Unexpected Encounter

After the evening round, Crystal came out of the ward and headed to the elevator.

"Hey, Doc." 

A smile spread across her face when she heard a familiar voice from behind, strolling towards her. Crystal stopped and turned around "Dr Yejin." Pyo Yejin is my colleague. She is a general surgeon.

She stood before her and gave her a warm smile like she always does. "How was your day?" Like always.

Crystal chuckled. "Yesterday was like today. Today will be like tomorrow. How was yours?"

She pursed her lips as a long sigh escaped her lips. "Not good, So tiring. So many patients today. I still have surgery to attend at 7. You..."

"Hi, girls." A voice chimed in and cut her words off.

"Hi. Dr Alex." Yejin greeted.

Crystal looked at Alex, raising her brows, he was rushing to them... no... not them, it's elevator which was behind them. "You're here."

Alex nodded as he quickly pressed on the elevator's call button. "And I'm late. I need to rush to the operation room. I'll talk to you later." He replied before entering the elevator without wasting a second.

Yejin looked back at Crystal. "Why don't you marry him? He is too perfect." She sneered,

Crystal glared at her. "He is a FRIEND. My best friend." She paused and narrowed her gaze. "Didn't you say you have surgery? It's 7 already."

Yejin took a glance at her watch and her eyes grew wider instantly. "It's really 7." She almost shouted and slapped her forehead. "Sweetheart, I really need to run. First of all, I need to call the nurse Henna. I saw her in the general ward. Bye." With that, she made her way to the ward.

Heaving a deep sigh, Crystal entered the elevator that opened just now. She pressed on the button of the second floor. But before the door was closed, she heard some noise, a group of people rushing to the OT. The patient must be a very important figure. Reporters were following them, bodyguards were trying to stop them.

After arriving at her office, she sat on her chair and started checking the reports of the patients. After about 10 minutes, someone knocked on the door. "Come in." She said.

"Dr Crystal. Our CEO wants you to treat a patient. Are you free?" Mickhel said in a breath hastily as he pushed the door open.

So now I have to treat this patient. But why does the CEO want me to treat especially this patient? Crystal thought as she took her gown and headed to the OT with him following hed.

"He got a gunshot on his arm 9 minutes ago. The size of the bullet was 9 mm. The paramedic stopped the bleeding." He informed her on the way.

"Is he breathing? Imaging, cleaning?" Crystal asked.

"Done. He is breathing but unconscious." Mickhel replied.

"Who will assist me?"

 Mickhel turned to me. "Everyone is there already."

"Too fast." Crystal widened her eyes. For the first time, in this hospital, everything was happening so fast.

"He is the son of our CEO. I think that's why." Mickhel chuckled.

"Does our CEO have a son? Well, I didn't know she was married." Crystal wandered.

She washed her hands before she went into the OT and wore the gloves by the nurses.

Her assistant doctor, George who was already there, came to her. "His blood pressure is very low. No major damage."

"First, we need to cut a little to remove the bullets and debridement in high-velocity damage. Then I'll work bone damages, the bone transplant." She glanced at the cardiac rhythm monitor and then at the nurses. "Tell them to manage the blood." The nurses nodded and one of them rushed outside.

"Let's start." With that, Crystal walked to the operation bed and froze in her position when she gazed at the patient who was lying on the bed.

Rayan! 

It's really him.

Her heart attached to all types of emotion. Shocked, nervous, anxious, sad, angry. She felt everything in this world. Her whole body trembled, her eyes started welling up. The wound on his stomach made her heartache bad, She felt suffocated. 

How can fate play with me like this? I never thought we'll meet again... like this. I will treat his wound. But how? My hands are trembling...and tremendously. It never happened before, never!

"Are you okay?" George asked warily as one drop of tears escaped her eyes.

Hearing his voice, Crystal came back to her senses. She clenched her hands into fists and nodded. "I have to be okay." 

You're a doctor, Crystal. Be the strongest stone. Come on. Be professional.

Taking a deep breath, She sat on the seat and took a scalpel, placing it on his stomach. "Ready." I can do this.

In these years of my career, I never experienced this, healing that person's wound who created the wound inside my heart.

I'm an orthopaedic surgeon. I'm good at my work. Of all surgeons, people want me to treat them. When patients come to me I always tell myself I need to heal them. And I can do this. Patients get anxious when they see me in the operation room. They get anxious about death. 

"I will not kill you. You'll be able to murder me if the operation goes wrong." That's what I always tell them. I meet many different types of patients daily.

Today, the person I want to forget every day is my patient now. Once I love this man, more than anything. More than everything. I'm healing his wound when I'm the one who has a deep wound creating by this man a long time ago.
