High Ceiling

VALENTINA RODRIGUEZ POV

I walk into the kitchen and start making breakfast. I just finish cooking when he walked into the kitchen. His eyes trailing from the floor of my house and stopped when he saw my high ceiling.

Observing my house, hmm?

My brother’s clothes actually fit his body. The bruise on his face reminds me that I need to treat on it later.

I put the breakfast on the countertop and sat on the stool. He sits opposite me. Neither of us says any words until we finish eating.

I stood up and took his and my own plate to the sink. I am about to wash it when I felt a cold metal touching my arm gently.

“Hey!!” Keith yelled.

I turned around and saw Genna, my female robot workers. I glance at the tab, and it says, it will do the work. I smile and nodded.

This is so cool.

I look at Keith and smirk when I saw his mouth gaped open.

“It’s okay Keith. She doesn’t bite,” I said.

He cough, trying to cover his surprise face even though I already saw it. My eyes squinted as I grin at him.

I walk towards the living room with Keith hot on my trail. I sat on the couch, and he sat beside me. Still not saying any word but not awkward either considering we are both too lost into our thoughts.

I turn on the TV. A few seconds later, I notice that I forgot something. I press the button under the table in front of us.

A few minutes later, a robot came into the living room with a first aid kit. I take it and notice the robot wouldn’t budge from its place. I look at it and notice it watching Keith warily with its head slightly tilted.

“Lex, he wouldn’t do any harm,” I stated.

I know their name because there is a nametag on their left chest.

It finally leaves the living room. I open the first aid kit and turn towards Keith. He was watching the robot who had its back on us as its walk away. I tapped his shoulder. His head snaps to me.

“The robot is not dangerous. Not if, you have something against it or the opposites,” I explained as he nodded his head slowly.

“Now, I need to treat this..” I poke one of the bruises on his neck playfully.

He groaned and took my wrist in his hand.

“That hurts,” he complained.

I raise my eyebrows.

“...and this...” I said as my finger trailed on his face, not noticing how close our positions are.

I squealed when he lifted me easily on his lap with his hands on my waist.

So now, I was straddling him. Tingles shot up from where he touched me.

“Take care of me, baby,” he said as he grins mischievously.

I narrowed my eyes at him as I take out what was needed from the first aid kit and treated the bruise and cut on his face and neck. Aware of his hawk eyes that were watching me the entire time.

I take hold of his hands, noting that he didn’t fight back.

Hmm... He did deserve it.

I closed the first aid kit and was about to stand up to put it on the table in front when Keith pulled me flat on his chest. My eyes widen at the sudden movements and also the fact that his heart is beating through my body as my own heart followed it fast rhythm.

A few seconds later, I push off of him and stand before sitting on his lap in a more comfortable position. His arms instinctively move to my waist.

What are we, exactly?

I sigh and lean into his chest. He holds me tightly in his arms as if afraid I would leave. The tingling sensation came back as we watch the TV and listen to each other’s heartbeat in silence.

A comfortable silence.
