Chapter 14

I snapped my head towards her and looked at her shocked "What do you mean his wife" I asked her and she looks at me

"Sorry his late wife," She says and I looked at her more shocked

"He was married, his wife died, How, When, Why?" I asked a series of questions and she walked away 

"Amanda!" I called out to her but she fastens her pace. I stood there with new questions going through my mind, how was it possible, he was married, I looked back at the portrait 

"What Could have happened " I whispered and walked upstairs to my bedroom

*Amanda would need to answer my questions sooner or later, I'm very sure I wasn't supposed to know, but now that I do I am definitely going to find out what happened exactly * I sighed and walked into the closet

*Now that this man has succeeded in throwing everything away just because it didn't fit in his house, he's so grumpy and annoying and and "Arrgh" I groaned and looked through some of the clothes there, I could make do with a Blue Jean and blacktop, I brought out a blue jean and blacktop

*I wonder how he even knows my size * I walked back into my room and placed the clothes on my bed, Glancing over at the drawer, I saw different types of cream and I picked out one After I was done dressing up, I brushed and packed my hair into a loose bun, Satisfied with my look I went downstairs and walked towards the kitchen, Amanda raised her eyes to look at me while I folded my hands on my chest

"Amanda!" I say and she sighed " Alright fine, She is his late wife but that's all I know about it," She says and I raised my eyebrows 

"That is really all I know about it," She says and I raised my eyebrow "That's really all you know," I asked her and she nods

"Fine, What are we having for breakfast?" I asked and she smiles 

"Spaghetti" I nod and walked back to the living room. I looked at the portrait again and if it was beauty wise I could see why Mr obnoxious fell for her. I sighed and walked to the dining table, Amanda had started to serve my food and I smiled at her, I started to eat and my mind wandered back to June, I should probably ask her doctor when she would be discharged, I think she's doing well now. I snapped out of my thoughts when Amanda placed her hand on my shoulder 

"Aubrey, please don't tell Mr. White what I told you, please Aubrey" 

"I won't tell him, you don't have anything to worry about," I say and she smiles genuinely at me "Thank you" She walked away and I continued to eat. After I was done I stood up and went to my room, on my way I saw Amanda all dressed up

"I'm going to college, I will be back soon," She says and I nod, A wave of nausea hits me and I struggled to keep my cool, She moved closer to me and I walk back, The nausea hits harder as she came closer to me and I ran into my room, barging into my bathroom as I emptied all I ate into the basin

*What is this, Can't I eat anything?" I groaned and rinsed my mouth, I walked into my room feeling really tired, Amanda walks into my room and nausea comes again, I held out my hand to signal her to stay where she was, I climbed unto the bed, confusion was set in her eyes and she looked hurt

*I didn't mean to hurt her but she coming near me makes me nauseous*

" I'm fine Mandy, Thanks for checking on me but you can leave now," I say and she nodded meekly and closed the door, I breathed a sigh of relief as she walked out

*Why can't I stand Amanda!?" I wondered and laid on the bed properly to rest, My phone starts to ring and I groaned, I shifted sideways and reached for the phone, I saw that it was Mr obnoxious calling and I picked it

"I heard you are feeling a little sick," He says 

*Amanda probably told him I am sick* 

"Yes, But I am better now" 

"I will be back home soon, Alright!" he says 

"Alright" He hung up the call and a faint smile appeared on my face as I put my phone away

*He really isn't as bad as I thought he was* I shut my eyes closed as I drifted off to sleep but my phone starts to ring again 

*What is it this time!* I groaned and got up from bed, placing the phone on my ear

"Hello," I say and the line went silent " Hello," I say again but the phone went silent

"Whoever this is, can you please not call me again if you don't have anything to say" I way angrily and hung up

* I don't know who the hell this is and I am not interested in knowing who it is, I just hope the person stops calling. I dropped my phone on the bed and draped my head over my hands, I was starting to feel very hungry and as it is Amanda isn't at home

*Oh well, Let's check what I can give you* I say my tummy, I took my phone with me and walked downstairs, The whole house seemed awfully quiet

*How is it that only he and Amanda stay here, It is such a big mansion* I thought but shrugged it off, It wasn't my business* I walked towards the kitchen and started to go through his cupboards hoping to find something to eat

"There you are "I muttered as I found a box of cereal, I brought it out and looked for milk

*Cereal is good for a baby right?* It should be good for a baby* I got the milk and set to make it, I heard the front door open and I became alerted immediately, Well Mr obnoxious told me he would be home early but still what if it were burgers 

*Okay Aubrey, I think you are getting ahead of yourself, There is tight security outside alright * My subconscious says and I nod

"True" I walked out and saw a redhead, A tall slender lady sitting and going through her phone, I coughed awkwardly and she looks up at me, Her far contoured into a frown

"Are you the new maid?, Anyway get me a cup of orange juice" She says and went back to looking at her phone 

"Sorry, I am not the new maid," I say and she looks up at me again

"Then the old maid, Listen I don't care which maid you are, get me a cup of orange juice," She says and I raised my eyebrows 

"I am not a maid, I don't know who you are but if you want a cup of orange juice, you either ask nicely or get it yourself," I say back at her and she stands up, walking closer to me with a sly smirk on her face

"A feisty one, I like it, My brother in law never told me that he had replaced my sister so quickly and with someone so.." She looks at me again as if disapproving me "Meagre" She says and the realization hits me, She is his late's wife sister, I opened my mouth to talk but someone else beat me to it

"That's because I haven't and will never replace her, Nicole! Aubrey is the new maid and just like Amanda is" I hadn't noticed he was back and probably overheard what she said. I looked at him and his green eyes held no emotion, they were as cold as ice 

"Isn't that true Aubrey, What are you?" He asked me and tears stung my eyes, I looked down slowly and swallowed the lump in my throat 

"The new maid!" I say and she smiles wickedly at me

"Perfect, Get me a cup of orange juice...Maid" She says and I nodded, walking away without looking at either of them as a tear fell unto my cheek, I got her the orange juice and went back upstairs

He didn't lie, He is my employer and me his Employee

If he says I am a maid, Then I am a maid.
