Chapter 14- Watched
Author: Klara BethTravis just couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched. Could it be the cheerleaders always offering to take care of his ‘needs’? It could be, but this felt different somehow. It was like someone evil was watching him but he had no idea why that would happen? Everytime Travis looked around or really entertained the idea he was being watched, he didn’t see anyone there. He began to think he was just paranoid and let the idea go. Travis went to class, played football, and studied. That was the extent of his activities ach week; he didn’t party, he didn’t work, and he didn’t date. To get into medical school, he had to keep his GPA up. Medical school was too important to allow anything to distract him. Sure, he went back to the pack most weekends and let his wolf out, but it was less than an hour away. Allowing his wolf to run on weekends gave him better control to live as a human and control his animal side during the week. Regardless how he felt about living in the pack dormitory, he missed the closeness to others of his kind. Travis also missed the feeling of being an important part of a whole. That’s what a wolf pack was, a whole with parts that functioned to make the whole pack stronger and healthier. Travis’s job in that pack was to become a doctor. It was also a possibility Travis may eventually be called upon to accept the Alpha position, but he sincerely hoped that was a long way off.
Travis couldn’t help but think of all the things he hoped to accomplish in his future before he would give up his life as an Alpha for his pack. That’s what Travis had witnessed his parents do after they took over. The former Alpha had been killed in a terrible accident, and Travis’s father being the stand up, responsible wolf/man he was, took over the pack as a young wolf of only thirty winters old. Travis was about ten at the time and remembered most of it well. Travis hopes to have a mate one day that he adored and loved as much as his father did his mother. As of now, he would keep Susan on his short list, because she was one fierce she wolf. In fact, Travis could not remember responding like he does to her for anyone else. Susan did not seem all that interested in getting to know him, but then Travis didn’t have time for dating anyway. He would of course do his job and spend time with her on Saturday. Heck, he may even enjoy it, but he had too many obligations for anything to come of it right now.
As Travis went to enter the main door of the college fraternity he and his teammates belonged to, his senses flared again with the feeling he was being watched. Looking back, there was a man across the street that appeared to be looking at his phone. Travis thought he saw that man in the library earlier too, when he gave Susan her invite. What the heck, was he being followed? Although he couldn’t see the man’s face, his appearance was similar, maybe identical to the man from the library. Travis decided he would start paying closer attention here on campus even though he was only aware of two wolves, Susan and himself in the whole college. Maybe it wasn’t wise, but Travis simply didn’t see humans as a threat due to their inferior strength, speed, and senses. If Travis could scent the man once, he would know if he ever crossed his path again. Unfortunately the man was over across the street and down wind. Travis went in the door, up the steps to his room, and remained within the fraternity just like every other night after practice. Since the fraternity was full of athletes, their house was right next to the gym which was adjacent to the athletic fields. It made life much easier, not having to worry about driving and parking everytime he left the house. Honestly, if it weren’t so convenient and made such financial sense, Travis wouldn’t live on campus at all.
Travis began to study and before he knew it, it was time for bed. 8AM classes came whether he liked it or not.

Susan arrived home after class to help with supper preparation; she received numerous congratulations from the ladies and men in the kitchen, on her engagement. Alpha Gannon said, “congratulations little sister,” and enveloped her in a huge hug. She hadn't really studied her new engagement ring until she was sitting in class and admired the ½ carat, pear shaped solitaire diamond with a gold band that sat proudly on her ring finger. Smiling at the memory of Travis’s proposal, Susan ran to take a shower before supper.

I’ve really missed our study sessions lately,” Brad whined while sticking his bottom lip out in a pout for effect.

Travis had been excused from classes and football due to his father’s death; upon his return, he was trying hard to get caught up. Susan had been scarce at home due to classes and work, and Travis wanted to do something special to surprise her. Today, Travis was in the library working. After almost an hour, Brad walked through the door of the library and took a seat at one of the larger tables. Travis continued to watch, in hopes that if her best friend was here, so would Susan be. Brad appeared to start working on his work when a young, energetic, female with a high pitched voice sat down next to him. Brad looked up from his computer and said, “h
