Chapter 68 The Moment He Hugged Her

They were having so much fun solving their problems with violence when someone came along and became a hindrance.

She was the wife of the vice president, so she knew her stuff. Despite only seeing his back view, she could immediately tell that John was someone extraordinary just by looking at his clothes.

She waved her hands to stop the women. Her tone was sharp when she questioned, “Who are you?”

“You have no right to ask me this question.”

After he said that, the cold man turned his face around and said, “Greg, call the cops.”

With this, the old women who were holding the eggs and tomatoes started fleeing. However, at this moment, the hospital’s security came forward and stopped the women who were making a fuss at the entrance of the hospital. They had already been alerted after hearing the commotion that was going on.

When Mrs. Johnson saw that, there was fear on her face.

She had nowhere to run. Mrs. Johnson was so terrified that her face turned green and purple. “Y-Y-You… Do you know who I am? How dare you call the cops on me!”

When he heard that, John did not say anything. He only gave her a look as if to say ‘I do not care who you are’. He grabbed a battered Natalie and walked to one side.

He took off his suit jacket and placed it over her shoulders. He said in a low voice, “Are you alright?”

How could she be alright?

However, at this moment, Natalie could only shake her head without saying anything. Looking at her red eyes, the man’s eyes became dark again.

It felt like there were needles in his heart. He felt extremely uneasy.

He had wanted to send her to work today. However, since it was the open day of his daughter’s school, he decided to go to the school instead.

Even though it was just one morning in his daughter’s school, he experienced a lot of feelings that he had never felt before. The feeling of being a father was indeed different.

He kept feeling like he should tell her about how he felt. Therefore, when the tour ended, he came straight to the hospital without even having lunch first.

However, he did not expect to see this when he arrived.

He kept on saying that he hated this vain woman, but when he saw her curled up in a ball while being attacked, he still rushed forward to help her without hesitating.

When he held her, her trembling body caused his heart to start trembling as well.

He could not imagine what would happen to her if he had not decided to come here at the very last minute.

His heart was in pain.

This was the first time he was like this for a woman who was not Becky. Plus, he was not sure if it was his illusion, but he felt even more heartbroken after seeing her trying hard not to cry.

At that moment, he started to become even more ruthless. “Who are those people? What’s going on? Why are they doing this to you?”

Since she felt wronged, Natalie only pouted and did not say anything. Zoey, who had been attacked along with her, could not stand it anymore. She started shouting, “It’s all because of that heartless Mr. Johnson in your office. Natalie saved his life, and yet, this is how he repays her! Those women were complaining about her and even taking revenge on her.”

After hearing that, Mrs. Johnson started yelling as well, “What nonsense are you spewing? What do you mean that she saved my husband? It’s because of her misconduct that my husband’s body is ruined now.”

“Who told you that Mr. Johnson’s body is ruined because of her misconduct?”

“The doctors here told me.”

“Which doctor?”

Mrs. Johnson gulped when she was faced with Zoey’s overbearing interrogation. However, she still refused to tell them. “O-Of course I can’t tell you. Why should I tell you who it was and let you guys go after them when they had only told me the truth out of the kindness of their heart?”

“You’re being smart now. Why didn’t you think with your smart brain whether or not they were lying to you?”

Zoey wiped the egg white from her face and gritted her teeth. “Natalie is the best surgeon in the thoracic surgery department aside from the director. If she can’t take care of your husband’s acute pneumothorax, do you think she’ll be here in such a big hospital as Huahe?”

When Mrs. Johnson heard this, her face went dark. However, she was still stubborn. “You’re in cahoots with her. I don’t believe you.”

Zoey wanted to stomp her feet because of this woman’s irrationality. Then, she pointed at John. “Hey, aren’t you going to say anything?”

When he heard this, John averted his gaze from Natalie and glared at the fat lady. “I did not know that a smart man like Mr. Johnson has such a stupid wife. I feel so sorry for him.”

“What did you say? Are you humiliating me? Don’t think that I won’t sue you!”

After he heard that, Greg walked over in an orderly fashion after calling 911. He interrupted, “Mrs. Johnson, are you not worried that Mr. Johnson will be placed in an awkward situation when he goes back to the office with you talking to the president like this?”

“Who are you? What the hell does that mean?”

“I am the president of the Winters Corporation’s assistant.” After telling her about his identity, he pointed at John. “Let me introduce you. This is the president of Winters Corporation, Mr. John Winters.”

She knew that he was someone extraordinary. However, when she heard that he was John Winters, Mrs. Johnson’s fat face almost contorted from fear. “W-What? You’re Master Winters?”

After successfully scaring Mrs. Johnson, Greg did not stop there. He continued, “In regards to what you’ve said just now, as one of the witnesses, I need to make some clarifications. That day, Mr. Johnson fainted in the office because of his illness. If Dr. Snowden had not treated him in time, he would have suffocated to death before the ambulance got there.”

It was a completely different statement. Mrs. Johnson did not know what was the truth anymore. “How is that possible? I heard that she stabbed my husband’s heart and punctured his lungs. That’s why my husband suffocated.”

“Who told you all these? Are they certified doctors? Are they certified professional doctors from the thoracic surgery department?”

“Um…”

Mrs. Johnson was puzzled by this question. It was true that Jessica was not a doctor from the thoracic surgery department. However, the person who told her that Natalie had mistreated her husband was indeed Jessica. She had no reason to lie to her, right?

When she thought about this, Mrs. Johnson started talking overbearingly again. “At the end of the day, she’s someone trustworthy. Plus, she’s also a doctor from Huahe.”

“Then, who’s this trustworthy doctor?”

If other people were to ask her this question, Mrs. Johnson would have chosen to ignore them. However, when she remembered that John was her husband’s boss, she knew that she could not offend him. “Never mind, since you’re Master Winters, I won’t be afraid to tell you. Miss Winters told me this. She wouldn’t have lied to me, right?”

“Was it Jessica?”

“Yeah! It’s your sister. You should know if she’s the doctor of this hospital or not, right?”

After he heard that, John said directly, “She is a doctor here indeed, but she’s only a houseman.”

“Ah… H-Houseman?”

“Plus, she’s not the houseman of the thoracic surgery department.”
