7- Rescue

Papa is currently resting at the room while I and JM are watching him

"Sister are you really sure that father will not become one of them?"- JM

I can see from the eyes of my little brother his concern and fear of losing our father

"don't worry according to the information we've got, he will not become one of them"- Dessa

"i hope so"- JM

time pass by and JM and I fell asleep

"Dessa, JM... my children"

as soon as hear some noise and the familiar voice pass through my ears

I've wake up and found our father in sitting position already

"Papa!"- Dessa

immediate I hug my father tightly

because of the sudden commotion, JM also wakes up

"Papa are you okay?! is anything hurt?!"- JM

father touch JM's head

"don't worry about me okay, I'm as strong as a carabao"- Bobby

father is preparing to stand but flinching a little due to his wound

but thankfully he is okay

and loud noise can hear that is coming from the outside

*RESIDENCE OF THE AREA!! WE ARE CURRENTLY HAVING A RESCUE OPERATION!!*

we rush outside of our house and go to the balcony and look at the sky

there is 4 helicopter that is patrolling the area and announcing something

the zombies are growling to the sudden noise and look up as if it was reaching the helicopter and growling angrily

*RROAARR!!!*

*grRRRROOOAAA!!!*

some zombies are trying to climb at the wall but thankfully they can't reach the edge

some are trying to climb the gate of our apartment but not to avail

*TOMORROW!!! WE ARE HAVING RESCUE MISSION AT THE ROOFTOP OF THE BIG WHITE BUILDING!!*

*12NOON!!! TO THOSE WHO SURVIVE PLEASE COOPERATE!!*

"the rescue has come!!"- Jester

3 of the helicopters above has a considerable amount of survivors

and after a second the helicopter went away

some of the zombies chased the helicopter but stopped soon

*HERE!! HELP US!!!*

As the helicopter went away

there were people that is calling it but like the person at the helicopter announce, they will be back tomorrow

as i look at the right side of our building I've found some survivors and they look familiar!

"BHLEZY!"- Dessa

the person that I've been calling hears my voice and look

she founds me!

but the zombies now are not distracted to the noise of the helicopter

any noise from us will result in the rampage of the zombies at the ground and even though our gate looks sturdy

the number of the zombies are no joke and it can destroy the gate

Bhlezy went back to their house along with her family that is shouting earlier

happiness rose to my chest and found that there is hope in this calamity and my best friend Bhlezy is still alive!

our group back to the house and prepare the items needed for our evacuation but the main problem is how can we go that white big building, it is not too far it was only at the exit of our street

the main problem is how can we survive those hoards of zombies and the road is not wide enough for a group of people

"what if we split our group into two?"- J.DAD

"I think it is a good idea"- Bobby

"then our family will be the 1st group with Mrs. Silva"- J.MOM

"then we are 2nd?"- Bobby

"yes"- J.DAD

"why not us will be the 1st group to go outside and we will clear the way"- Bobby

"it is not possible for your condition now Bobby"- J.DAD

"but-"- Bobby

"We believe that our sons can make a way from us, especially the bite won't makes us suddenly become one of them"- J.DAD

my father still wants to rebut but he swallows it

"Okay we go for that plan"- Bobby

that night none of us fell asleep and we prepared ourselves for the evacuation

we cover ourselves with a small pillow and wrap it with tape

while I and JM stored most of our foods in our bag so that if there is a shortage of food at the evacuation area we can provide on our own

but because of the weight, we only bring some of the food but dozen of it are left behind

day 2

January 2

6 AM

we currently eating our ration of food and Cousin Jobert and Jester are our lookout for the morning until noon

"sister, can we really go to the building?"- JM

"yes we can"- Dessa

"promise ill make sure that both of you can make it"- Bobby

"Papa! not just both of us but WE!! we can make it we won't leave you behind"- Dessa

Papa only nod but I can see to his face that he will sacrifice himself for our safety

we make ourselves ready for the upcoming inevitable battle and all of us now are holding a kitchen knife and me holding my so-called wooden shield

11 AM

"get ready when the helicopters arrive we use it as a distraction and move by the group"- J.DAD

we answer only using a nod

and all of us are currently crouching at the balcony

we observe the happening outside and we found some people rushing towards the building but blocked by the zombies and later on eaten

*gulp*

we all swallow our saliva as we witness the massacre that his happening near the white building

the zombies are too many and most of them are attacking from the blind spot!

