Chapter 53 Such Bad Luck!

After watching Gu Qingqing stomping off, Li Zichen sighed and went to sit down at his desk.

He took the traumatic-injury medicine out of the drawer and applied it to the handprint on his face. Then he took some ice cubes out of the fridge and pressed them against his face.

If his father came back and saw the handprint, there would be another fight.

Early in the morning, Liu Min and a few other women gathered around with an expression of panic on their faces.

It seemed that they were discussing something. All of them looked incredulous.

Liu Min murmured with her hand cupped to her mouth, "Strangely, this morning when I woke up, I received a message saying that all the money on my bank card has disappeared! As if someone has transferred it out!"

The other women echoed, "Yes, yes! Same for me!"

"Me too! I found that my bank account was empty this morning!"

"Not even one penny left!"

"I called the bank this morning, but they told me that there was no record of any transaction!"

Liu Min shook her head and her face became pale. "I have called the police! It was all the money I had saved up for so many years. How could it just disappear like that?!"

The others nodded. "We have also called the police."

Liu Min couldn't help fixing her eyes on the expressionless Gu Manman, who was standing nearby.

"Have you noticed something weird?"

The other women looked at her confusedly as she replied, "Something weird?"

Liu Min squinted at Gu Manman. "Haven't you realized? We are the only ones that have found that our bank accounts are empty. No one else was affected. We also happen to be the same people who locked Gu Manman in the restroom yesterday..."

After thinking about her words for a while, the other women all covered their mouths with their hands in shock. "Sister Liu, are you saying that it was Gu Manman who has taken our money?"

Liu Min pressed a finger to her lips. "Hush, I can't be certain, but I do suspect her. Either it was her, or it was someone she found to do it!"

The other women went up to Liu Min. "In that case, Sister Liu, what should we do?"

Liu Min was quiet for a moment, then her eyes squinted slowly. "We should keep it under wraps. Then, when the police discover the truth, she will be caught red-handed and have no chance to make any excuses."

The other women gave a thumbs-up to Liu Min with big smiles on their faces. "Such a good plan!"

Noon came quietly when Yin Yin'er arrived at the entrance of Miruo Kindergarten.

Lin Yue held Gu Zichen's hand while they walked slowly through the entrance. When she saw Yin Yin'er, she was just about to lift Gu Zichen up and put him in the back seat.

But Gu Zichen shook his head at Lin Yue and climbed into the seat at the front instead.

Lin Yue watched him buckling himself up in surprise.

Yin Yin'er smiled at Lin Yue. "Don't be surprised, Ms. Lin. Little Zichen never sits in the back when his mom is not with him. We will leave if you have nothing else."

Lin Yue nodded and said, "Drive slowly, Miss Yin."

A moment later, Yin Yin'er nodded and left.

She turned and looked at the young Gu Zichen. "OK, are you ready to fill me in now?"

Gu Zichen glanced at Yin Yin'er, a mysterious smile appearing on his face. Then he shook his head while smiling.

"No, if I tell you, it will no longer be a mystery."

Yin Yin'er grew a little angry at his response and tapped him lightly on the head.

"Mysterious? I have been busy since early this morning. Do you still want to keep it from me!"

Gu Zichen rested his jaw on his hand and said with a serious expression, "Auntie Yin, are you hungry? How about we eat first?"

Yin Yin'er was surprised by his words. "What do you want to eat?"

Gu Zichen squinted at her words. "The more expensive, the better."

Yin Yin'er grew even angrier and said, "I see. It's such bad luck that I am your godmother!"

In a musical restaurant, Gu Zichen ate the steak in front of him with a knife and fork, wiping his mouth from time to time with a napkin.

Gu Zichen took the box and looked at Yin Yin'er, saying, "Auntie Yin, let's go."

Yin Yin'er looked at Gu Zichen in surprise. "Now?"

"Yeah," Gu Zichen said, raising his chin.

Yin Yin'er looked at her steak and wine and said, "But I haven't eaten anything..."

Gu Zichen went up to her and held her hand. "Let's go. Some of the take-out is for you."

Yin Yin'er was surprised. "Little Zichen, are you that nice?"

Gu Zichen didn't answer her question. He was worried about Gu Manman, who was still at the company.

He saw from the surveillance that his mom usually didn't have lunch. Yesterday, his mom had told him that she had already had her lunch, but later he saw her go to lunch when there were fewer people...

It was in the afternoon that the drawings and the finished product would be collected. It was already past noon and was almost 1 o'clock.

What that meant was that the collection process was about to start.

Gu Zichen looked determined. "Mommy, wait for me a bit longer!"

The car drove along the road quickly. Seeing the expression on Gu Zichen's face, Yin Yin'er sped up even more.

Lunchtime had passed. Gu Manman sat at her desk as usual and didn't think of going to lunch at all.

When everyone had stood up and started walking toward the group leader, she remained seated.

An Ni walked up to Gu Manman in her high heels with a confused expression and said, "Gu Manman, the deadline is this afternoon. Why haven't I received your drawings and finished products?"

Gu Manman stood up slowly and nodded to her. "Sorry, An Ni. I probably will disappoint you."
