5- 1st Day

"it all starts when the PURPLE FOG came from out of nowhere"- Dessa

we are very merry waiting for the Christmas eve along with my father and little brother

"Papa its 2mins before Christmas!"- Dessa

"yes, Sister woooohhh!! I cant wait to eat!"- John Marwell (aka JM)

"just a minute wait until then ahaha"- Bobby

due to our friend's yearly group tradition, I am preparing the foods that I am bringing outside

"were going to have an exchange food outside after celebrating Christmas here with you Papa, I can't wait to brag my special carbonara!"- Dessa

"I'll bring some coffee jelly and tell them that I'm the one who makes it hahahah" -JM

with his loving tone, my father is reminding us

"but remember to come back home sooner or ill go and get both of you"- Bobby

"yes Papa" - Dessa

"11:58! 1minute!! Merry Christmas Papa woooo! I'm the 1st one who greets papa hahaha you loser sister!"- JM

"duhh! it is still 11:58!"- Dessa

....

"12! Merry Christmas PAP-!"- Dessa/JM

but before we complete our Christmas greeting to my father

a purple fog suddenly appear and slowly occupying our house

because of this all of us in the house, panics!

"what was that! my children come beside me!"- Bobby

me and my little brother approach papa quickly

he hugs us both and slowly walks us out of the door

but when we are at the outside of the door, the purple fog was still there and more thicker!

"pa-...."- Dessa

my vision became blurry

with one last desperate call, my consciousness is slowly fading away

everything in my eyesight is like a hazy figure and my knees are getting weaker

but I can see that JM and Papa are already at the ground and lost their consciousness and after that

my mind becomes blank

and the next thing I knew is I'm already inside of the house and PAPA is pushing our door to close

but to my surprise, there is this weird sound coming from the other side of the door!

"w-what is happening Papa..."- Dessa

*rrrooaaar!!!*

*tag* tag* tag!!*

"Sang stay calm and don't make any noise"- Bobby

"w-what is going on!"- Dessa

Papa is trying to calm me down but he is pushed hard while closing the door!

"Please stay there and dont make any noise please"- Bobby

*RROARR!!!*

and I hear clearly the sound outside of our house

what was that

the sound is like a hungry monster

it is too terrifying

I look at my side and found JM is still unconscious

*RROAARR!!!!*

I look back again to my father but the door is already slightly open and arm extended from outside!

"ggguuuu.. god!"- Bobby

Papa strikes the arm of the thing that is forcing to come inside

Papa suddenly raise his butcher knife and strike many times the arm

*CHAKK!* cHAKKK!** CCHAKK!!

the blood squirts from the arm and flies all around our house

it was a scene from a horror killing film, but now it was all real and it is happening right before my eyes!

after a few strikes, the arm has been cut and it fell on the ground

I was too shocked and because of fear I accidentally wet myself

"P-papa... y-you c-chop- pped t-the a-arm...."- Dessa

I run towards the kitchen and vomit

*bweeeee!*

I didn't notice that JM is already wake up and saw the entire process

"These damn things!"- Bobby

Papa successfully shut the door but the monster outside still striking it hard!

after shutting the door completely Papa came near to us

"Are you okay my children? are you hurt somewhere?"- Bobby

"P-papa what was that!?"- Dessa

"I don't know I've wake up earlier and found us outside of our house, so I carry you both here and check outside to see if the purple fog is there"- Bobby

while Papa is telling us what happen, JM still shaking in fear

"Papa im scared!"- JM

my brother is already crying so do I also but I'm not that crying hard like him

"After I got outside, I've found those monsters chasing people and eating them alive, I try to help someone but the eaten person becomes one of them also!"- Bobby

as Papa's telling us the story his face is so afraid and his eyes are in disarray, it was like he saw a glimpse from hell

Papa hugs us deeply I can feel his trembling body, so I hug papa and little brother also

after a few minutes, the attack from the door never stops

*tag* tag! *tag!!*

"P-papa t-the things outside, is that a zombie?"- Dessa

JM's cries never stop and clinging to us like there is no tomorrow

"I don't want to die!"- JM

with Papa's consoling behavior, he hugs us deeply

"Papa is here okay don't worry my children"- Bobby

*tag* tag* tag*!!

as the attack continues, Papa suddenly make up his mind

"stay still"- Bobby

Papa stands in front of us and raise his butcher knife and wait for the zombie to destroy our door

*taG!!*

*crrik*

the strikes continue until our door is already giving up until the final strike came!

