Chapter 16 A Clown

That man was none other than Kent Logan.

After answering Sean’s call, Kent could not sit still for another second and arrived at the site the soonest he could with his gang. Being able to claim credit before Tyler was something he could only dream for previously.

“Mr. Zand, what do you think? Should we break his arms or legs?” Kent was extraordinarily calm when he asked as though this was just a common occurrence.

On the other hand, Graham was panicked to death as he knew Kent well enough to know that his words were definitely not for show. One word from Tyler and he would actually do it.

“Master Logan, Master Logan, spare my life. I’ve assigned Sean to assist you with your matters,” begged Graham.

“Don’t beg me. Go and ask Mr. Zand,” responded Kent.

‘How did a useless adopted Son-in-Law like him became such close friends with Kent?’ As much as it bothered Graham, his only way out of this was to beg Tyler for mercy.

“Tyler, please forgive me. I’m your future Cousin-in-Law after all. Please forgive me on the account of your wife and my fiance are cousins…” Graham knelt before Tyler.

“Aww, look at you… I didn’t say I would do anything to you.” Tyler tapped Graham’s cheeks.

Tyler thought about forgiving Graham this time due to the very fact that Tiffany was Ramona’s cousin.

“Thank you, Brother. I won’t ever look down on anybody from now…”

Tyler did not bother if Graham would do as he said and left the scene after chatting with Kent.

Just as he was about to enter his room to rest, he noticed Susan was trying to convince Ramona about something.

“Ramona, you have to go and meet Young Master Kingsley today. I heard the water park construction has commenced. We have to renovate Fairview Villa as soon as possible! Who better to help us now than Young Master Kingsley?” Susan pressed.

“Mom…” Ramona bit her lips. As much as she did not want to have anything to do with Philip, it seemed like the only way out.

They lack ten million in funds and there was no other way besides asking for Philip’s help.

“Let Tyler come along, it’s better for him to be there in case Philip tries to do something fishy.” Ramona noticed Tyler’s arrival and suggested to Susan who was obviously displeased by it.

“Him? He’ll only make things worse. You think Philip will be happy to see him there?”

“Mom, I insist. Otherwise, I’ll give Fairview Villa up.” Ramona was resolute.

“Fine, fine. He can go,” Susan unwillingly agreed.

On the other hand, Tyler did not say a single word before entering his room and made time to give Percy a call...

After lunch, Tyler drove Ramona and Susan to Kingsley Group as Susan had made an appointment with Philip at his father’s office. Funds were not a matter Philip had a say in, hence the reason Susan had to speak with Philip’s father.

They soon arrived at the Kingsley Group’s lobby entrance.

“Aunt Susan, Ramona, you’re here!” Philip had been waiting the whole morning and was dressed exceptionally smart today.

“Philip, is your father around?” Susan asked with an approving smile as she just loved the sight of Philip.

“Yes, Aunt Susan. Please, follow me.” Philip was eager to please Susan and did not forget to check Ramona out at the same time. However, Philip immediately scowled once Tyler got out of the car.

“Oh, you’re here too?” Philip pouted his lips as he saw Tyler. He was still planning his revenge on Tyler for yesterday’s matter.

Susan signaled Tyler not to cause any trouble there as all of them headed toward the office building. On the other hand, Tyler was not interested in entertaining Philip, the clown.

“Greetings, Young Master!”

Two female employees respectfully greeted Philip as soon as they entered. He did not forget to check Ramona’s reaction out as he heard them.

Unfortunately, Ramona did not even bat an eye which made him slightly disappointed. However, Susan was greatly envious.

‘This is how it feels like being rich. Just look at Philip... How great!’

“Aunt Susan, Ramona, allow me to introduce you to my father,” introduced Philip proudly while treating Tyler like a nobody. A rich-looking man in his forties was seen resting on his office chair when they entered the Chairman’s Office.

He was none other than the Chairman of Kingsley Group, Hudson Kingsley.

“You must be Miss Zimmer. Come, have a seat.” Hudson politely invited them in without standing up. He must be feeling that proud of himself.

Susan dared not act casually before Hudson out of respect. She was asking for a favor after all.

“Greetings, Mr. Kingsley,” Susan greeted with her widest smile.

“Dad, this is Ramona. I’ve mentioned her before.”

Hudson suddenly realized why Philip was head over heels for this woman. His eyes gleamed with admiration as she was indeed very pretty!

He suddenly thought of an idea as he was silently admiring her beauty.

“Miss Zimmer, Philip has explained to me about your visit here today. In terms of funds, I can invest ten million,” offered Hudson generously.

“That’s great! Thank you, Mr. Kingsley!” Susan was very grateful for such an easy quest! Little did she know...

