Unconditional Love

“Anastasia? Where are you? ”I am torn out of my dreams rather roughly and groan.

My headaches are really almost worth an entry in the book of world records, I feel like I haven't slept at all.

"Anastasia Coleman?" Comes again and I curse for ever giving my mum a key to my apartment.

"Here you are ..." she comes into the bedroom and pulls the curtains aside with a strong jerk so that the sun shines on my face.

"Mum." I moan and throw my covers over my head.

"Get up ..." she mercilessly pulls the covers away and I come up sleepily. It is unmistakable that she is angry, but she always is, so she has to tell me the reason, she has admittedly enough reasons ...

I rub my eyes and take a look at my cell phone, which is on the bedside table. Shortly after 11 a.m. on a Monday morning, the night was clearly too short ...

“I won't ask you again.” My mum now says in a sharp tone to me “Put some clothes on and come into the kitchen.” With that she turns around and I reach for a T-shirt lying next to my bed and pull it over my top.

Then I follow her forced measure and catch a glimpse of my reflection.

Wow, the night seems to have been really good. My make-up, well the remains of it, are spread around my dark blue eyes and my long dark brown hair swirls wildly around my head.

I finally arrive in the kitchen and my mum is sitting on one of the bar stools at the kitchen counter and pushing me a mug of coffee that she seems to have brought with her.

I sit down and gratefully take a sip.

"What's wrong Mum?" I look at her and tilt my head. Unconsciously, I look at her again, the successful lawyer Heather Coleman, who is desperate about her daughter.

It looks like it has just come out of a catalog for model mothers. Neatly pinned blonde hair, discreetly made-up gray blue eyes and a perfectly fitting costume.

Needless to say, I tend to hit my dad's direction, because my mum and I don't look alike at all.

"Anastasia, it can't go on like this ..." she begins and I close my eyes, tortured.

I can't even count how many times we've had this conversation in the past few years, I just know I'm tired of it ...

"What exactly, Mum?" I reply irritably.

"What exactly?" She shakes her head in resignation "You hardly ever go to university ... How are you ever going to graduate when you turn up maybe once or twice a week? Your car was towed in front of some club in West LA yesterday ... "She rubs her eyes, apparently she is also tired of this conversation." I didn't tell your dad, but I made a decision. “Anastasia, you've always been a good student, a hardworking student, and now look at you. We can live with you not wanting to take over the firm, but we can't live with you throwing your life away. ”She kneads her hands tightly.

"What do you want?" I ask angrily. "Where is this supposed to lead?"

"He's been dead for three years and since then you've been slipping away from us more and more ..." she gets up and comes to me. "You will fly to Grace and go to the Trinity." She seeks my gaze and holds it against him.

“Should I go to Ireland? Oh no Mum, I'm 25, I won't let you push me around. ”I run through my hair angrily.

"As sorry as I am Anastasia, either that or you have to see how you can handle yourself." She gives me an ultimatum.

"Honestly, Mum ..." I started. "I can manage on my own."

Of course I know that she wants to get down to the financial aspect ... and I am dependent on you whether I want to or not, because she is right, I have nothing to show, apart from a law degree ...

“I beg you Anastasia, Jonathan would never have wanted this for you.” She comes to me and takes my hand “You have to get out of here, you have to get away from your so-called friends and you have to finally stand by yourself again. I'm not asking you to stay with Grace, she'll just keep an eye on you. She has found you a small student apartment near the campus. Take it as a chance and not as a punishment. ”She urges me.

"I find that difficult." I admit.

Extravagant parties, nights in jail or hospital, and a lost UCLA scholarship are just a fraction of it.

Who knows, maybe I really have to get out of my environment ... For a while at least.

“When?” I ask resignedly.

"In three hours." She replies as calmly as possible.
