Friends only
Author: MJ Opera“So is your rich and well connected boyfriend picking you today?” Jess, a girl who works at the company Kola placed me in, said spitefully.
“I have told you that he is not my boyfriend.” I sighed, she will just continue to attack me, and she hates the fact that I didn’t work as hard as she and her friend did to get a job here, well the rumors said she slept with one of the senior officers in charge of recruitment to give her and her friend acceptance letter but then an order came from the owner of the company that I am to be placed on the team so her friend was dropped.
“So friends with benefits then. All these girls that won’t keep their legs closed and using their bodies to get to places where the rest of us got with our brains.” Jess said a little too loudly as the rest of the students who were sharing an office with me turned to pay attention.
It was blatantly obvious that I got in here with connections and what was annoying me was that they were acting so high handed when also got in through connections. “I didn’t use sex to get in here like you, Jess. I am not that low.” I responded as she flew up from her seat.
“Say that again, say it again and let me knock all your teeth out of your mouth for that lie.” Jess raged getting into my face after spinning my chair to face her.
I sighed as I stood up. “This company frown against violence of any kind, if we do fight you will be fired but I will resume work the next day with only a reduction from my salary, it won’t even enter my form.”
Jess grinded her teeth but she didn’t say anything. “Unlike you, your sugar daddy will not help you. None of them can especially if I do tell my friend to tell his not to allow you return here. So Jessica, try me. I dare you. Raise your hand to hit me for calling you a whore.” I spat at Jessica who stumbled back from me.
“You okay babe?” Kola voice sounded from the door as I smiled.
“Yeah, you are early.”
“I wanted us to see the CEO before getting dinner, I would like to introduce the two of you.”
“Okay, let me log off.” I tell him with a smile as I switched my computer off and grabbed my things. “That will be the last time that you will gang up on me or talk crap about me.” I tell all of them before leaving the room. Let them know me as a bitch, I didn’t care.
“And she got her bitchy face on.” Kola rested an arm on my shoulders as I adjusted my bag.
“I don’t have a bitchy face.”
“Honey, your bitchy face is your amour, the one you put on for people you don’t like. The one you got on now.” Kola pointed out as I released a sigh and glared at him.
And the one I don’t wear when I am around him. He didn’t add that one but I was sure he was thinking about it. He must have started to notice the way that I have been acting lenient towards him, I needed to hide this crush I was having for him a little better. “Why do you want me to meet your friend?” I asked instead.
“For you to make at least one sure connection in this internship you are doing because you are not playing nice with your fellow interns, you are making enemies instead of friends.”
“It isn’t my fault, they all gang up on me, and I have been telling you about it.” I protested as Kola nodded.
“Of course, it isn’t your fault, you didn’t act high handed when you met them and you certainly didn’t act like a bitch when they first tried to talk to you and you didn’t act like a showoff too when you corrected an account which they all failed at.” Kola listed and I cringed. Okay, I may have given them a good reason to hate me.
“Shut up.” I mumbled at Kola who laughed at me.
I have been acting like a bitch most of the times, it was Kola that made me see it, and I discovered that the attitude was a defense for me and it was with Kola and Ivy that the defense was ever fully down. It made me feel lonely when I realized it.
“Hey, you are okay?” Kola looked at me worriedly and my heart skipped a beat at his caring action.
Stupid organ, he does this for everybody. I tried to tell myself but it still didn’t change the fact that my crush for him couldn’t be reasoned with. “Super Duper.” I replied but he chuckled.
“You need to learn how to lie better my dear, you suck at it.”
When I frowned at him, he raised his hands in defense, “I’m sorry but it is the truth”
“So, are you not concerned that this your friend might take an interest in me?” I teased as u changed topic while he laughed, he knows how I always changed a conversation when I couldn’t answer again.
“Why will he do that? He got easier girls for him.” Kola replied as I smiled.
“But if he did.” I pressed.
“Nothing I guess, after all I am sure that you will be angry if I stopped him, we are friends and only friends so it doesn’t really concern me.” he said with a shrug as I tried to maintain my expression. The door opened and Kola ushered me past the secretary past and into an office which a man was sitting behind the desk.
Apparently, that was all I was and will ever be to Kola, a friend

