I was in my office reminiscence on how well I and Stella clicked, that was last week but I still couldn’t stop thinking about that day. After my boring investment talks with Victor which surprisingly was not boring to Stella, I learnt that she was a business management student and also not as bitchy as she had acted, she did have her moments when her character threatened my patience but she did apologized later and we spent a wonderful time together. And she also chose to call it a non-date, that girl is very hard headed and that was what was keeping me interested in her.

Her stubborn attitude has it’s uses because I think if she had been like every other girl, she won’t be in my passing thought but she somehow got hold of my thought process and I couldn’t even think of Tomi as usual which was a first in history because I had always thought about that girl.

“This has gone on for far too long.” Tomi said as she barged into my office without knocking. I frowned at her.

“What has?” I asked.

“And finally he speaks.” Tomi cheered sarcastically.

“If you are here to dust up your mocking skills I suggest that you get back to your car and drive to your boyfriend, he will totally love to help you with that task.” I tell her as I made a big show of returning my attention back to my laptop.

“What’s wrong with you?” Tomi snaps at me.

“Nothing, just finally doing what you wanted.” I replied her.

“This isn’t you… you are not so spiteful.” Tomi argues as I sighed and looked at her, Tomi looked good as always, everything on point, she didn’t look like she spared any tension over what was happening to us, I frowned at the thought, does that mean that the girl was so secured of her place in my life that she saw all our quarrels as fake threats because I was the one who always made peace? Well not this time.

“Like you knew me at all.”

“Adekola, what is that supposed to mean?” She demanded as I raised an eyebrow at her tone. Did she think that I was hers to order like a small child or what? Only my mother can take that tone with me.

And her too it seems, as I sighed. No matter what my knowledge on the matter is, Tomi always got an answer from me because I wasn’t the kind of person who could give her the silence treatment to her face.

“It means that you never knew me.” I replied.

“All because of a silly comment that I made, you know that I didn’t mean it.”

“Yes you did Tomi!” I stormed at her as she jumped in shock. “If you didn’t mean it, you would have retracted it, you never did and still didn’t. You knew it would hurt me and yet you didn’t.”

“I…” Tomi started to defend herself but I shook my head.

“Your words won’t make a difference Tomi, I don’t need to explain where you are in my life, you already know. It’s right besides those people who prefer my brother to me. Until I feel that will change, that is where you will be, can you please see yourself out?” I asked.

She didn’t say anything, she was shock and speechless for a minute before she huffed and walked out slamming the door after her. There went my good mood and happy thoughts. I picked up my phone to call Victor but I changed my mind at the last minute and called Stella instead, she picked almost at the last ring.

“What?” she asked rudely.

“Can’t you answer your calls normally?” I asked her as she hissed at me.

“None of your business, what do you want?” she asked.

“I miss you too.” I said drily.

“Who said anything about me missing you?” She retorted quickly, a little too quickly to be anything but a lie.

“So if I said that lets go see a movie tomorrow, you will not agree?” I asked her.

“It depends.”

“On what?”

“If you are really saying it.”

“Will you go on a movie date with me tomorrow?” I worded just to rile her up and I tried to hold in my laugh when I heard her coughing like she swallowed wrongly.

“You demon, no I am not going on a movie date with you.”

“We have to meet up sometime you know and when we do it will be referred to as a date.” I told her.

“In your mind shey?” she quipped as I laughed.

“No really, are we on for tomorrow?” I asked her.

“Yes Kola, we are. Text me the details early oh, if you want me to make it.”

“I will Damsel” I replied and ended the call before she would start ranting about her nickname. I started laughing as I imagined how riled up she will be when a knock sounded and my secretary, Blessing walked in.

“Are you alright sir?” she asks.

“Yes and please Miss Tomi is not allowed to barge in anymore before I am informed, do I make myself clear.”

“Yes sir.” She replied quickly.

“Also re-adjust my calendar. The time I spent with Tomi, add a section of it for business meetings and if it is close to closing put Stella’s name there and get me the contact of some firms that are in need of interns. I have an I.T. student I need to place in a good position.”

“Yes sir.” Blessing replied looking up from her note pad which she just finished jotting down my words. I could tell that she wanted to ask who the I.T. student was or who Stella was so I just told her.

“Stella is a friend and she is also the I.T. student.” I tell her as she nodded and left and I was alone once again and determined this time to get to work. Those documents will not review their selves.

MY PERFECT MATCH   Our happily ever after.

“Who is it?” I shouted as I stood up, a little woozy from my excessive drinking even though my head was clearer now. I opened the door without looking. “What?” I screamed into the face of the person.“Gross. Try that again and I will hurt you.” Stella threatened from my door step as I blinked a couple of times to determine that she was real. “So are you going to let me in or am I going to force my way in?” she demanded and her words broke me out of my stupor, I stopped blocking the doorway so she could enter.“Stella what are you doing here?” I asked her as I shut the door behind her and followed her to the sitting room.“If you are not happy to see me just tell me now so I can leave?”“What’s the point, you are leaving either way.” I tell her not referring to her leaving my house. Her sa

MY PERFECT MATCH   It isn’t enough

Today was the day. I breathed out heavily, hoping to release the tension I was feeling but it didn’t help. I was going to attend Tomi Traditional marriage, the white wedding was tomorrow but I wasn’t sure I could get the chance to have a private chat with Kola then.“Are you sure you want to do this?” Bode asks.“Of course, she will so be worried about my presence, I want her to feel uncomfortable a little bit.”“But it is Kola brother who is getting married, why will the bride feel that way?” Bode asked again as I smiled at him. He doesn’t know the full story and no matter how much I was upset with Tomi and Kola, I wouldn’t tell another soul what happened since it can affect her happily ever after. I didn’t get mine because of her but that doesn’t mean that I will repay evil with evil.“Okay oh, let’s go.” Bode said as I smiled and came down from his car the same time he did and rou

Uncle Tony made good of his threat, he left jail the next day after posting bail. He also sent men to kidnap me but the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crime Commission) swooped in and arrested him. Apparently, according to the small information that I could hear while I was still bundled up in the kidnappers nest when everything had gone down, Uncle Tony was being investigated, had been for a while and that someone tipped them off that something was going to happen to me so they watched me too and used this to pin Uncle Tony down.“… Chief Anthony decided to confess his crimes for a reduction in his sentence, from NTA, I am Aisha Yusef reporting.” Bode clicked the TV off in my hospital room.“We need to celebrate.” Bode turns with a flourish and a grin so wide, you could probably count his thirty two teeth.“Alcoholic beverages please.” Ivy added after letting out a whoop and a shocking waist roll that

MY PERFECT MATCH   The talk

“You asked to see me Kola?” Tomi asked as she entered my office, she must have gotten my text the night before, I sent it the night before and I couldn't care less when she got it. It didn't matter to me if she had to rush here. Somehow she must know that this is our last time together.“Have a seat.” I tell her. When she sat down she started to talk but I didn’t call her here to listen to her talks, I called her here for her to listen to me. “I never meant for you to be unhappy Kola, believe me…”“Stop, I am not in the mood for your apologies. Why did you do it? That’s all I want to know, why on earth were you convinced that you like me or that I liked you, yeah sure, I might have liked the idea of us being more but that was because you were a safe place for me, why did you have to ruin it?”“Because I thought we would be more.” Tomi