"let's do it, our group will move to the 1st floor now"- J.DAD

"okay"- Bobby

minutes passed, seconds by seconds and as the time is approaching more and more people now are already made to the white building

but there was a tsunami of zombies on the way already!!!

the helicopters came!!

there were 4 helicopters and they are in a box formation

because of the noise, the zombies now are like an ecstatic wild animal and trying to reach the helicopters

1 of the helicopter is on the roof of the white building

while the other three become a distraction for some zombies

my cousins family finally making their move and rushing outside of our street

there were some zombies that attack them but it was so few due to most of the zombies are attracted to the helicopter!

some zombie jump to cousin Jobert and it makes him fall down

but Jester successfully assist him

there was no time for looting because they are running against time and the number of the person being able to go to the rooftop are increasing

"We need to move now!"- Bobby

"Okay!"- JM

we run down the stairs and go out of the gate

this is total chaos there are peoples on the street that is already dead and some of them are still alive but in a minute they will die too and become a zombie!

we run side by side and the zombies that approach us are getting a push as we try to slash them

but my power is not enough and I can't break the skull of the zombie

suddenly there is this zombie that about to pounce my little brother!!

"JM!"- Dessa

but he was too focus on running and blocking the zombie at the front and not minding the sudden attacker at the back

I quickly stab its eyes deeply and accidentally drop my knife

but luckily the zombie is already not moving

"DESSA LOOK OUT!!!"

I hear some familiar voice but when i look at my side there is this zombie rushing to me and going to bite me

"AHH!!!"- Dessa

*CHAK!*

the zombie's head is already severed!

"move!"

I look who is the one that saves me but I found Brother Phil!

"Brother Phil!!!"- Dessa

"move now don't delay your family!"- Phil

"okay"- Dessa

I run to the side of my father which is now stop from advancing and planning to save me

"Are you okay!?"- Bobby

"yes, I'm okay!"- Dessa

I look back and found Bhlezy along with his family running!

"Bhlezy!"- Dessa

"Dessa!!"- Bhlezy

our family are moving side to side and any threats are being blocked

as I look at our back

I found Phil assisting his aunties and mother with his brother Rully

"Phil 3secs south, 2 secs west!"- Rully

"Okay!"- Phil

suddenly Phil becomes two!!

I and Bhlezy watch the scene with disbelieve

"what the!!"- Bhlezy

"How is that possible!!"- Dessa

and also the assisting skill of his brother is superb every second that he said is accurate

"stop using your skill you'll run out of mana soon!"- Phil

"Okay! let us get moving"- Rully

the zombies outside our street are too many but it lessened due to some of the zombies has been distracted by the 3 helicopter

but there was a barricade of zombies in front of the building!

"We are going through!"- Rexan

Bhlezy's brother shout

and both of our family are striking the zombies and slowly penetrating the barricade

and thanks to the assist of the army from the helicopters and the deployed squad at the rear our family moves faster than expected

we arrive at the entrance of the building there were some zombies but we have the number now and outmaneuvered the zombies

there were some people too at the rooftop and they are rescued one by one

we are the last in line, we can see some familiar faces, like John and Jestino achacoso with their family members

and some survivors came to and luckily we found Kristine Denisse(aka KAYE) one of my best friends

"KAYE!"- Dessa

"DESSA! I'm glad your okay!"- Kaye

"WE are GLAD that you are OKAY!!"- Bhlezy

the 1st helicopter now is full

then it switches from one of the helicopters that is distracting the zombie

their move is fluent and accordingly, their rotation of switching places are best

on the 1st helicopter, only mother and father of Achacoso family along with their youngest brother of Jhon and Jestino are rescued and already sitting at the helicopter

when the 2nd helicopter arrives the family of Kaye overtake the line and go the helicopter but angry peoples are blocking them and making them fall in the line

but their family is forcing they're way to the helicopter even though the people in line are angry they already at the helicopter and there is nothing they can do

but there was one mistake that they're family have done

father of Kaye was holding the hands his brother while Kaye is on his mother but along their forceful entry Kaye's hands accidentally slip and let go to her mother due to her eyeglasses has been fallen to the ground!

but the mother of Kaye approach her and hold his hand and successful hold it again

all along to the helicopter mother of Kaye thought the hand she's holding is Kaye but when she looked at her it was a different person!!!

"Who are you!!?"- Mother of KAYE

they brought a different person!!

and it was MM the sister of Raymart who is a friend of their daughter!!

"where is Kaye!?"- Father of Kaye

on their sit the family of Narazo was there and saw everything that happens

and suddenly Christian Narazo (friend of Kaye) stand up

"ill go get her!"- Christian

we saw Christian go out from the helicopter while we assisting Kaye because she almost got stampede

"Are you okay Kaye!?"- Dessa

"my glasses I cant see"- Kaye

suddenly an arm extended to his side

"Is this your eyeglasses Kaye?"

and when we look at it, it was Raymart(aka Dugong)!

