"The sky there is ever blue, crystal blue, with that mild wind blow at the same speed. The air smells warm and sweet, always has and always will. The trees are in the greenest green, the creek the azurest azure, and the flowers so colorful that it blinds you, but that IS their goal, to blind you." Nonoth's voice suddenly rose with the "is", and then went down and slow after that, giving out a scary and dark vibe. The creatures gathering around her gave out a sudden shiver and reduced themselves a little subconsciously.

"Who are 'they'?" A little mouse asked, hands holding on to his chest as if his own question scare himself.

"They say they are my parents, but I know they are not." Nonoth's voice had a convincing certainty within.

"But how could you know?" A cat tilted her head and asked.

"They just say everyone is their child. How could they expect me to believe that when I'm the only one with blue hair there on the cloud? They both have golden locks." Nonoth waved her hand as if it's nothing important that two people claimed to be her parents were lying about that, adding: "and not just them, all of their children also have golden hair."

"But why do they want to blind you?" The little mouse asked again, as if using up all the courage he had ever gathered in his little chest.

"Good question!" Nonoth commented with a loud noise and the poor little mouse jumped up and hid behind the cat.

Nonoth stopped deliberately for a few seconds, looking around as if worrying someone might be listening, and then she opened her mouth again with a low voice: "Because they are afraid, afraid of remembering the truth. So they hide on the cloud, and not just them, they won't let anyone else know either because they won't be able to pretend anymore if the lies are exposed." There was a shocked but also confused look on the creatures' faces.

"When I finally made my escape and got off the 'beautiful, perfect' cloud, I saw the real world for the very first time and, it was so different from up there in the cloud!" The creatures around Nonoth gave out a low "ohh" with wide-eyed looks on their faces.

"It turns out, the real world, the world that's only a blur to you when you live on the cloud, is in horrible pain. They only hide on the cloud, so that they won't have to deal with the pain and suffering!"

"The day I made off the cloud and got into the real world, I saw the color of the sky, messy and dirty and with so many shades -- not like today!" Noticing that one of the mushroom sprites looked up to the clear blue sky over their heads, Nonoth added the last part of the sentence and the short mushroom quickly lowered his head and focused his eyes on Nonoth again.

"And there was such a huge wind that it would take you right off your feet," Nonoth nodded at the fairy with a pair of huge wings in the shape of maple leaf that's taller than himself, "the air smelled dusty and bloody and there was no flower nor grass nor tree in my sight."

"Sounds like life on the cloud is perfect..."In genuine confusion, the poor little mouse commented. He had been living all his life trying to get a little bit more safety for himself.

"It appears so, and that's exactly how they blind you: with the beautiful lie." This was the first time that Nonoth ever took such a serious tone after they gathered here for her story.

"They formed this eternal garden for themselves so they can live in their little bubble of blindness of all the hardship of the real world below them. They have all the liquor to drink and all the cuisine to taste; they swim in the crystal-clear creek and dry their body under the warm, soft sunlight; they sleep under the black sky with stars as their little lamps and the night wind their lullaby. But they barely talk, because no matter how much there is to say, there comes a day when you would finally finish saying it when your life is an eternal loop with nothing new; they barely move because the creek's song is no longer appealing to them, and the days and nights are only two different colors passing their eyes without them noticing."

"Why? Because when putting all the hardship behind, they also have to give up desire, happiness, and most valuable of all: hope."

"If they can form a perfect life for them, why not just keep the good ones?" The logic of comparison was obviously lost on the cat.

"Because they can create everything they need, but not emotion. Emotion is something emerges only when you interact with the world, and the good ones only exist where the bad ones are not extinguished." Nonoth shook her head, as if that was her own thought, not one she just stole from The Tree.

"You desire when you want something but could not have, but they have everything they can ever want on the cloud; you know happiness only if you have experienced sadness, but everyday up there is basically the same; and hope, hope is the best of all. Hope is knowing the possibility of realizing your dream exists, and just that thought can give you courage, which is a warm feeling flowing in your heart."

"Even though it's hard to live in the real world with all the suffering and pain and loss, even though you have to suffer and endure and work, but you get to feel, to hope, to live. They used to know that, they just forgot."

"So how did you know all these?" The cat stopped licking her paw and looked up at Nonoth.

"Because they dare not abandon these wisdoms for good, so they just hid it away, somewhere safe and close to them so they can be sure it won't get lost but also sure that no one were to reopen it..."

With a bewitching smile, Nonoth continued with the answer: "So they hid all the forgotten memory, in the apples of The Tree."

