Chapter 52

Kim getting Blake mad had nothing to do with her being superior in front of Jessica.

Jessica thought that Kim came by to teach Winson, so she barely cared about what she said. On the contrary, Kim did not come because Blake had told her to or for the project. Instead, she was only there to distribute the invitation.

She took two invitation cards out from her bag and put them in front of Jessica. “It’s my mother’s birthday tomorrow, and my father wants to throw her a party. I hereby sincerely invite you and Mr. Ferguson to attend my mother’s humble birthday party. Please do come.”

Jessica looked down at the red invitation cards and stayed quiet. She did not give Kim a reply immediately.

She was not allowed to attend any kind of dinner, party, or event. Kim had worked for the Fergusons for some time now, so she was quite close to Lady Cecilia. Therefore, it was unlikely that she did not know Jessica was forbidden to attend public events.

Therefore, Kim giving Jessica the invitation was actually an insult. Jessica really could not feel the sincerity from her.

It was then that Miss Susan brought some bird’s nest out from the kitchen and asked Jessica, “Ma’am, why don’t we cook some bird’s nest in the afternoon?”

Blake had told her to take care of Jessica’s condition. Although she had prepared some fish maw soup for Jessica before this, Jessica had refused to drink it because of the fishy taste.

The moment Kim noticed the bird’s nest, she thought of the huge presents that Joe brought into Blake’s office the other day.

‘It seems like Blake gave the presents to Jessica.’

She looked at the bracelet on her wrist and suddenly felt sour. After all, she had to hint and practically ask for the bracelet.

When she had dinner with Blake the other day, they had walked past a jewelry shop in the mall. Then, he had told her to pick one that she liked. Kim had been over the moon back then, and when she selected her favorite, Blake had said it would be a reward for her idea for the project.

Today, she was dropping by to distribute the invitation cards because she wanted to repair the relationship with Blake.

Kim had gotten permission from Lady Cecilia to do this. Otherwise, given how the Fergusons treated Jessica, she could never appear in the public eyes for the rest of her life.

Therefore, Jessica might have to thank Kim for having the chance to attend a party although it might be her first and the last time to appear in public as Mrs. Ferguson.

Kim felt great whenever she thought about what could happen the next day. She looked at Jessica and then at the bird’s nest while she feigned jealousy. “Wow, the bird’s nest must be of high quality. Is it from Mr. Ferguson?”

Miss Susan glanced at Kim, not knowing why the woman would react so strongly to the bird’s nest. Was it not common and natural for a husband to give his wife some bird’s nest?

Because Kim knew what Miss Susan was thinking, she pinched some bird’s nest with her fingers and said, “This bird’s nest looks a little familiar…Oh, I remember it now. When I was talking to Mr. Ferguson in his office the other day, Joe brought them in. He said it was from some client. Mr. Ferguson is really sweet to Mrs. Ferguson.”

She put the bird’s nest back into the container and clapped her hands. Her bracelet gleamed for a moment as she put her fingers around it and gushed, “By the way, Mr. Ferguson is really a meticulous person. He picked this bracelet for me himself.”

While Miss Susan might be slow, even she grasped the meaning behind Kim’s words.

‘This woman is trying to upset Ma’am! She keeps blabbering about the bird’s nest from the clients and comparing it with the bracelet Sir picked for her. What else would it be if she’s not trying to hurt the husband and wife’s relationship!?’

Miss Susan glanced at Jessica and noticed that her lady boss looked slightly pale while her hands gripped her chopsticks tightly.

However, as a servant in the house, Miss Susan was in no position to say anything, hence all she could say was, “Mr. Ferguson is always a caring husband. When he knew that Ma’am was feeling unwell, he told me to prepare more supplements for her.”

Kim had been lying in the first place, so when she heard what Miss Susan said, she got upset and clenched her teeth.

In her opinion, Jessica was mute, and no matter how many supplements she ate, she still would not be able to speak!

Blake ‘tortured’ Jessica for the whole night, but after she fell asleep, he stayed awake.

He had a friend who had a private estate outside the city, so he visited the place early in the morning to fish.

Although he might have gone to the estate to fish, when he sat down on the bench, he simply tossed the fishing rod into the pod before he laid down with a book over his face. He might or might not be asleep.

The estate owner was Moses Joseph.

Ever since Blake got married, he spent less time with his good friends.

On the other hand, Moses was a playboy, and he just had a party in the estate with his friends last night. He went to bed late at night and only heard from his servants that Blake was visiting the estate in the morning.

He headed to the fishing pond in his pajamas. He took a peek at the pail but only saw some water. Not a single catfish had been caught.

Moses sat down on the bench beside Blake and squinted his eyes at the glistening pond.
