Chapter 06

-Olivers Pov-

"Alright mum, there's no one here now, David is gone and that reminds me... The house smells like food!" I said out loud as I traced myself to the kitchen.

"Oliver, I hope you are not trying to go to the kitchen... Don't you know that you'd hurt yourself since you can't see?" She says like there's something in her mouth.

"You are eating a burger aren't you?" I said smiling and she laughs where she was with her stomach probably shaking like a tank right now.

"Well no, I am not eating burger" she replies to me with the sounds from her mouth making her so guilty that it felt a bit wrong for her to lie to me.

"Mum! How many times has the doctor told you to stop eating burgers!"

"Last time... That was the problem with your blood sugar level!" I said about exploding in frustration cause I knew as time was passing she was speedily eating it like it was some kind of competition.

"Baby! I am so sorry to tell you that most times you just have to break the doctors orders and eat some burger! You thought me that common!" She says and I smiled knowing that she said that because of what I had told her earlier today.

"But mum if your health gets bad, who would take care of me then?" I said out as I sat back down to avoid hurting myself advising her.

The next sound I heard made me concentrate more on this mum of a comedian I had.

"Baby! I just threw it away, you know... I just realized that if I still keep eating burgers it would affect my health and there would be no one to take good care of you or love you except David though" she says like she's about to cry.

"You threw the burger in the waste bin or on the floor?" I asked frustratedly, waiting for her to reply.

"Well..." She says and I shake my head thinking about how dramatic she must have thrown it away after realizing what it meant to hurt her health concerning me.

"Well, that has been taken care of and Yeah I have made dinner, don't go anywhere from where you are okay, I am coming to get you" she says with so much kindness in her voice.

I picked my iPhone which was by my right hand side and I started playing a song by an artist called unstoppable.

I knew exactly where the music app was and the number it was playing so playing my favorite song wasn't a problem.

My mum taps me and I unplugged the earphones as I stood up following her to the dining room.

I sit down waiting for her next instruction and she tucks in my food neck collar to avoid me spilling or messing my body up with the food that I am about to eat.

"Thanks mum" I said as she gave me my spoon and used my left hand to show me where the plate was.

She had prepared rice and beans with stew and chicken, which were root foods but were my favorite together with the chicken and the salad she added just made it Yum!

"David gave me some money secretly for the medicines I lost" she says as I took in my first spoon and I Paused.

"What?" I said surprised at her words.

"Mum you shouldn't have collected his money even so it was for my medicines, like common there are other ways to make money for it as soon as possible and not through him" I said to her and her voice seemed timid the next.

"I am sincerely tired of apologizing to you today but I am sincerely sorry again, It was just a fast money and David isn't that type of person, he cares about you a lot and it's kinda cute" she says as she caresses my hair.

"How many times has he given you money for me?" I asked her and she kept silent for a while.

She is even calculating, oh my god!

"Mum! Tell me so I won't be left out of what is happening in my life and around me" I said trying to get her mind to open up to me.

"Yes, he has given me money for you a lot of times and in fact! he is the one paying our house rent too and I am not supposed to tell you this but I don't want to hide anything from you" she says and my spoon falls from my hand with my jaws opening in shock.

"Jesus mum!" I said stopping.

"Mum you shouldn't have let him do that come on, we are more than that" I said I was about to faint because I didn't feel like myself anymore.

That stupid boy was doing so much for me and I treated him like rag.

"But mum, how about the allowance the government gave out to you from my father's wealth?" I said to her and she began to cry again.

Why do I have such a soft mother God?

"Your medical bill consumed half of it and the rest could not go for house rent, just for food and your clothes together with your education and your continuous medicines I had to buy" she explained and no matter how I tried to woman up... I cried out because it hurt me so much to know that my mum has been suffering for so long but did not tell me.

"We left daddies house... Why?" I asked her and she held my hand but I let it go from her hold as I began to suspect her of being corrupt.

"Oliver we left your father's house because I could not afford the bills, don't you understand?" She says like I said something that weakened her.

"I understand mum, daddies wealth? His bank account income, what happened to it?"

"I'd be able to explain more when he comes back" she says speedily and it was like I was a computer suffering from an error.

"Dad is coming back? Mum!" I said shocked at her words.

"I mean..." She fires her words instantly through me.

"What did you mean mum? what are you hiding from me... About dad? and everything else?" I asked even her spirit to open up to me and just tell me what I don't know.

"Well Oliver... Your dad is still alive" she says.
