The Kelp
Author: _missmessy"Here is the salade aveyronaise you ordered, Madam," the head chef said, serving a delectable dish. It is a classic French salad that Yan Qiong assumed to be the easiest and fastest dish that can be made at this time of the day.
Wearing a bathrobe similar to Yan Qiong, the head chef, even though he already has a wife and three kids, can't help but be mesmerized at 'Nixie', the name of the woman according to their master.
"You're dismissed," the young miss said.
Usually, she would hate staying up late, or destroying her sleeping schedule, but this is far more important than her usual routines.
The dining room of the villa is a splendid sight to behold, with a white big Strauss-crystal chandelier above their heads and a glass table where the four columns are created using oak-tree. It is wide enough for eight people to seat.
This scene portrays those of in the medieval era, only that, it is made of modern materials. It's not even a mansion yet the intricate design and wide space resemble one. The floor used a gray tone ceramic tile flooring while the wall is in a lighter shade of gray with gold unruly lines as embellishment.
The wide double casement window that is on the right side of the dining table was opened for the fresh sea breeze to come in. It smells a bit salty, like the ocean.
No one bothered to cover the window with drapes as the Qiong's specifically requested for a house where the natural light and breeze can come in anytime, thus, the reason why huge windows can be seen in every corner of the three-tiered house.
On the left side of the dining table, a black imperial staircase resides, this is two staircases spiraling down a rectangular dark gray carpet for a soft landing.
It was around 3 am when Yan Qiong eventually managed to help Nixie dress up and guided her to walk.
It's unsettling as to how the girl doesn't know how to even walk, maybe, she's not pretending to be stupid...she really is!
Yan Qiong can only shake her head mentally, what use of beauty when one is dumb?
It's like a beautiful fish, sure, it is filled with thousands of colors and is dazzling to look at, but at the end of the day, it is still a fish, nothing more but a mere substance less creature.
Her eyes pierced through Nixie.
'Why isn't she eating the salade aveyronaise?'
Instead of munching the cuisine from France, Nixie merely stares at it curiously.
"Is there something wrong with the food?"
"It has an animal in it..." Nixie replied blankly, this earned her a raised eyebrow from Yan Qiong.
'It has bacon lardons in it, of course, it has animal meat if that's what she's referring to' Yan Qiong snickered replied at the back of her mind.
Sipping another drip of wine, she waited for Nixie's next action.
"I don't want to eat it," Nixie said, pushing the bowl afar like a child throwing tantrum over a plate of vegetables she doesn't like.
At this point, Yan Qiong doesn't know what to do anymore, she's tired with all the teaching and asking stuff to Nixie, this is similar to having born a child, the only difference is that she gave birth to a goddess.
"Are you a vegetarian?" she asked while circling the wine glass in her hand. She needs to sleep in a few minutes, she cannot afford to look like an ugly swine on the day of their auction.
"A vegetarian?" Andromeda asked cluelessly, tilting her head slightly to the right while her turquoise eyes are filled with inquisitiveness.
Yan Qiong mentally face-palmed, aside from the basic words, this woman knows nothing!
If patience is the only basis for making money, Yan Qiong would be on the streets now, begging for food to eat. She was known for being hot-headed, yet, why does she keep answering questions this woman threw?
Heaving a long big sigh, her lips opened and gave words.
"A vegetarian is a person who doesn't eat any meat and other animal produce"
Without any choice left but to answer her queries, it felt like she adopted a new child, although it never occurred to her to have one, she's too young and pretty to think of getting married so soon!
"Ah...um, I see, I guess, I am one" Andromeda replied while nodding, she admits that her stomach is already grumbling and begging to taste kelps or any other food. But she prefers kelps...
Reminiscing its sweet yet nutty flavor, the dark brownish eukaryotic algae is incomparable to the bland salad in front of her. It's filled with red, green, and darkish red that is supposed to be the meat. In her eyes, it's one of the most unappealing things she has ever seen.
Her eyes went up to see what Yan Qiong is up to but as she is at the far end of the table, she cannot hear what the woman is saying to what appears to be their cook.
As the Princess of the Sutra Kingdom, instead of keeping her mouth shut, Andromeda's lips opened to suggest the one thing that keeps her drooling over.
"Do you have any kelps?" she nonchalantly asked, her turquoise orbs remained unfazed upon the probing eyes of Yan Qiong.
The head chef exchanged looks with his boss before Yan Qiong nodded in agreement.
"We can make a salad with the kelp as the main ingredient," the cook replied, moderately raising his voice as he is located on the far end of the table too.
"I just want kelp..." the dazzling beauty replied in return. Her voice bears a resemblance to the chiming sound of bells in a breezy Saturday afternoon. It was mellow and soft.
With that voice and appearance, the chef didn't question further and hurriedly went back to the kitchen...to grab a plate full of kelps and made a juice out of kelps.
Is it weird that a person is obsessed with kelps? It's for garnishing purposes, yet in this dish, kelp is the main ingredient, the appetizer, and dessert.
People have weird fetishes, this must be one of hers.
'W-wait, is it the kelp that produced a beauty like that?' the question lingered on the chef's head.
'Because if it is, I will feed my wife tons of it'
