Tomorrow's Midnight

KEITH GREY POV

1:08 p.m.

I pace around the house.

2:47 p.m.

Basement.

4:59 p.m.

I am watching Tv as my legs bounce from time to time—my leg itch to sprint out from the house and search for her on my own. My eyes were darting to the window and the door expecting her to turn up at any moment.

I’ve been doing this for unknown hours.

And now, it’s dark outside. My men haven’t called yet as a sign that they haven’t found her. They know not to call me if they haven’t succeeded.

9:59 p.m.

That was until my phone rang.

I pick it up, hoping it was her. I sigh when it shows Dylan’s name on it.

“Yeah?”

“She’s alright, but she doesn’t want to come back,”

I groan.

“Fix it, Keith. You have until tomorrow’s midnight,”

“Fine,” I end the call.

Why are they bossing around me?

What should I do?

Where are you, Vale?

I let out an aggravated sigh.

10:26 p.m.

I walk to the kitchen and open my fridge. I haven’t eaten after Vale leaves, and now my stomach is protesting against me.

I found a lasagna and quickly heat it in the oven.

10:38 p.m.

Ding!

I take the lasagna out from the oven, grab a spoon before sitting on the barstool, and dive for my food.

10:47 p.m.

My phone rang at the same time I finished my lasagna and saw Nancy’s name on it. She’s in my gang.

“Yeah?”

“Why is she not working tonight?” She asks.

“I lied to her,” I said, honestly. I was tired of arguing.

“Damn! Why did you add your name to her blacklist?! She freaking hate Liars!!” She yells.

I take the phone away from my ear as I gritted my teeth in annoyance. Why did I have so much many people hating my guts? 

“What’d you mean?”

“She freaking meet Kayden and his new whore at Remy’s house!!”

I abruptly stand up.

“What happened?”

There was silence before she decided to speak. My fingers started tapping on the table, showing my growing impatience.

“Do you want to know?”

Her voice now changed from anger to a playful tone.

“Damn it!! Nancy Ambrose!! Tell me what the actual fuck happened there!!” I yell at her.

“They kiss,” She simply said.

“And you freaking let them kiss?!” I yelled in anger. Standing up and pace around the room.

“Why would I stop the couple from mending their relationship?” She asks dumbly. Innocently.

“You-” I bit my lip from slipping any unnecessary words.

She snickers at my outburst.

“Ha! I know it! You both show the most obvious thing to all of us. We all saw the attraction you have to each other. But, both of you are so stubborn. And you using your power around her isn’t going to make things better for both of you. So, promise me. You’ll treat her better in exchange for her new address, will you?”

“I will, and I promise,”

I breathed heavily, trying not to yell at her for scolding me like this.

She ends the call.

Wait, what?

She freaking end the call!!

No one dares to hang up on me other than Vale. Damn! Vale’s rubbing off of her.

It shows eleven at night already. I have until tomorrow to bring her back. My phone buzz notifying me that there’s a message for me.

It’s from Nancy sending me her address. I didn’t waste any more time to grab my car key and run to my garage. I slid in my black BMW and drove off to her new address.

I know it’s risky to go out all by myself, but I need to find Vale, make sure she is safe and convince her to come back.

I followed the direction that the maps showed and came to a halt when I reach a two-story mansion. Noticing how it leads, it was in the middle of the woods and no car passing around.

Damn! Did I pay her too much?

I became aware of her gate. No one was guarding it. One thing that I know about her is she is full of surprises.T here’s no way the entrance is not dangerous. The finger scanner is more than enough to prove it. The light outside the house gives me a chance to see a few surveillance cameras moving around.

I cursed as I hide behind my car and reach for a small stone and throws it at the gates in front of me. I was right. The gate is electrocuted.

I look up to see a dim light on the right side of the mansion. Almost unseen.

I walk around the gate and grin when I saw a huge tree near the balcony in her room. I climbed on it and landed on the balcony swiftly. Relieve that the camera surveillance is not looking on my way.

I open the door to her room silently and frown when it was unlocked. She can’t be careless like this. I step inside and quietly close the door behind me.

I walked to her bed and sat on the edge, watching her sleeping peacefully.

I let out an uncontrollable yawn and decide to sleep with her on the bed. I don’t want to take a chance to explore her darkroom and trying to find her couch. Afraid that while doing so, I will accidentally knock her things over and wake her up.

Sliding off my shirt and pants, I crawl onto the bed, silently laying beside her. I was about to fall asleep when she moved to her side. Facing me and scooting a little.

I silently prayed that she won’t wake up hearing my heartbeat increased. How can I sleep without waking her up with my heart beating loud?

I close my eyes, hoping that she won’t kill me the next morning.
