Chapter 15 : Mama's take on Android

                                     Chapter 15

"oh hello hazel, did know you Live here now"

My mom greeted with so much sarcasm And I was wondering if Hazel did something wrong behind my back.

I couldn't do much but to just stare blankly as my Mom retreat to the kitchen to pick up her dinner.

"It's ok uwana I get that a lot"

She said in a nervous giggle just to break the ice.

"So you wanna see the cool thing an Android can and can't do"

She asked and this finally got my attention back to her. I smiled at her silly attempt to change the topic and I hand her are own ice cream which had already melted a bit I sat close to her as she began introducing me to her Android.

" First off Androids have different brands and this particular brand I'm using is Tecno. There are actually other brands but it depends on which suit's you"

" Ooh huh no wonder you guys are soo hunged up on it"

" Actually there is a whole lot more to an Android than meets the eye... It is soo much bigger than You know"

"I see"

" So let's start with a selfie"

" Oooh what are those"

I asked feeling all excited being introduced to the source of craziness amongst my pairs. And she only shakes her head as she demonstrates what a selfie is. Bringing out her phone she draws me up close and we take a quick shot together with her give her pretty smile and I gave her a confused look in the picture. She rolls her eyes as we took our sit back and she explained what just happened.

"Soo this Android you looking at can do so many things. The first is its primary purpose of making calls, that way we don't always have to be in the same room or same place. I could just get your caller ID number also know as your phone number and bam I could get you where ever you go. As long as you know... you are with your android phone."

" Wow, that is some mad ass technology I had no idea things had developed this much."

" Huh well, were you when all of this was happening."

"Well, we where were moving from town to village to country trying to run away from my Fathers nemesis who apparently wants my life."

I replied all in one breath and this causes Hazel to chock on Her last spoon of ice cream as she covers it up with a nervous laughter

" It's OK Hazel nobody expects that either"

"Okay well this is a shocker, did not see that coming. But any way we all got people on our tails everywhere"

" Really"

" Yeah, but it's all good, I'll protect you"

And I laughed a little how on earth is that gonna work if she doesn't know half of who I really am. I smiled at her supportive comments as we move on to the next thing.

" Moving on we have the text message now that is a whole new world because there are different brands as well, who kinda own a text message company some of, this brand are WhatsApp, messenger, facebook, Instagram, pam chat, Snapchat and many more."

" Wait is this how you got a message from Hugo"

" Yep the same Hugo that you didn't want me to go to his party"

" Oh shut up! I saved you "

" Yea right... so moving on the brand I'm currently using is Instagram and WhatsApp, like everybody In school is in That thing including the soul called nerd's. Basically this is how we keep up with the latest information like there is a fight in the cafeteria, or Hugo and his girlfriend had a big fight, or the principal is Having an affair with one of the teachers you know , the juiciest information you could even think of. This is how we find out."

" Whao this is actually pretty cool"

"Yea but the only uncool part is when you are the subject of ridicule. I mean how uncool would it be if people were pointing fingers and talking smack about you for being the cause of the fight at the cafeteria especially when you had nothing to do with it."

"Yea that could really hurt, I mean that is some serious false accusations."

And just when hazel was about responding my mom interrupted.

"And that is why you are not getting yourself an Android phone. You Are the future of our people uwana, they are not on in some dumb Android phone you people keep feasting your eyes on"

" Yes you are right mother but you need to know the people out there can  also be right here on this Android phone. They are only one click away mom."

" Well I refuse of you to use it. Darling you are  only Seventeeeen, young persons like you shouldn't be allowed walking on the streets with this Android things. It gonna get you in trouble worse it could get you killed!"

" Mom I promise that's not what's gonna happen, I'm Seventeen 'plus' now I can take care of my self and besides hazel's got my back"

" Oooh you mean the little red haired girl who's dedicated to whatever things girls your age do, well yeah don't come running to me when it... whatever this is all blows away. Because I hate to say. I told you so"

"Alright, mother I promise I'll be extra careful... So can I get an Android phone"

"  No! there has got to be a way around this. I don't want you being imprisoned and tortured by that, that Android thing"

" Mother I promise I will be careful, bedsides the only reason why I'm getting an Android is because I'm offering a compulsory course that requires Me too, so please let me get this Android thing and I promise I won't let you down"

" Well, of course, you wouldn't you are my shining light, after all, my Uwana. I love you soo much and I don't want to see you get hurt ok. You can get your self an Android phone along as it's required in school"

"Thanks, mom, you're the best"

"Of cause, now I just hope I don't regret the decision of letting you own one of these Android things."

After having a short but heated conversation with my mom, I did a peaceful head to head connection with my mom. I enjoyed a few minutes in her arms before she retired to bed.

Once she was out of earshot Hazel and I conclude on when to get my phone which was the next day.  A few minutes later we headed to bed for it was a school night.

Even after my body connected to my bed I still couldn't help this queasiness and uneasiness I felt in my gut. A part If me wanted an android phone, the source of excitement amongst my peers, yet another part of me felt it was a terrible idea and my mom was 100% right.

I closed my eyes pondering on today's event, especially what my mom said. It keeps replaying in my mind and I began to wonder what my mom saw that made her so against androids much. After a while pondering, exhaustion began to kick in, I slowly closed my eyes letting sleep take over.

"you are the future of our people Uwana, they are not on some dumb android phone."

"How do you know that grandma, you've never used an Android phone before"

"oh you foolish child, there is more to an Android phone than meets the eye. Remember uwana even if you feel safe, there is danger hiding in every corner."

"I don't understand grandma what are you trying to say?"

"danger is inevitable my child be sober and vigilant for you never know what type of danger awaits you."

"Grandma what are you saying? You are scaring me?!? Grandma!!!"
