Chapter 8: Questioning Cassie
Author: CizziWhen I got back to school, I realised that I had been gone almost all day. It did not really come as a surprise, considering that the trip to Freya and back had taken me most of the night. Even though I had got to Nick's house in the morning, the demon realm was a bit tricky. Time worked differently there and it did not always follow the same laws of physic as the human world, but keeping in mind that all its habitants are immortal, it should not really be a chock that things worked differently there.
There was no point in getting to class, as school was supposed to finish in less than ten minutes. I saw that I had a text from Cassie, but again I did not see any point in texting her back as I would be seeing her soon enough. I decided to conjure up my car, as no one was around in the car park since the school had not finished yet. Afterwards, I decided to wait until Cassie walked out form school.
A moment later I saw Cassie walking out next to Leah, she looked a bit worried but when she caught my gaze, she waved and seemed to relax a bit more. Cassie said something to Leah before she left Leah behind and walked towards me. I pushed myself up from my leaning position and went over to meet Cassie. When I reached her, I gave her a hug, some sort of memory flashed in my mind as I felt the shock of us touching go through me.
It happened very quickly but I think I saw myself and someone else sitting in a field. I was sure that it was Cassie, but I did not get a good look at the face. The mental image disappeared quickly and when I recovered, I look up at Cassie and told her that we needed to talk. I was sure she could sense the urgency in my voice as she quickly agreed to go to my house.
We got into the car and I drove out of the school car park and started making my way home. I apologised to Cassie over the fact that I had not texted he back. Cassie was being uncomfortably quiet, and I quickly took my eyes away from the road and looked at her, but she looked fine to me. I had so many things going on in my head that I was struggling to come up with anything to say that could break the silence. I considered whether to ask Cassie about her family while we were still in the car, but I preferred to see her face when I did. That way I could see her reactions and tell if she was lying or how she was feeling.
When we got into the house, we made our way into the living room and sat down in the sofa. I turned to face Cassie.
"I'm sorry about worrying you today, but I had some things that I needed to take care of. I need to ask you some questions and I need you to be honest with me"
"I will try my best"
"I discovered something strange yesterday, but I am not completely sure what it means but I need to know about your family"
"I thought you and Nick was old friends." she asked questionably.
Of course, she would think that I am talking about Nick. I should have phased it a bit differently, but I guess I was not thinking completely straight, especially considering my lack of sleep.
"We are, but that's not the family I need to know about. Did you know that Leah is a witch?" I asked while watching Cassie's reaction, I could tell that she seemed a bit confused and uncomfortable.
"Um, yeah she developed her magic almost two years ago when she turned 16, I didn't know that she was a witch before then though"
That answered my suspicions for why Cassie had not freaked out the other day.
"And what about Mark and Set?"
"Well Mark is a shape shifter and Set is Marks biological brother, so I assume he is probably one too, even though he's not able to shift yet"
Why had I not picked up on Mark being a shape shifter. He sure had the traits for it. Guess I needed to try to get a read of him tomorrow. It should not be too hard, considering that he has been bothering me since day one, but I guess him being a shapeshifter could explain that.
"What about Abigail?" I continued with my questions.
"I don't think she is anything supernatural, but she never seemed scared. She always tells Mark and Leah not to use their abilities and that we shouldn't tell anyone about them. According to her we are being hunted. But I always thought that was just to try and keep us in check"
Maybe Abigail knows something. However, the main question is, is she really just human or is she pretending to be one and hiding who she really is? I probably need to start keeping an eye on her.
I looked up from my thought and found that Cassie was looking at me.
"Would you like to stay for a bit?" She looked a bit confused, maybe she was wondering why I asked all those questions. I did not want to worry her though, especially if it turned out to have nothing to do with her.
"I will tell you about it when I figured some things out"
Like if I figured out that she was actually in any real danger. The thought of losing her, made me scared.
"How about we watch a film? Pick any film you want"
She looked at me a bit confused. "How about one of the avengers' film?"
Within a few seconds I was holding the DVD in my hands. I guess part of me wanted to show off a bit. I also conjured up some popcorn and coke.
