front who is now full of anger.

"Do I know you? "

Was the first words that come out of his mouth. The woman widens her eyes and gasp.

"How dare you! After we spent the night together, you don't remember my name?! "

Liam sigh.

"Look, woman, I don't know your name, and I don't care who you are. So leave. "

"I hate you! "

"I don't care. And for your f*cking information, we didn't spend the whole night. Because nothing happened between us, it's just a straightforward dinner. It was never dated to me. Now leave before I call my securities and drag you outside. "

He said coldly. The woman walks towards him and slaps him hard.

"You're a heartless jerk and an asshole! "

She shouted on his face and left.

"Mr Owen, I am so sorry. I told her not to enter your office, but she is to-"

"Whatever get out. "

"S-sir? Out in your office or out in your building? "

Liam glance at his secretary, who is now looking nervous.

"Out in my office. "

"You're not gonna fire me? "

He raised his eyebrow with his now red cheek and stared at his secretary.

"You want me to fire you? "

"No, no, no... Of course not sir. "

"Good. Now leave before I really fire you. "

He threatened, and then he quickly left.

That woman was too noisy; he hates it when a woman is too talkative and nosy; that's why he leaves her last night.

Well, it was his mother's fault. She always set him up on a date even though he doesn't want to.

He has no time to entertain gold-digger women. He has more important things to do than to date some bitches