“Don’t thank me yet, I’m not done talking. On one condition, I demand 50 percent of the property’s profit.” Hudson did not beat around the bush and Ramona frowned as she heard it.

It was such a harsh condition to request! Hudson only invested in the project when Fairview Villa’s construction works were nearing the end. Immediately asking for a 50 percent return right after investing was ridiculous!

Tyler smirked. Both Philip and his father were such shameless buggers.

“Mr. Kingsley, that’s not quite appropriate…” Susan was caught off guard as she had not expected Hudson to be this greedy.

Hudson teased, “Hehe, I believe you and I will not be having this conversation today if you could amass the funds amounting to ten million? However, it will be a different story if we are related as I’ll only ask for a 20 percent profit share…”

Susan understood the meaning of this. As long as Ramona agreed to divorce Tyler and married Philip, Hudson would only request a 20 percent profit share. Susan could accept his term for a 20 percent profit share and would be even more glad to become in-laws with the Kingsleys.

She naturally looked at Ramona.

Philip was ecstatic! He was already picturing a happy-ever-after with Ramona.

On the other hand, Ramona wanted nothing more than to leave that place with Tyler.

“Mr. Kingsley, someone from Universal International arrived and asked for Miss Leighton,” informed Hudson’s secretary.

Hudson was surprised. They were dull by comparison with Universal International.

“Hurry, let her in.”

“Yes, sir,” replied the secretary.

Soon after, a pretty lady in her twenties entered the room and the first thing she did was to throw Tyler a lovely smile—charming.

Tyler was not the slightest surprised by this as it was all arranged by him. The lady who arrived was none other than Yvette—Percy’s assistant.

“Greetings, Miss Leighton. Mr. Zand has tasked me to discuss the project with you,” Yvette explained.

“Mr. Zand wants to work with me?” Ramona was in shock.

“Yes.” Yvette smiled.

“How does this work?” Ramona was still doubting her understanding. Why would Mr. Zand—a person with such high social status—want to work with her?

“It’s regarding the Fairview Villa. We’ll take over the reconstruction without you having to pay a single cent,” explained Yvette.

“There must be a catch...”

“There’ll be no terms and conditions for this offer. Please rest assured that we do not ask for any returns or profit-sharing,” reassured Yvette.

Ramona was stunned. This was a jackpot! Ramona could not understand… It seemed as though Mr. Zand was doing charity instead of an investment!

Susan was also staggered and had to pinch her lap to determine that this was not a dream.

“Don’t worry, Miss Leighton. This promise made by Mr. Zand and Universal International is not a scam. Goodbye.” Yvette left the room as soon as she dropped that.

Philip was tongue-tied as he thought he had nailed the Ramona deal. This counterattack had put this deal on a fierce competition.

Hudson almost fainted as he sat on his chair in a daze and was unable to regain his composure. Just a moment ago, he was being prideful and arrogant when offering his investment and suddenly his previous pretense was akin to a clown’s.

He was a total hypocrite when compared to Mr. Zand’s generosity!

Ramona took almost 30 seconds to regain her composure. A wide smile painted on her face as she did and Tyler was happy to see her smile.

“Scam! It must be a scam!” Philip exclaimed after his daze. One could hear confusion from his voice as he was rather lost.

“That’s still better than daylight robbery.” Ramona glared coldly at Philip before turning to Susan and urged, “Mom, let’s go home.”

Susan was already on cloud nine as she was extremely touched by Mr. Zand’s generosity. Her prayers were heard! The Kingsley family’s financial aid did not matter anymore.

“Mr. Kingsley, forgive me for not being able to accept your terms.” Susan turned around and left together with Ramona and Tyler.

Hudson punched the table out of anger. “We almost sealed the deal! F*ck. Has Mr. Zand gone out of his mind? Why is he working against us?”

“Dad, I’ll do a background check on him.” Philip was fuming.

“Check your *ss! Didn’t you pay attention? He’s from Universal International. So what if you know about him? What are you using to leverage with the Zand family?” Hudson berated.

Philip stood corrected. There was nothing he could do to the Zand family as they were not someone they could afford to mess with.

Susan could not hold back her excitement on the way home.

“Mona, how do you know Mr. Zand?”

Ramona was confused. In fact, she did not know Mr. Zand personally.

“I’ve never seen him, Mom.”

“You don’t have to hide from me. Why would he help us without knowing us?” Susan was not convinced.

Ramona could only smile. She did not explain herself further because Susan would not believe it.

Tyler, who was driving, found the scene funny.

‘Mother-in-Law envied the Kingsleys. She should now be thinking of the Zand’s…’ She had always liked those with more money and power.

What if she found out that Mr. Zand was actually her son-in-law?