It was tempting to put my arms around Cassie while we were watching the film, however she seemed a bit uncomfortable and kept her distance from me on the sofa and I did not want to upset her, so I refrained from it. Ever since I talked to Nick, I had tried to tell myself that my feelings for Cassie does not matter. I needed to keep her safe, and it was probably easier to do that if we were just friends.
After the film have finished, I decided to drive Cassie home. The whole evening had been a bit awkward and quiet. Before she got out of the car, I asked her if she wanted to meet up on Wednesday to practice her abilities some more. I really wanted her to be able to control them, and the sooner the better, especially if whatever was going on was related to Cassie somehow.
"Sure, will I see you in school tomorrow?" Cassie asked me a bit concerned. I gave her a cheeky smile.
"Yeah you won't get rid of me that easily"
She moved over and gave me a hug, and the electric shock goes through us, memories of us on a field flashed through my mind. This time I could tell that it was definitely Cassie, she looked a bit different and her hair was blonde instead of brown, but her eyes were the same.
What was that about? Freya had said something about two souls being woken up. I had no idea what she meant by that, but something was obviously happening between me and Cassie. Part of me wondered if Cassie had these flash backs too or if it was just me that had them. However, I felt like it would be too intimate to ask her about it at the moment.
I drove out of Cassie's driveway and back towards my house, but I had promised Nick that I would look over Cassie at all times, so after a few miles I ditch the car and turned into a bird and flew back to Cassie's house. While I was in the air, I put my energy out, to see if I could pick up on anything as I now knew that Cassie's siblings were supernatural, and if it was not for the house and whatever enchantment it had, I would be able to feel them. However, as expected, I could not feel them, or anything else that seemed out of place.
I landed in the tree that was situated in Cassie's garden. It gave me a direct view of the driveway from here, so I would easily see if anyone gets into the house. Unfortunately I could only see Cassie's window from an angle, meaning that I would not be able to see if anything was happening in her room, but with my extended bird hearing I should be able to detect any loud noises or struggles.

Leah turned up a few hours later. She told us that they had decided that Mark and Set were going to stay at home as hopefully that would keep Abigail from becoming suspicious. That did mean that the wolves would have to look over Cassie without Mark, however he had already texted them and told them to meet us down at the cabin.
His Daughter's Saviour Chapter 47: Remembering the past
I was enjoying my flight, knowing that Cassie was safe in my house with Leah protecting her. It made me feel less worried, especially after the defensive display of magic that Leah had manifested by instinct when we were sparring. I knew she still felt bad about it, but in all honesty, it was nothing. If I had been prepared for it, I would have been able to deflect it. My fighting skills go way beyond some elemental magic.

I teleported us back to the house, but when we got there the house was empty. I started to panic, but Leah told me to calm down. "The wolves would not have wanted to come inside." She said as she walked towards the back garden, I followed her outsi
His Daughter's Saviour Chapter 45: Research
Cassie and I spent some time just being close to each other after the others had left. Having her remembering her past life helped, and she forgave me for not telling her that I am a demon. After living through Katie's life, she realised why I had been so reluctant in telling her. She also realised that I am different from other demons and that I would do anything for her.
His Daughter's Saviour Chapter 44: Back to Reality
My consciousness slammed back into my body again. It took some time for me to realise that I was back with Cassie by my side. "We had a baby." I whispered quietly, mostly to myself. "A beautiful baby girl." Cassie turned to look at me. "It was you, it was always you, in my dreams. I wasn't sure, but it was actually you. It actually happened."
His Daughter's Saviour Chapter 43: Time to say goodbye
Two days later the ceremony for Katie's passing was on its way. Katie's parents were reluctant for me to attend, as it had to be held in the temple, which was a place I was not allowed to visit. On the morning of Katie's ceremony, I was in the hospital, looking over our baby girl Leah, while awaiting confirmation about the situation. Katie's parents had told me that they understood my need to say a proper goodbye to Katie, so they were having a meeting with the elders to discuss the potential of allowing me into the temple this one time. After a lot of waiting, I finally got the word that I was allowed to attend, however little Leah was not allowed to leave the hospital, so I would ha
