Chapter 4:

Amelia [POV] 

       After work, I got called to  complete the paperwork's  for my new Condo.

I love the fact that its has a chic and classic look that reminds me of Paris. The last place I traveled with my parents,  so calm and peaceful. I'm a freak when it comes to home makeover, for few days I refurnished it into a rustic living room, it has so much space. I colored the living room wall white splashed with bright pink paint. That give it a mixture of rustic and contemporary design. I feel so warm in my new apartment. This is a new beginning for me, luckily I will feel free in my own place without worry about coming between my bestie and her boyfriend. I took out time to go Furniture shopping. 

I walked into Home paradise  furniture shop, I bought kitchen cabinets, a tall dresser, a tufted  bed, side chairs with my favorite bright pink color to complement my light pink bedroom wall. A pink sofa, a Canaan oak acrylic console tables and a lot of things to make it feel warmer. 

After I paid, the house moving agency delivered everything and arrange them according to my illustration.

Before I head home, I went to catch up with Layla at work, it been long since we got out together maybe this could lessen our pilled up misunderstanding. I could tell her about my plan to move out so we could stay as friends like before. Layla works in marketing department in New York district.I tried calling her but she wasn't picking. I decide to go inside her office, her colleagues informed me she had already left for work. I was a bit disappointed as I walked out of her office .  

       While walking past a restaurant, where we usually have lunch beside her office, I was marveled by what I just witnessed my supposed date and his wife with Layla looking happy while they laughed and chat together. 

This is unbelievable, I took a picture as evidence, Layla needs to explain this. I asked one of her colleague I saw outside the restaurant, if he know the woman, and he told me the three of them works in the same marketing department and they weren't married. So she plan on playing a practical joke on me. 

Not to mention the fact she was so relaxed after the entire  incident, never bother to confront him. 

      That evening, I waited patiently for her returne, I tried to be calm but my frustration was killing me as I paced around the room repeatedly.  I recall times when Omar comes around she snapped at anything I do or say things to make me look bad or stupid in front of her boyfriend, so I usually stay out anytime he comes around to let them have their lovey dovey moment together. 

     She walked in , looking all bubbling, bouncing everywhere complaining how work was hectic, she really has a lot  coming out of her lousy mouth. When she noticed that I wasn't paying any attention to her. She stared at my angry face blankly 

" what's wrong? " 

She asked looking all concerned like she really cared as she dropped her bag on the sofa. 

"I just want you to explain this?." 

When I showed her the picture I took she was shock and mute. 

"Talk to me! Layla, am I such freak you choose to play some crazy prank with."

I shouted 

"Its not what you think?."

"It not what I fucking what?, Do you really know how I feel right now, my best friend set me up to look like a cheap slut in front of people, I got humiliated and you say shit to me!."

I was in so much rage right now. 

Suddenly the look of remorse was replaced with hate. Her facial disguised suddenly dropped  as she raised her eyebrow to challenge me. 

    "Fine, I hate the fact that I have to compare myself with you, the way Omar looks at you and I hate the fact that I feel insecure anytime you around him, I can't stand and pretend to be happy with everything so I wanted you to make you look bad and I don't feel bad doing it." 

she said with full determination and a big smirk on her face that says

wow!  I finally said it.

   "So I decide to prank you with a fake date." 

I gaped at the words that flew out her mouth, not cause I was surprised about her insecurity but the fact she could go this far and still act like she cared about me. 

Now am really overwhelmed with reality, I got a sick bitch as a friend, I just feel like giving her a good beating . 

I need to clear my head! 

"Well, you win, "

I said as I raised my hand to surrender. 

"I'm sorry if I made you feel  that way but you should have talked to me, we are friends not strangers, all along I thought I had a friend I could count on but I never know she was blaming me for what I have no idea about.

    " I don't feel like been in the room with you right now, and FYI am moving out tomorrow. " 

I closed my room door with a loud bang. At Least I can't still drop a bomb on her.
