CHAPTER VIII TRAPPED

Angela’s PO

I prepared a wide smile on my face as I enter the library. I came here late so I’m expecting that Lucifer would be here ahead of me but I didn’t see any trace of him inside except the usual messy-look of the library.

He’s not here yet? Hmm..

Is it possible that he doesn’t want to see me anymore because of what happened the other day?

I roamed around the library and saw a black cellular phone on the floor under one of the tables. If I’m not mistaken, it’s Lucifer’s phone. But, why did he leave it here? Did he forget to take it with him?

“Hey, little demon.”

I suddenly heard a hoarse voice of a man behind me so I quickly turned around to face him but as soon as I did, he placed a handkerchief on my nose. I smelled something and the next thing I know is that I lost my consciousness.

I slowly opened my eyes and almost jumped when I saw Lucifer laying his head on my shoulder while sleeping so soundly.

I looked around and realized that we’re inside an elevator. When did I come here? Wait, as I can recall someone made me smell a drowsy handkerchief which made me unconscious and now we’re here.

I tried to feel our surroundings and I realized that the elevator never opens. I can’t even feel it moving.

Lucifer suddenly moved as if he was about to be awakened so I looked at him and wait until he opened his eyes.

“Where are we?” he asked, while touching the back of his head.

“Lucifer… I think w-we’re trapped inside an elevator?..”

His eyes widened as soon as he heard what I said.“W-what?!!”

He quickly stood up and looked around. “W-What the fuck?!”

I also stood up and tried to push all the buttons of the elevator but its seems like it’s not working.

“W-WHO DID THIS TO US?!! WHO THE FUCK DID THIS?!!!” Lucifer growled.

"I-I don't know.. Someone just made me inhale something that made me unconscious a-and when I opened my eyes, I-I just saw you here.." I replied

"FUCK!"

He began cursing to himself while walking around the elevator like he already want to break it just to be able to go out.

"L-Lucifer.."

All of a sudden, he sat down on the elevator's floor while his palm is on his face. He's still swearing and I can see how he's sweating excessively.

"L-Lucifer are you alright?" I worriedly asked him but he didn't respond. He began sucking his thumb like a kid while mumbling.

"I-I don't want.... t-to d-die... I don't want to die....."

He's sweating a lot and he's trembling too. Does he have a claustrophobia? I think Lucy had already mentioned that to me before. I never thought that he would act like this. He's so far from the Lucifer I used to be with, he's too scared...

I sat beside him and tried to comfort him but he pushed me away. "GO AWAY! STAY AWAY FROM ME, YOU SCUMBAG!!!" He bawled at me. His hair is so drenched by his sweat that he looked like he just took a bath

"Lucifer I-I just..."

"I-I don't want to die.... I d-don't want to die!" he repeatedly mumbles to himself.

I just noticed that tears began cascading down my face. I don't know why but it makes me feel upset seeing him like this..

I used to see him as a Lucifer who doesn't even smile and someone who has a very strong character. Someone who fears none.

I was too carried away by my emotions that I just found myself pulling him towards me for a hug. He was trying to push me away again but I didn't let him go.

"I d-don't want to die here..." he mumbles.

He's too scared, and I can feel it. His whole body is trembling with fear and his skin feels so cold.

"You won't die here Lucifer.. I won't let you die here.." I replied, trying to comfort him.

"I d... don't want to die..."

"Ssshh.. You won't die Lucifer... I'm here.. I won't let you die... You're safe here with me..."

Upon hearing what I have said, he hugged me back. "P-please.... Don't let me die here... Don't leave me alone here..." he muttered.

"I won't, I promise."

After a few minutes, he stopped mumbling and trembling. That's when I find out that he's already asleep.

I tried to let go from the embrace but he hold me even tighter like he'll never want me to leave.

Lucifer...

I just hope that somebody would find us here.. Someone please help us..

Lucy’s POV

"She's not here." I told Rafael as I scanned the whole library.

“Then where could she be?” he asked, impatiently.

It’s been an hour since we start finding her. She usually comes earlier before the closing of Rafael and I’s duty but this time, she never appeared. And it’s such a super rare incident.

“Do you think she already went home ahead of us?” I asked him which made him more upset than I thought he would be. Ugh, Lucy. You’re such an idiot to say that.

“Angela never leaves us without informing us at least.”

“You’re right. But where else she could go?”

“I don’t know..”

We continued searching for her around the library when I suddenly heard loud noises from the outside.

‘OMG Who trapped them there?!’

‘I don’t know! But who’s that girl?’

‘Maybe, his girlfriend?’

‘Fuck, no way!’

I know I shouldn’t be doing this but I can’t help myself from getting curious about what the students are talking about. It’s my school after all so I guess I have the right to know every gossips here.

“Excuse me?”

The two girls who were noisily gossiping a while ago almost jumped from where they were standing when I approached them. “M-Miss Lucy..”

“Would you mind sharing about the conversation you’re having right now?” I politely asked.

It’s obvious from the look on their faces that they are hesitating to tell me about it but the other girl beckoned his friend to spill it already. “Someone trapped Prince Lucifer inside the elevator..”

“WHAT?!!!”

“They said that someone planned to trap him there. They intentionally stopped the elevator while the Prince is sleeping in there.” The other girl explained.

“WHERE IS HE?!”

I didn’t notice Rafael who’s already behind me.

“A-At the f-fifth floor..”

Without any pauses, Rafael came dashing towards the staircases up to the fifth floor. I ran after him until we already arrived there.

So many students are congested in front of the elevator that’s why we had to shove ourselves towards them just to be able to see what’s the commotion was all about.

