Chapter 5

Kyle:

I froze staring at the guard processing what he said my mind suddenly going wild with thoughts of my mate who was bound to get herself killed if she kept up her same attitude with the king and queen.

“Close the door” I ordered, the guard’s eyes went wide as he took in what I said, but the growl that rumbled from my chest made him jump and close the door almost instantly.

“What’s going on?” Kiara asked looking confused at why I had suddenly ordered the guard to close the door when I was the one who ordered them to bring us to the palace in the first place, but this was her life at stake and I was NOT going to risk it.

“Can you and I make a deal?” I asked hope and worry lacing my voice, just the thought of her being hurt made my wolf howl and threaten to come out and rip anyone who would dare think to hurt my mate.

“What kind of deal?” She asked confused, her eyes softened at my worried expression and she slowly put her hand on my own rubbing her thumb over my clenched knuckles in a calming manner “relax”

“We’re going inside to meet the king and queen” I said slowly, my eyes leaving our joined hands to look her in the eye.

“Okay?” She asked confused.

“Kiara I don’t want you saying or doing anything that would put even the possibility of them hurting you” I said keeping my eyes on hers, her eyes looked into my eyes searching for any lies or deceit, but when she found none she nodded slowly.

“Don’t worry Kyle, I won’t do anything that’s stupid, I know it’s the king and queen standing in front of me” her words made a heavy weight lift off my shoulder and I nodded.

“What happens after we see the king and queen?”

“We’ll go to my part of the palace, or my quarter as they call it” I answered “you’ll get your own chamber until we’ve gotten to know each other, you’re sure that you’ve trusted me and accepted the mating”

“And what makes you so sure that I will accept the mating?” She asked raising an eyebrow making me smile.

“Oh love, you’re bound to accept it sooner or later, but don’t worry I won’t force myself on to you and I won’t rush anything, you take all the time you need, familiarize yourself with the palace and its rules and traditions. Then when you’re ready, you’ll simply know that you are” I kept my smile as I looked her in the eye.

She didn’t say anything for a while, but she did pull her hand away and put it on her lap as she stared out the window.

“What makes me trust you?” Kiara asked taking me by surprise.

“Do you have another choice?” I asked raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, running away” she answered mimicking me by raising her eyebrow.

“And where might you go?”

“Won’t be running away if I told you” she teased, I shook my head as a smile made its way to her lips making me smile.

“Come on miss run away, lets go meet the king and queen” I knocked the door twice and the guard opened the door before taking a step back for me to walk down and I extended a hand for Kiara to take which she looked at but ignored as she climbed out herself making me roll my eyes at her childish behavior.

I took her hand in my own and she rolled her eyes but didn’t remove her hand as we walked toward the palace door, the guards and maids bowed down to me as I passed, most of the girls murmuring between one another about the girl I’ve brought having never done that before.

Father and the queen saw us, and I smiled bowing down, Kiara mimicking my action and bowing down to the king and queen.

“Kyle my young man” father said proudly as I smiled letting go of Kiara’s hand and taking his hand in mine kissing it, he pulled his hand away and wrapped his arms around me pulling me into a hug.

“Who do we have here?” Father asked looking at Kiara “hello little one”

“King Edward” Kiara smiled bowing down to the king who smiled at her.

“You’re a human” father stated taking in her scent and she nodded as a blush crept to her cheeks “and do you have a name little beauty?” Father asked her softly.

“Kiara”

“You know Prince Kyle, if you wanted a toy to pleasure yourself with, the palace is filled with maidens who are trained to satisfy your needs” Queen Alice said making Kiara tense up and me to growl at her words.

“Kiara is my mate, and I’ve told you once Queen Alice and I’ll tell you again, you have no business on who I choose to be with or not! As for your trash excuse of maidens, keep them for your son”

I looked at Kiara who stood wide eyed at my words and I gave her a small assuring nod wanting her to know that everything was alright.

“Father” I said bowing down.

“Kyle” father smiled, he never put himself between his wife and I and for that I was honestly grateful, I took Kiara’s hand in mine once again and walking to my quarter, my breathing still heavy from what had happened.

We entered my chamber and I found my body boiling in anger at Queen Alice’s words, and Kiara seeming to notice my anger took a step back watching as I walked around not knowing what to do.

Kiara:

I looked at the prince who seemed to be having a mental battle.

“Kyle” I said softly but he didn’t answer, he just kept pacing, I could see his body boiling in anger as his wolf threatened to come out forcing him to shift out of anger.

I found a water jug and walked over to it pouring a little water in the glass that was on the table beside the jug and slowly walking over to Kyle putting a hand on his shoulder slowly massaging it.

“Drink some water, it should calm you down” I said softly, his eyes widened as he realized how angry he was and that I was there with him “it’s okay, I’m fine Kyle, but you need to drink water and calm down”

He looked at me for a second before managing to stabilize his breathing and I handed him the glass of water which he drank quickly.

“You okay?” I asked and he nodded taking my hand in his kissing it softly.

“I’m sorry you had to see or hear that” Kyle said looking at his feet.

“It’s okay” I said smiling.

“I’ll make them open your chamber and get it fixed before you can go there” Kyle said, and I frowned in confusion.

“Dylan” Kyle called and the door to his chamber opened immediately and the guard entered the chamber bowing.

“Prince Kyle?”

“Get me Nasia” he ordered.

“Yes, Prince Kyle” the guard walked out and closed the door.

“Open my chamber?” I asked raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, your chamber has been ready for four years now” Kyle winked making my own eyes widen.

“Wait what?"