Little Witch Nonoth   011-The City of the Desert

By the time Nonoth realized Jack diverted the topic off her question with his "big discovery", they were already under the huge gate of the City of the Desert.Nonoth wasn't expecting such a magnificent city, especially when it was a city located just outside of a wide desert with few people ever to visit. And those are the rare in the rare, only like adventurers or people who doesn't have to eat, in short, those who has a death wish, or those that are already deadBut this city was one of the few cities that Nonoth had come across in the years after she left the cloud, looking for her identity. With an enormous gate almost 100 meters tall, the city was surrounded by six as high walls that were made of huge irregular stones. The very question of how long did it took for those who built the city to finish this master piece takes long for one to get even just some idea."The coin is getting hotter so we are close. They are definitely inside the city." Nonot

"Why are you following me?" Nonoth stopped again and ask the boy."You took my silver coin." The boy was surprisingly calm."And I offered you a piece of gold for that." Nonoth sighed, started the conversation they had had for several times now."I don't want your gold." The boy answered, again."I need the coin to track my friend, who was taken by the owner of your coin." Nonoth said, again."I want to tag along." The boy said, obviously not gonna give in on that."And I told you, you cannot. They are obviously dangerous people. I can't guarantee your safety." Nonoth sighed again. She didn't have the heart to use spell on this boy who just wanted to help."You took my silver coin." The boy said."..."It actually would be easier if Nonoth take the boy though, cause her tracking spell tracks all the person who has ever touched the c

Little Witch Nonoth   009-Soil, feather and leaf

Soil from the earth, given by the mother of all;Feather that never fall, granted by fatherly heaven;Leaf from a tree, the symbol of life; They see all they show, they show all they seen...Murmuring the spell, Nonoth summoned Azurite and lit up the soil, feather and leaf lying in the magic circle in front of her.It was a complicated and rarely used tracking spell. Nonoth got it from an old witch who was so old that she constantly forgot where everything was so she put her cabin under this spell all the time.It re-creates the image of a place for the last 24 hours so you could see where what you are looking for went. Normally witches only need something that's been in contact with what they are looking for and track them with a simpler spell through this media. This spell is for when there is no such thing, such as in this case, where Nonoth didn't have anything of Mal.

"Who ARE you!" Nonoth yelled at Lili in rage."I'm Lili. We just met last night. Aww, you forgot me that quickly? I'm sad." Lili said with a chuckle, somehow made it sounded like she was not sad at all."You are an evil witch!" Nonoth burst out with anger."That I'm not, I can assure you." Lili was still cleaning, well, wiping the bar with a just as dirty rag."You drugged us, didn't you?" Nonoth crossed her arms in front of her chest, inquiring Lili."How horrible!" Lili put on a so very obvious fake shock: "I did no such thing! I guess Ravenlick IS a bit too strong for two kids, so I AM sorry for getting you drunk.""I'm not a kid! I have had liquor more than you can imagine when I was living on..." Nonoth swallowed the words "the cloud" back, thinking it might not be wise to give "the evil witch" anymore information of her. So after a short hesitation, she finished her sentence w

"Hey, that's my drink!" Mal protested with laughter hiding not very well in his tone because there was now a Nonoth clinging onto his drink."..." Nonoth just sipped on the drink, not answering. Yes, she would admit she didn't expect such a bouquet from a so turbid liquid, but that was not the only reason. In the warm and sweet taste, hid a faint familiar scent. It was a scent carrying a refreshing smell like a cool breeze in a summer night, but in the meantime a mild, moist texture, like the sunshine in a winter afternoon. It's a taste of happy and safe, tender as silk.It had a scent of Azurite."Maybe..." Nonoth murmured to herself. But with deep doubt, she didn't finish that sentence.「Could it be? Could it be her mother that was making this brew with her magic? But how could it be? For all those years that she has been missing, she was here making a dirty brew in a shabby taver

"Lilith, demon of the night, ha?" Nonoth repeated, with a smirk on her face."Human has a thing about dark, don't you think?" Mal laughed at the sarcasm in her tone."Yeah, they blame everything horrible to the night, and they think everything of night horrible, haha. I think it's a fear they created by themselves."Mal thought carefully for a while and shook his head: "Phantasms are for fools and those who are too lazy to seek the truth. They shall see night's beauty and that of the creatures wandering in night if they simply just look.""You don't say!" Nonoth nodded, adding: "I do admit that night can be dangerous to some people, but the irony is that, that danger comes mostly from human themselves, cause those with ill-intent dare only do evil under the protection of darkness.""They seek for protection from darkness, yet still speak ill of it." Mal said, "That's not nice.""Hah
