VALENTINA RODRIGUEZ POV

I park my car on the side of the road. I can hear the loud music reverberating from Remy’s house.

Grabbing my phone and my bag, I walk out of my car before locking it.

I walk to the door and step into the house. I look around for Nancy’s face. There are too many people inside this house, making it harder for me to find her.

“Hey, Vale!”

I turned around and saw Remy walking towards me with a grin on his face. I furrow my eyebrows. Why does it look like he hasn’t drink anything?

“Hey, it’s been a while!” I smile at him.

Remy and I met in high school. I’m not sure if he is in a gang, but the important thing is he doesn’t know what I do.

“Yeah, it’s nice to see you again,” he chuckles nervously.

Wait, nervous?

“You haven’t drink. Why?” I raise my eyebrows at him. I mentally cursed my dumb brain.

“I’m a host, babe. Gotta sober to watch over my guest,” he grin.

I chuckle and shake my head at him, acting like an excellent host. When he was actually a wolf, hunting his prey on his party.

“So, I’m wondering if you had seen Nancy?”

“Yeah, she’s in the kitchen. Come on. I’ll show you,” Remy offered.

“Na-uh. I’ll go. Watch over your guest,” I wave him off and march towards the kitchen.

What was that?

He looks...disappointed?

That’s weird.

I’ve been here before. So, I do know where the kitchen is.

I’m about to step into the kitchen when I caught someone familiar—a light-blonde hair man on the dancing floor.

My heart elevates fast as I saw her. My chest tightens, and my heart throbs in agony. Cause, it’s hurt. It’s hurt.

The man swirls the woman, and my hands fly to my mouth when Kayden kisses her. I whimper.

No, no, No!

I can’t-won’t-cry over him.

Was it jealousy?

Anger?

Betrayal?

It made my heart hurt so damn much.

A hand tapped my shoulder, making me jump. I relaxed when I turned around and saw Nancy along with Brian. What I know about Brian from Nancy is that he doesn’t work in a gang. But we couldn’t be too sure. Nancy knows not to expose herself as a member of a criminal organization publicly, even if the police are under our control. The enemy is everywhere, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

I smile at them, strenuously.

I hope they don’t notice it even when it looks like they are both drunk.

I can’t do this with my friends.

“So, what are you both?”

I grin mischievously at them, pushing away my own emotions.

Nancy rolled her eyes as Brian chuckled and hugged Nancy from behind. I snicker when Nancy’s giggle fills the air.

“I see. You didn’t need me at all,” I teased Nancy.

“Geez. Brian has to drive his friend home. I’m going with you,”

“Really? How can you drive a car when you’re super drunk?”

I raise my eyebrows at Brian.

“Ouch! You underestimated me, Vale,” he put his hand on his chest dramatically.

I rolled my eyes at him.

“Better hurry, Nane. I’ll wait for you at the bar,” I smile at them.

Nancy nodded as I walk away from them.

Don’t look back. Come on, walk. Breathe.

I smile at Ben whose drinking with a girl on his lap at the drink section. Sitting on a barstool beside them, I get a drink for myself. Ben is another person like Brian.

“So, who’s this?”

I motioned towards the girl.

“My girlfriend,” he stated. He pecked the girl on her lips, making her blush.

“Aww! Nice to meet you...” I trailed off, not knowing her name.

“Isabella Mckelstone,” she smiles at me.

“Nice to meet you, Isabella. I’m Valentina Rodriguez,” I smile back at her.

“Yeah, me too,“ she nodded.

I gulp down my drink.

“We are gonna get a dance. Want to join us?” She said, standing up with Ben.

“Nah, I’m fine here,” I smile at them.

“See you soon!” They both said.

“See ya!” I waved.

They walk away as I take my phone out and saw five messages.

I bow my head down. So, no one will recognize me. Don’t want any unneeded attention, do we? Considering that dating the upper class is quite a handful if you know what I mean. But, then, we are over.

I open my messages, and surprisingly, it was all from the guys.

Caleb: Hey, babe... Are you okay?

Pfft... Babe? I’m gonna beat him.

Jake: Hey, Hot Chick! You better come back... Safely.

I laugh at this.

Dylan: Hey, Vale. Don’t make us worry, text me. I won’t tell anyone.

I grin. Dylan is the best.

Brett: I miss you already, baby girl. Come back, please? He’s scary. I can’t take his beating anymore, please.

Really? Poor Brett.

Keith: Princess, where are you? I’m genuinely sorry. Come back, and I’ll explain, please? They’re gonna kill me if you didn’t come back. Baby, please.

I roll my eyes at this. Ew! Why did he suddenly call me, baby? And what’s with the, please? He never begs for something-not work related-like this. Oh! I forgot. He never begs.

I text Dylan, my partner in crime on making the others suffer.

To: Dylan

Me: Hey, I’m fine. Don’t know when I’ll go back, though. I need time. Bye.

I close my phone and sigh.

5 minutes.

10 minutes.

I groan. Damn it! Are they banging each other now?

I gulped the 10th drink and got up. Urgh! I never like to live in this spinning world.

I walk around the crowd, searching for Nancy. I was about to walk again when a pair of arms embraced me from behind.

The smell of his cologne was enough to tell me who is the culprit. My breath hitched as I tried to calm my breathing down.

“I miss you. Where had you been? Why didn’t you answer my call?” he breathed the words on my ear.

“I..uh..had works to do,” I struggled to control my voice tone.

Maybe, I should act as nothing ever happened. I inhale deeply before turning around. I look at Kayden’s eyes with a blank expression and a forced smile.

I waited and waited. I felt nothing. I felt the pain tugging on my heart, but my tears weren’t coming out.

I put my hand on his neck as we silently dance on the music. I can’t look at his face that shows no guilt anymore, so I look away from him.

He lifts my chin, making me look back at him. He leans in, but I turn my cheeks on him.

His lips land on my cheek, and my heart throbbed in pain.

Bastard!

He knows he had a new girlfriend and now he’s trying to kiss his ex-girlfriend? Two-timing son of a bitch!

My blood boiled. Remy must’ve known about him cheating on me. Brian, Ben, even Nancy must have known about this. Great.

Who else has known about this?

Am I the only one who hasn’t know?

Fuck them all.

A sudden urge to confront them make my pulse quicken.

I push him away from me. Harshly.

He looks at me, confused.

I gritted my teeth, annoyed with his acting game. I clench and unclench my fist, trying to control my temper.

He was about to speak when Nancy’s face came into my view.

“I gotta go,”

I glare at him with pure hatred and anger before I walk towards Nancy.
