Chapter 07

"Mum what do you mean dad is still alive?" I questioned her trying to patiently wait for her to reply to me as soon as possible.

"There's something you must know for your own sake now and i wish I told you before but since you were blind... I feared for how you would feel but now I think you have proved to me that no matter what, in a crowd of nobody is somebody" she says and paused for a while.

"I understand mum, just tell me what you meant and how possible is that already" I said to her waiting for the main word juice.

"You have a gift, Oliver, and it is because you are special, Oliver," she says as she comes closer to me.

"Your father is still alive because I spoke to him after he left us" she says holding my hand.

"You spoke to him where?" I asked her and she inhales and exhales.

I code her physical behavior.

"Your dad isn't like human Oliver, he had these weird abilities to breath under water and he once took me into the ocean and showed me a world I had never seen before" she says to me and then I continued.

"You mean he is a mermaid?" I asked in a rush.

"No, he is not like a half man half fish kind of thing... He looks human but with powerful abilities that were not ordinary" she tries to explain to me.

"Mum so you knew these all these years and acted like you never believed my story why?" I asked her voice seemed timid now.

"It was for your protection, there's an enemy of your dad who made us lose him and if she finds out that you are still alive and would be turning eighteen tomorrow... She would definitely come on a serious note to kill you" she explains.

"Your dad came to talk to me the other day concerning your marking day, he said that you would have to take your place in the ocean and that an enemy would arise to destroy you after the ocean marks you" she explains further to me.

All the words she was pouring on me was making me feel like I was still dreaming and my mum was actually saying rubbish.

"Mum? You do know that I am blind right?" I said to her feeling frustrated at her words that were not making sense to me.

"I know your condition and I cannot tell what would happen since your dad still wants you to get marked even so you are blind" she replies casually.

"I know it's already bed time mum and I hope all you are saying is some bedtime story that I do not need to think too much about?" I said casually too because I could not believe the fact that my dad is alive.

And she's saying it like I knew about it since I have been with her.

"No! I swear to god! I am so sorry that I did not tell you earlier, well... Sometimes he comes in the form of water and other times he appears in the mirrors" she explained further.

It was then I started to recall all my falls, I never really had a bad fall.

"I remember when I was coming down from the stairs and I slipped just for something like water to hold me" I said and she held me.

"That is your dad sweetie, he protects us, most especially you because he has plans for you and that's the reason I do not do everything for you cause he does a lot for you as well" she says and my thoughts began to go to how the paranormal life of things were.

"Is he here now?" I asked and she kept silent for a while.

"No he isn't here now" she replies to me.

"Tomorrow would be your birthday dear, all the family members would be coming and I and if possible your dad would be with you to protect you and guide you when needed throughout the celebration" she says to me so graciously.

"So where would the birthday celebration hold?" I asked in enthusiasm and she sat next to me placing my head over her neck.

"It would be at the beach where it all started" she replies to my question.

"Oliver, there's something I want to tell you about David too," she says and I wait for her to continue.

"David is like you, he's a prince and when the day comes when you shall fight your greatest enemy because careful and watchful of the sides he prefers to stand on and you know what you must do to an opposing party" she says indirectly telling me that David might betray my trust for him.

"David isn't like that, he has done a lot of good things for us, he even loves me and I feel the same thing for him mum" I said to her and shook my arm and held it tightly.

"Oliver! The ways of men is evil! You must not trust any man whether he shows you love or not, the heart of man is not equal so be strong in heart so you won't be wary when the time comes" she says to me and I concur.

"I would take your advice mum, but I can do nothing to him since i am a blind girl and that puts him in all position to hurt me if he pleases for powers" I said to her and she hugs me tightly.

"My daughter, I cannot tell what the future holds for you and David but I know that anything can happen and you cannot trust any strangers, be it me, your dad or David okay?" She says to me and I replied with an "ohm"

"I'd lead you to bed now, and tomorrow you would get a birthday gift I have been keeping for you all these years," she says while walking towards my room and laying me to rest.

"Good night my little angel" she says leaving the room.

"Goodnight mum" I replied to her as she closes the door finally,

"Goodnight my water goddess" I hear the voice of my father and my body cover rolls itself over me and I shake.

My heart beats in fear but it subsides and instantly turns into sadness as I always felt like I was the cause of losing my dad.
