Chapter 6

{Vanessa's POV}

Perfect. I noticed as I was mingling, I saw that Hailee went upstairs. I excused myself and crept my way upstairs. I barged into Derek's room and couldn't believe my eyes.

 "Oh. My. God"

In my disbelief, I see Derek and Hailee on the bed. Derek was shirtless and on top of Hailee. They immediately stopped as soon as I came in.

 "What the hell?!" I shouted.

 "Oh, shit," Derek said.

He got off of Hailee and walked towards me.

 "Vee, I'm so sor--,"

 "NOT ANOTHER WORD," I screamed. "So, this is your big secret? You two are having sex?!"

"Yes, this our big secret, blah blah blah, Nancy Drew solves the case once again," Hailee says sarcastically. But come on Vanessa, don't act like this doesn't work out perfectly for you," Hailee said, as she walked closer to me.

 "Excuse me?" I asked.

 "Do you need me to spell it out? You and Tyler, you can finally be together," Hailee responded.

 "Tyler is a--"

 "A friend, yeah I know," Do you think I'm a fucking idiot?" Hailee said. "People from a mile away could tell you had feelings for my boyfriend, but don't worry. . .you can have my seconds." 

I felt sick to my stomach, my best friend and my brother, together. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I felt betrayed and hurt, I wanted to cry but that would only make Hailee happier.

 "I'm going to tell everyone about the slut you really are," I choked on my words.

 "No one's going to believe you! Besides, I made you, I could take away the little power you have in that school. Don't test me," She growled.

I looked down at the floor, she was right. No one would believe me, Hailee was popular and I was just her little project, she didn't care about me, she just used me. I felt my blood boil, all these feelings were bottled inside and I finally had enough. I used all my force and slapped her across the face. 

 "GET THE HELL OUT! I barked.

She chuckled and looked at me, "You're a bitch," she snarled. She walked out of the door and left me and Derek alone.

 "How could you do this?" I asked. He looked at the floor and kept quiet. "ANSWER ME," I shouted. 

 "I'm so sorry, Vee," he whispered.

 "Well, I'm sorry too. I'm sorry that I ruined your little rendezvous with Hailee, I'm sorry for being a "nosy bitch", and I'm sorry that I tried to be a good sister!"  

 "Are you gonna tell Mom?" He muttered.

 "No," I shook my head. "You are, and you're gonna tell her everything,"

 I could see the tears swelling up in his eyes, but I didn't care, he deserved this. I slammed his door behind me and went to my room. "Mystery solved," I said to myself.  I screamed into a pillow and cried. I didn't want this to be true. I opened myself to Hailee, someone who never even bothered to do the same. She was my friend, but not any longer. I hated her and I wanted her out of my life forever.  

 I rushed downstairs and told everyone to leave, I couldn't stand being around people right now, I wanted to be alone. I told everyone to leave. As everyone was leaving Tyler grabbed me by the shoulder,

 "Hey, is everything alright?" Tyler asked.

 "Yeah, everything's fine, I just. . . need to be alone," I answered.

 "You know you can talk to--,"

 "I know, I just want to be by myself," I interrupted.

 "Oh, ok. I'll see you Monday, I guess," Tyler caressed my arm and walked out the door. 

 I closed the door behind him and took a deep breath, what was I going to do? I couldn't think, my mind was spinning with all these thoughts in my head, How was I going to face Hailee, was Derek going to tell mom the truth or would I?  Feeling dizzy, I rested my head on the couch, I was drifting off to sleep until I heard Derek come down the stairs. 

 "Can we talk?" I heard him say. I didn't respond.

  "Mad?! Mad doesn't even begin to express how I feel right now," I said bitterly.

  "What do you want me to do, huh? I'm trying to fix this!" he shouted.

 "You wanna know what I want? I sat up from my dormant position. "I want you to stay the hell away from me, and when Mom gets here, I want you to tell her what happened. 

 He scoffed and shook his head, he went back upstairs and slammed his door. I sighed in frustration and laid back down. After an hour, I heard the sound of my mother coming inside the house,

 "I'm home! She looked around to see the house a complete mess. "Why didn't you guys clean this stuff up?! she said annoyed. 

 "I'm sorry, I'll start cleaning," I said.

 "And where's your brother? Derek, come down here and help your sister!" she yelled.

 He rushed downstairs and he looked at me, I could see how nervous he was, he was shaking and he was blinking frantically. I gave him a nod signaling him to tell mom the truth.

 "What is it honey," she said looking puzzled.

 "You're gonna want to sit down," I said.

She dropped her purse on the floor and came to sit next to me on the couch. 

 "Well, I'm waiting," she said.

 "Uh, you remember Hailee right, Vanessa's friend?" he replied.

 "Yeah, what about her?" 

 "Um, me and her. . .we've been having. . .s-sex," he muttered.

My mom chuckled and shook her head. 

 "W-what, what do you mean having sex," she looked at Derek with puzzling eyes.

 "We've been sneaking around, hanging out and stuff," he said.

"Are you kidding, because this is not funny," she said covering her mouth.
