                             Chapter 12

"Hmmm nothing better than having a good Sunday sleep"

I muttered to myself as I slowly began to wake up. I do my usual morning prayers, did a little bit of yoga, and decided to hit the shower.

After spending the needed time in the bathroom, it finally clicked that I was missing something but I just couldn't place my hand on it quite yet.

Since I couldn't figure out what I was missing I decided to push that thought to the back of my mind and carry on with my day.

After finishing my business In the bathroom, I went into the closet to pick out something casual to wear and decided on a pair of grey joggers and a black tan-top and I left my wet hair in wild waves to dry up by its self.

At this moment I began making my way downstairs towards the kitchen. I was only a few steps away when I heard my mom singing one of the lullaby songs she used to sing to me as a kid back then in Moboga of Tanzania.

Oh, I used to love it when she sang it to me. I still wish she could now but I'm pretty sure it'll be weird singing a lullaby to your 16-year-old daughter.

I arrived at the kitchen and my mom senses my presence. She stopped singing and it took a minute for her to organize her emotions before speaking.

"Your father and I used to sing the song to you when You were little... He was the sweetie man I've ever know... Even though it was hard during my youth dating the young prince and soon to be king, I certainly never gave up on our love. "

" Mom, it'll be alright mom. I'm sure he is in heaven now and he really wouldn't be happy seeing the love of his life so sad. so cheer up"

" Of course you're right. We are gonna treat ourselves to a feast."

She pauses for some dramatic effects wiping the stray tears that stained her eyes clearing her throat, she gave off the pretty smile that always seems to wipe away all nightmares, with that look on her face she said the next feet word's.

"Let's get cooking for what would your father's birthday be without us to celebrate it for him in Moboga style"

After her statement, it finally clicked. That was what I was trying to remember in the shower this morning, urgh I mentally scolded my self. How could I possibly forget the 23rd of September my dear father's birthday

I gave her a reassuring smile as I joined her in taking care of the dishes we used last night for dinner.

5 minutes later my mom was at the door all dressed up and ready to hit the road to get us some fine groceries for the feast we were going to make for my father.

"Alright,t Uwana you make sure that everything is set especially the ingredients okay, I'll go get some more ingredients to make this day memorable."

After her last words. She left with her car to get some groceries leaving me to carry on with the task of putting the living room and kitchen in another. Once I was done I went ahead to watch TV while waiting for my mom's arrival.

2:35 pm

I heard a slight knock on the door and at first, I thought it was just breeze because the weather was getting cold. The person knocked again but this time a little hard.

I got up from my seat and wondered who it could be as I headed toward the front door. It couldn't be my mom since she has the Key to The house.

I heard the knock again and before answering the door, I heard the beautiful voice of Ethan that informed me of his presence on the other side. As I opened the door I was greeted with the perfect set of teeth smiling down at me.

"Hey Uwana whatcha doing."

"Hi just kicking back and relaxing, Tomorrow is Monday and it's probably gonna be a long day"

"Oh, cool speaking of relaxing the weather sets the right mood doesn't it."

"Yea, it sure does. so...what are you up to"

" Oh nothing just wondering if I could go for another run in this really chilled weather with my partner in crime"

He responded with a big grin and I only chuckle in response

" Very funny Ethan but I can't race with you today"

Immediately I said so a small look of disappointment flashback in his eyes and this only made me feel bad for turning him down so quickly.

" Hey it's not that I don't want to have another fun adventure with you, it's just I have something very important  to handle with my mom"

" Oh my bad is she around"

"Oh no but she'll be back soon and I want to be around to receive her"

" Oh, I see. I guess we'll go for a ride another time."

He responded and with that, he left my pouch and I closed the door quietly.

Just as I finally got comfortable on the sofa I heard another knock on the front door and this only got me a little annoyed for them were interrupting my favorite show.

After a few minutes of wishing the person knocking would just go away, I reluctantly went to get the door and to my surprise, I hear Hazel's voice sounding soo strained. I opened the door to help her and my mom who was right behind her with all the groceries they had.

From the look of all the things they got, this is... It is going to be fun cooking. Especially since Hazel was here she could learn a thing or two from our cooking experience. The dish we made was

Pilau is one of the dishes prepared only when there is a ceremony or during the weekends. It is a rice dish flavored with spices and prepared in stock whereby poultry, meat, fish, or hard-boiled eggs may be added. It is originally a dish from West India but is now popular in the coastal areas of Tanzania.

Mchemsho, it is one of the special Tanzania foods. The dish is served in the northern part of the country. However, despite its deliciousness, it is not eaten on a daily basis due to the many ingredients needed to prepare it.

This makes it quite expensive when compared to other local meals. Ingredients include carrots, potatoes, green beans, eggplant, cabbage, onions, bananas, tomatoes, ladies finger, sweet pepper, and spices.

Nyama Choma is the one meal that can be described as essentially Tanzanian and indeed East African, it has to be Nyama Choma- which means grilled meat. It is a barbecue of goat, fish, or chicken, with barbecued bananas or Ugali as side dishes.

And my no 1 favorite Ugali, I've loved it right from when I was little. It is considered as Tanzania's national dish. It is a stiff dough prepared with cornmeal (maize meal), cassava flour, sorghum, or millet.

The dish is usually served with a sauce that contains either fish, meat, cooked vegetables, or beans. And I couldn't be more than happy to prepare all this meal for my departed father with the help of my mom and Hazel...

" Gosh Uwana! this is amazing why didn't you ever tell me you and your mom we such amazing cooks. Girllll THIS IS  Mind blowing!!!! The whole world needs to see these!!!"

Hazel said with so much enthusiasm and excitement bouncing of here. Just when she wipes out her phone to capture all of this I roughly snatch her phone away from her and threw it toward the wall in the living room.

Just when it was about to hit the wall she dived in to save her phone hitting her back slightly on the wall. The next thing I saw was a very pissed off Hazel talking to me through her clenched teeth.

" What in the world! Uwana what was that for! You almost crushed my phone."

"Sorry Hazel I panicked and that's what happens when I panic, besides I won't let that Evil thing capturing my special moments it's gonna ruin it"

I responded in a very sad tone

"Well, you could have just said so not trying to damage it by throwing it 2miles away from Me! Gosh, do you know how important this phone is, and it is not evil except you to use it in an evil way then it evil. Hmmm, I think it's time I taught you what a mobile phone truly is."

"Ehem enough with that discussion girls it's time to set the table."

And in response to my mom's order Hazel and I responded

"And let the feast Begin!!!"