"thank you!"- Kaye

"Kaye lets fall in line, for now, you have been separated from your family"- Bhlezy

the line is long but I think we can ride at the 4th helicopter

"Dugong where is your family"- Bhlezy

"father is nowhere to be found while mother has somethings she must do so she said that we should go along with the people to go here and luckily MM and I arrive here safely"- Dugong

"where is MM?"- Kaye

"I don't know she suddenly vanishes after we saw both of you"- Dugong

"I think I know where she is"- Dessa

I saw the face of MM inside the helicopter with the parents of KAYE!

"wow ! how come she's inside already!?"- Dugong

we also found Phil's family (Aunty Cora, Aunty Bebi, Ms. Erlinda, and Rully) squeeze in the line at the front

but he was nowhere to be found

"let's go back to my son!!"- mother of Phil

"Linda please come to your senses he sacrifices himself so that we can evacuate!"- Aunt Bebi

they are crying but the most are Mrs. Erlinda

"please!! huwaaa!! let's go back to my son!! let's save him!!!"- Ms. Erlinda

Phil's brother only cry beside her mother but they don't do anything

until they are already inside the helicopter

"Phil is left behind!?"- Dessa

"I thought they were doing great lately!"- Bhlezy

*SSSSHIIIKK!*

*THIS THE CAPTAIN SPEAKING! CAPTAIN OF THIS RESCUE OPERATION! OUR AMMUNITION ON THE GROUND IS GETTING LOW AND WE NEED TO GO BACK SOON!*

"what there is too many of us here!"

"you can't just leave us alone!"

"Please take my child!"

the building becomes noisy due to the sudden announcement of the uniformed personnel

*WE CAN ACCOMMODATE ONLY ATLEAST 3RD HELICOPTER FOR THE RESCUE AND USING THE 4TH BECAME TOO RISKY BECAUSE AS SOON AS OUR MILITARY AMMUNITION IS EMPTY THE ZOMBIE WILL STAMPEDE THIS PLACE AND THERE WILL BE MORE CASUALTY!*

"This will be chaos!"- Bobby

as soon as this announcement announced most of the people rush to the helicopter and became full in a second

due to urgent call, the 2nd helicopter swap places to the nearby collegue

and the 3rd helicopter arrive

the people rush on it and so our family also don't leave behind but the tsunami of person that wants to be rescued was too many and when we arrive the helicopter was already full also!

"please at least take my child!"- Bobby

"sorry the helicopter is already full we are going to depart!"

"please please at least take my youngest child!"- Bobby

"no dad I will stay!"- JM

"we will follow you for sure okay just please go with them"- Bobby

with the army passive expression he looks at JM

then the army look inside and check if a child-size can still fit

"okay rush!"

JM was crying so hard and not letting our fathers arms

but this for the best, father don't need to ask me because he already knew that even I, want JM to be rescued more than us

The helicopter was departed

"please come back!"

"NO!!

"you can't leave us here!!"

*WE WILL COMEBACK SOON BUT FOR NOW, MAY GOD HELPS US!*

unfortunately, we are not rescued...

our chance of surviving is very low

there are a hoard of zombies at the ground

and after the army's ammunition becomes empty our inevitable doom is already determined

"Dessa my child... I'm sorry..."- Bobby

I knew that it was too hard for Papa to decide

I hug him and cry but it was not a cry of disappointment to him

but because of love

"it's okay, in my life you're the best Papa that I ever have, and you don't need to blame yourself Papa"- Dessa

"I'm sorry"- Bobby

"let's try to survive until the very end"- Dessa

"yes, let's survive this and reunite with our family!"- Bobby

as the helicopter is ascending to its efficient height

there was someone at the door of the helicopter!!

from us, we can see a child rushing outside of the helicopter!

"its JUSTINE!!!"- Dessa

Justine's toy has been slip away to his hand and runs to catch it without caring its surrounding!!

before the toy went outside of the helicopter, Justine already grab it but due to the shake of the helicopter he was about to fall!

the military guarding the door has not been reacted immediately due to exhaustion

before the stupid child, Justine falls from the helicopter a hand reach him and pull him immediately but its strength is not enough so this person used all his strength to pull him but in exchange of it

this person is the one that is going to fall!

"my god!"- Dessa

"someone is falling!!"

all are shouting except this one man, he is rushing to where the person will be falling

his body is not big but it was large enough to protect his family

his fatherly instinct went to another level and move quickly

and the sight of his child falling from the helicopter is a nightmare for him

without blinking second by second without caring about the impact

he jumps upward to catch the falling person!

the man catches the falling person!!!

it was all in a blink of an eye

there were cracks on the ground where the man jumps

I and Papa rush to the man and found out who it was

"Sunny!"- Bobby

it was Bhlezy's father!

and the one that Uncle Sunny holding is

"Bhlezy!!"- Dessa