*TAG!*

*crak!/*

the zombie now created a hole from our door and forcing its way towards us!!

father is raising his weapon and not striking it 1st due to another zombie came and forcing its way to our broken door!

*BAG!*

the door has been destroyed and fall down after that

the 2 zombies now are rushing towards us!!

both zombies are rushing to my father and the only thing I can do is watch

Papa strikes the head of the zombie but there we're 2 zombies and the other one is launching itself at the side of my father!

I want to move my body but it was frozen by fear, as the zombies are slowly pushing my father all I can do was to stare...

"PAPA!!!"- Dessa

"NO!!!!"- JM

but before the zombie arrives at father, it is suddenly stopped and fall!

someone stab the head of the zombie at the back!

and when I look who's the one who helps us, I saw a chubby figure holding a kitchen knife, it was Cousin Jester!

he is signaling us to come then throw his knife

"come to our house fast!"- Jester

I was too shocked over the things that happen and my body still can't move

father leave his weapon that stuck already at the head of the zombie and carry us both using his arms

my father was fast and not wasting any time

until we get inside of my cousin's house (JESTER)

"thank you, Jester"- Bobby

"It is alright now Uncle Bobby"- Jester

"where are your parents?" - Bobby

"they are at the room with Jobert"- Jester

and suddenly the door of the room opened and a young man came out

"Is everything alright brother?"- Jobert

"Brother Jobert!"- JM

"huuu.. I thought you're a goner already when we saw your door its already cracking thankfully brother came in time"- Jobert

with a scary tone and  shaking body, JM inquire

"where those things came from!?"- JM

"We also don't know but when we saw the face of the thing that is striking your door, we all know that they are not In the right mind- Jester

as we hide here in their house we can here the plead and shouts of the peoples outside

*HEELPPP!!!!*

*ROARR!*

*heeellllpppp!*

my brain still can't process what is happening and still not talking and gazing only at the wall

I don't care even my pants are wet because of my sudden burst, it is just that everything that is happening feels like a dream

"Are you okay Sang?"- Bobby

I dont answer and stop gazing at the wall then cover my eyes and cry silently

I was too scared

this is fear

this fear is so much for me to handle

but suddenly father hugs me

with his fatherly warm embrace, my body feels comfortable

"it is okay I'm here"- Bobby

and at that time I went to sleep again

when I woke up

its already 9 am

I look at the surrounding, wishing that it was all a dream but its not...

"your awake sister"- JM

"where is Papa?"- Dessa

"they're at the living room with cousins parent" - JM

my face suddenly becomes gloomy

"so it was all true..."- Dessa

"yes..."- JM

when I went to see them, they are already discussing our stock of foods and they got a conclusion that our food supply is too limited and it was only good for 3days

"what do we do now?- J.DAD

"our supply is too limited"- J.MOM

"Does this mean that we need to go outside?"- Jobert

everyone became silent

it was a hard choice due to those monsters are outside

"is there any news about what is happening at the television?"- Bobby

"There is nothing, every station is off and there are no channels"- Jester

the electricity is still working with no problem but until when?

there is also no internet or any network signal

and the most shocking thing is, it is already January 1

we've been unconscious for almost 6days!

every one of us doesn't know where those zombies came from

but everything is clear, that it is contagious, it can spread through a bite and maybe from body fluids also

we complete our meeting and all of us decided that we are going outside and some of us will stay

I was so scared but waiting here makes me more terrified

so I volunteered that I will go with Papa going outside and gather information while cousin brother Jester and Jobert will get some supplies

JM and cousins parent will stay home and guard here

the 4 of us successfully got outside of the door and Papa and Jester rush to our house and retrieve their weapons

everything was smooth but when we arrive at the balcony of our apartment building

from here a very disturbing scene is happening before our very eyes

there were a lot of zombies in the street!

sadly some of them are familiar and most of them are living here

"o lord, what is happening..."- Bobby

I found a small wide wood near the balcony and use it as a shield for our upcoming expedition

*grrrrrr*

*rraaaa**

even afar we can still hear the voices of the zombies and it was a lots scarier now

we crouch and observe the surrounding but suddenly

*INGGGG...*

the door at the back opened!