MY PERFECT MATCH Our happily ever after.
“Who is it?” I shouted as I stood up, a little woozy from my excessive drinking even though my head was clearer now. I opened the door without looking. “What?” I screamed into the face of the person.“Gross. Try that again and I will hurt you.” Stella threatened from my door step as I blinked a couple of times to determine that she was real. “So are you going to let me in or am I going to force my way in?” she demanded and her words broke me out of my stupor, I stopped blocking the doorway so she could enter.“Stella what are you doing here?” I asked her as I shut the door behind her and followed her to the sitting room.“If you are not happy to see me just tell me now so I can leave?”“What’s the point, you are leaving either way.” I tell her not referring to her leaving my house. Her sa

MY PERFECT MATCH It isn’t enough
Today was the day. I breathed out heavily, hoping to release the tension I was feeling but it didn’t help. I was going to attend Tomi Traditional marriage, the white wedding was tomorrow but I wasn’t sure I could get the chance to have a private chat with Kola then.“Are you sure you want to do this?” Bode asks.“Of course, she will so be worried about my presence, I want her to feel uncomfortable a little bit.”“But it is Kola brother who is getting married, why will the bride feel that way?” Bode asked again as I smiled at him. He doesn’t know the full story and no matter how much I was upset with Tomi and Kola, I wouldn’t tell another soul what happened since it can affect her happily ever after. I didn’t get mine because of her but that doesn’t mean that I will repay evil with evil.“Okay oh, let’s go.” Bode said as I smiled and came down from his car the same time he did and rou
MY PERFECT MATCH fairy godmother
Uncle Tony made good of his threat, he left jail the next day after posting bail. He also sent men to kidnap me but the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crime Commission) swooped in and arrested him. Apparently, according to the small information that I could hear while I was still bundled up in the kidnappers nest when everything had gone down, Uncle Tony was being investigated, had been for a while and that someone tipped them off that something was going to happen to me so they watched me too and used this to pin Uncle Tony down.“… Chief Anthony decided to confess his crimes for a reduction in his sentence, from NTA, I am Aisha Yusef reporting.” Bode clicked the TV off in my hospital room.“We need to celebrate.” Bode turns with a flourish and a grin so wide, you could probably count his thirty two teeth.“Alcoholic beverages please.” Ivy added after letting out a whoop and a shocking waist roll that
MY PERFECT MATCH The talk
“You asked to see me Kola?” Tomi asked as she entered my office, she must have gotten my text the night before, I sent it the night before and I couldn't care less when she got it. It didn't matter to me if she had to rush here. Somehow she must know that this is our last time together.“Have a seat.” I tell her. When she sat down she started to talk but I didn’t call her here to listen to her talks, I called her here for her to listen to me. “I never meant for you to be unhappy Kola, believe me…”“Stop, I am not in the mood for your apologies. Why did you do it? That’s all I want to know, why on earth were you convinced that you like me or that I liked you, yeah sure, I might have liked the idea of us being more but that was because you were a safe place for me, why did you have to ruin it?”“Because I thought we would be more.” Tomi
MY PERFECT MATCH Confrontation
“Are you sure that, that is what happened?’ Ivy asked gently but still annoying. This is the sixth time she was asking that question within the hour that I have gotten home, Bode is still in the sitting room while I was changing, and he wanted to see me calm first
MY PERFECT MATCH Heartbroken
I don’t know where I was driving to. All I knew was that I had to get away from Kola before I would run him down and I needed to get as far away from him as possible. A police checkpoint was ahead of me and when I stopped in front of them, I tried to cl

Ever since I lied to Stella on the phone, I haven’t been able to seat still, the guilt was too much for me. I didn’t even know why I did it, after all Tomi was a friend and I could spend my lunch break with Tomi…why was I hiding my location from Stella