I was left utterly-smitten the moment that I saw Lucifer and Angela, sitting next to each other with Lucifer’s head leaned on Angela’s shoulder. They are both still unconscious.

Even Rafael couldn’t believe what he’s seeing.

‘Is she his girlfriend?’

‘Oh My God. 

‘Tell me it’s not happening.’

All of us were just staring at the two of them as if we’re witnessing a spectacular movie.

All of a sudden, Lucifer opened his eyes. His gaze automatically landed on Angela who’s still leaning against him.

I thought he will get mad and hurt her, but he didn’t. Instead, he gently placed her head on the other side, making her lean on the elevator’s wall. He stood up and looked at all of us. He was a bit surprised seeing us but he managed to maintain his emotionless face and started stepping out of the elevator.

His footsteps are all that we can hear. Before he finally left, he looked at Rafael.

“Bring that retard to the school clinic.” He said, then continued walking away.

WHAT.DID.HE.JUST.SAY?

I looked at Angela. I suddenly felt something inside my chest.

“Angela!”

Rafael ran towards Angela and carried her on his arms.

I’m just looking at them like an idiot who just witnessed a murder.

“Let’s bring her to the clinic.” Said Rafael.

“Huh? Uh.. yeah. O-Okay..”

I started walking behind Rafael while my mind’s still in deep thoughts. So many questions are in my head right now. Who the fuck trapped Lucifer inside an elevator, why did he bring Angela with him there and what happened between the two of them alone inside the elevator?

Angela’s POV

“Angela! Thank God you’re finally awake!” the eased expression on Rafael’s face was the first thing that I saw as soon as I opened my eyes.

I looked around to see where am I.

I thought I was still inside the elevator.. Thank God..

“How do you feel right now? Are you alright? Did Lucifer hurt you?”

Lucifer..

“Where’s Lucifer?” I asked.

“He went home already.” Rafael replied.

“That’s good..” I heaved a sigh of relief.

“Are you alright?” he asked again.

I smiled at him. “I’m alright. You don't have to worry about me, Rafael.

He let out a deep sigh. "That's good to know. By the way, do you have any idea how did you end up being stucked there?"

I shook my head."All that I can remember is that somebody made me inhale something and the next thing I know I was inside the elevator with Lucifer."

"Maybe that bastard has something to do with this that's why he decided to left already."

"Huh? that's impossible Raf--

"LUCIFER WIILL NEVER DO THAT!"

Both Rafael and I were surprised by Lucy's sudden voice raising. "S-sorry..." Lucy apologized.

"It's alright, Lucy. You're actually right." I tilted my body towards Rafael as I spoke. "Lucifer has claustrophobia.. I don't think he would do something that would cause him harm too.."

And the fact that he's too scared a while ago.

“I’ll send you home.” Rafael insisted.

“No, I have something to ask best friend so you go first Raffy. I’ll just send her home.” Lucy said

Huh?

Rafael still wanted to insist but I told him that it’s fine for me.

“Okay. Just be sure to send her home safe, okay?”

“Of course.”

We just waved Rafael goodbye then we stepped inside Lucy’s car.

“What is it that you wanted to talk about with, Lucy?” I asked her as soon as we get inside his car.

She didn’t respond instantly. It’s obvious from her face that she’s hesitating to say it. “Actually best friend…”

“Huh?”

She looked straight into my eyes. “I just wanna ask about what happened between you and Lucifer.. 

“Oh. Actually, I don’t even know how did we get there. All I know is that someone—

“No, not about that.” Lucy interrupted.

I looked at her with confusion. “But, what do you want to know?”

She sighed before responding. “What I mean is, I want to know what happened between you and Lucifer. Inside the library, with the two of you, alone together.” She clarified.

“Between me and Lucifer?”

She nodded.

“Actually, I was shocked when he suddenly panicked inside the elevator.

“H-He panicked? How?”

“He did sweat a lot and he looked so pale. He’s shaking too and he’s been swearing a lot saying that he doesn’t want to die..”

“Oh My God…”

“It really surprised me when I saw him like that, I didn’t know that’s how panic attacks would look like.” I continued.

Just thinking about that incident makes me so sad..

“Then, what did you do?” Lucy suddenly asked. “Did you do anything to comfort him? D-Did he pushed you away?” she added, aggressively.

“You don’t have to worry about me Lucy. He didn’t hurt me and—

“WHAT DID YOU DO?! TELL ME!”

The expression on her face somehow scares me. “U-Uh. Y-yes. I did comfort him to make him feel better. At first, he tried to push me away but when I finally convinced him that he’s safe with me.. H-he stopped pushing me away and he was able to fall asleep..”

I didn’t get any respond from Lucy. She just stared at a blank space for a while.

I wonder what she’s been thinking… I think something really bothers her.

“Best friend..”

“Huh?”

She tilted her body towards me as she speaks. “Promise me to answer my question honestly.”

I blinked. “O-Ofcourse..”

“D-Do you like Lucifer?”

“WHAT?!”

I was so surprised with her sudden question.

“Please Best friend.. answer me honestly..”

“I don’t have feelings for him Lucy.. I just want to be his friend. I know how much you love him so there’s no way that I would allow myself to get romantically attached with him.”

“Is that true?”

I nodded.

She let out a sigh of relief. “Best friend.”

“What is it? Is there something that still bothers you?”

She shook her head. “Nothing. But I want you to promise me one thing.”

“Promise you? What is it?”

She held my hand and looked straight into my eyes. “Will you promise me that you’ll never fall in love with Lucifer?”

I tightened my grip on her hand and gave her a reassuring smile.

“I promise.”