*ggrrr...*

there is a zombie!!

it's walking strange but it still not looking at us

the terrifying thing there is one of its eyeballs is falling out already

I feel like vomiting but I swallow it

everything will be over if this zombie found us and make an uproar

Papa looks at me and then look at my cousins then nod

Papa runs towards the zombie!!

but because of the sudden noise, the zombie heard my father's footsteps and immediately look at him!

*GGRROO-*

Papa already severed its neck and it was more than enough to kill this zombie

the zombie is our neighbor, she was a good person always greeting us every morning

seeing its body lifeless is heartbreaking

fathers face went ugly his heart is bleeding like I was but he can't do anything were going to die or we kill him

"sorry"- Bobby

fathers eyes are sullen and

he looks at us and nod

we are currently on the 2nd floor of our apartment building

father is leading and slowly moving down the stairs, face checking the surrounding so that there is no hoard of zombie that will attack us

but

"aa!!"- Dessa

because of nervousness, I slip at the stairs!

*bug!*

I've rolled mid-way of the stairs!

Papa chased me soon and check if I'm okay

"ouch-..."- Dessa

father suddenly cover my mouth

cousin and father is observing the surrounding

there is a possibility that the zombie heard my fall

Jester looks at me angrily

"huuuuu... my idiot cousin what are you doing!"- Jobert

my cousin shouts silently at me

"Sorry... I slipped at the stairs"- Dessa

"Can you stand?"- Bobby

"yes, yes father I can, it's just a minor scratch"- Dessa

it was a scratch but it was hurt like hell!

but I pretend to be okay

"I thought were a goner already shit"- Jester

we check the hallway at the 1st floor and found nothing

for now, we lock the front gate of our apartment building and check every room if there is any survivor or any ration of foods

fortunately, there were no zombies here and we check the first floor in a more comfortable manner

for starters we've found some can goods and a sack of rice

but most of the room is mysteriously open but there is no zombie

we collect all of it and place near the stairs

I remember suddenly if John Carl's mother is still in her room so I immediately went to

it is located in the last room on the 1st floor

my father and I went there

and knock

*knock* knock*

while knocking father calls her in a concerned manner

"Ms. Silva are you there!?"- Bobby

but no ones answer

"Ms. Silva it is me Dessa and my father!"- Dessa

but no one is answering again

even the door is lock inside

"I think she is not in the room already"- Bobby

"I think so Papa"- Dessa

feeling dejected we plan to leave

but

the door suddenly opened!

"D-Dessa?"-

a familiar voice calls my name

I quickly look who was it and I found Ms. Silva!

"Ms. Silva! I'm glad you're still alive!"- Dessa

but before answering my question Ms. Silva suddenly hug me

her body is trembling in fear

and suddenly asks but her eyes were full of concern towards me

"have you met any monster around here?"- Ms. Silva

"yes, but those zombies are mostly outside and some only are still at the building"- Bobby

"then we are not safe here!"- Ms. Silva

"yes but Papa and my cousins slew the zombies nearby"

"for now calm down first, collect any edible food in your house and meet us at the stairs"- Bobby

Ms. Silva only nod

I help Ms. Silva collecting their foods and gather the edible ones

but most of their noche buena food is already spoiled so we have left it

I and Ms. Silva went immediately to meet up with my father

we slowly went back to our cousins' house

we are at the balcony of the 2nd floor

and observing the things happening outside

our street road is not that wide and if the hoard of zombie attacks us from there, we surely die and become infected too

but as we observing

someone go out from my friend Phil's Aunties house!

"who is that!?"- Bobby

the figure looks very familiar

the figure is creating loud sound using a metal bar that it is holding

*tang!* tang!*

because of the sound, most of the zombies look at his direction!

*RROAARRR!!!!* RROOAARR!!

ROARR!!!!*

"that fool guy!!"- Bobby

the figure runs immediately upwards where our street small basketball court can be found

and suddenly he turns left!

all the zombies that found him immediately run and like a hungry predator, the zombies are racing towards him!!

when the figure turns left the realization hits me

and my whole body shivers!

his body structure and face, it matches one of my friends!
