24th December, 1998

In an old abandoned warehouse, downtown Washington D.C housed one of the most deadliest terrorist group. This group was responsible for so many notorious activities sometimes targeted at places of interest or people who had in one time or the other had some form of disagreement with.

The group was headed by a man; Joel Gustav, a dangerous man. 'JG' as he was fondly called by his close allies was in his late forties, heavily bearded, tall and built and he spoke with a thick German accent. He was a lone man, having no wife or children.

JG's eyes are like no one else's. At first, you'll think they're utterly devoid of colour, a pale grey that reminds you of a winter sky about to unleash a truly biblical storm, but if you look long enough, there is the faintest hint of blue there.Just enough blue to give you some sort of forlorn hope, just before he crushes it completely.

He was a man of power not only did he control the most feared group, he was also one of the wealthiest men in the country. He owned a chain of businesses spanning across the country and other counties.

Some referred to him as the 'money god' while others said he is the 'money' himself. There are other crime bosses in Washington D.C, even a few other German ones, but none of them exuded much power and influence as Gustav does.

A lot of speculation were published in the papers about him, some say he kills his enemies with his bare hands, others say his mansion has a vault stocked floor-to-ceiling with gold and the government doesn't dare try to arrest him because he has so much money he could crash the economy.

The last one isn't true though because there was a time he got arrested for some questioning but was released just after two hours with profuse apologies from the officer handling the case. Ever since then, they've learnt to tread carefully around him, waiting for the perfect opportunity to catch him in the very act.

Passersby looking at the warehouse would come to the conclusion that its an old, forgotten house, a place no one should be, but little did they know that the inside told a different story. With a kitchen half the size of a tennis court, a garage with the latest cars and an indoor pool. The warehouse was no house but a palace.

Sitting in a golden chair in his private office, Joel gently tapped his fingers on his desk thinking about tomorrow's plan. President Rawlings might have forgotten who he was but Joel was a man to never forget things. He and the President had a long history, dating back to when they were in high school till college. He couldn't forget so easily the memory that still haunts him till today. The memory of his sister; Anna Gustav drowning at a pool party organized by their college mates.

Though, President Rawlings was under the influence of alcohol when it happened, Joel still couldn't shake off the feeling of watching his only sibling die. He couldn't believe Freddie pushed her in knowing fully well she could not swim. Though he was drunk when he did it, Joel still blamed him for what happened.

Ever since then, he vowed to take him down one way or the other and now...with the President's daughter coming to the party, he was beyond happy that at last he could avenge his sister's death.

He sat back, smiled inwardly muttering:

"This is just the beginning Freddie, welcome on board".

Bloody Christmas   Chapter Forty one

27th January, 1999The Safe HouseLanaHome felt so good, so relaxing and so at peace. I've never felt so at ease in a long time. The clock above me struck 8 as I lazily got out of bed, heading to the bathroom to do my business. When I was done, I made my way downstairs as the pleasant smell of bacon wasfted in. On getting to the kitchen, I met mum and dad on the kitchen island, drinking steamy coffee. "Morning mom, dad" I beamed, so happy to see my parents. "Morning honey. Did you sleep well?", mum said, smiling as she handed me a cup of tea. " Yes", I said.I turned to face my dad but the look in his eyes told me that something was very wrong. "Dad, what's wrong?", I asked, setting my tea cup aside. He looked everywhere else, avoiding my eyes altogether as his gaze fi

Bloody Christmas   Chapter Forty

26th January, 1999Undisclosed locationJoel "Has Gregor received the money?", I asked, facing Lionel who was acting a bit awquard at the moment. I didn't know the deal with him or what his problem was. " Yes boss", he said, a bit nervous.I sighed, knowing I'll have to find out one way or the other. "Lionel, what's the matter?".He was a bit startled, surprised that I asked after his well being. "Its nothing boss. I'm fine", he said.I sighed, yet again. He was hiding something that I'm sure of. This behavior of Lionel's was very strange and disturbing. This is not the Lionel I know, the boy I trained singlehandedly. I had no idea where this attitude and nervousness was coming from but I couldn't dwell on that, there was work to do. A whole lot to do so he better get his shit together or face my wrath.

Bloody Christmas   Chapter Thirty Nine

25th January, 1999(evening)The Safe HouseFreddie RawlingsI can't believe she's back. My daughter is finally home. This morning, a hooded figure accompanied her to a spot very close to the safe house. I was confused as to how they knew where the safe house was located, seems like Joel knows everything going on around him. I wouldn't put it pass him to even know where my extended family lives.Lana arrived in a black van with a bunch of JG's goons, talk about typical cliché. They dropped her off with one of the secret service agents who then brought her home. I still wasn't allowed to go out until after my trial. When I saw her, I was a bit surprised that she was looking somewhat healthy. Apart from a few scratches here and there, she was actually fine. I would forever remember the joy on Samantha's face when she saw Lana, the tears of joy streaming down her eyes as she held her in a crushing embrace. I could tell from the look on her face that sh

Bloody Christmas   Chapter Thirty Eight

25th January, 1999Undisclosed LocationLanaI'm free. That's the first thought that came to my mind immediately I woke up this morning. I could feel it. Today makes it one month exactly since I was kidnapped, a month of tears, anger and sadness. At a point, I didn't even know if I'll be released.Joel sure surprised me when he told me that I'll be going home. That came as a shock, a big one at that. Stretching my tired limbs, I stared at the window looking at the sun which had come up so early. Today was going to be a good day, I was sure about this. There was a light knock on my door. It could either be Joel or one of his goons. I wasn't ready to face them yet. Damn! I'm still in my pyjamas. Rushing to my feet, I quickly made my way to the bathroom, splashing water on my tired face. I quickly made my way to the door. Throwing it open, I came face to face with Lionel. Ok... I didn't expect him to be here this early. The memories of our last encou

24th January, 1999(evening)The safe HousePresident Freddie RawlingsIts been two days since Matt announced my impeachment. Two days of terror. Currently, Samantha and I were at a safe house after we were told to leave the white house.Looking back, I really missed the house with all the memories that was formed. I missed my office, missed the kitchen and the cute little coffee maker that was a life saver. Hell, I even missed some of the secret service agents. Now, we were only assigned two.The events that took place at the Congress yesterday was still fresh on my mind. The utter fear I felt, standing in front of all those people, the hate in their eyes as they stared at me with disgust. Already, I could tell that they had judged me with their eyes. Each hate filled whisper I got broke my heart the more as I was being ushered in. I was like a lamb being led to the slaughter house, feeling the penetrating gaze on my back.I had been impeach

Bloody Christmas   Chapter Thirty Six

24th January, 1999Undisclosed locationLanaI've been locked up here for a week now. I've had little to no contact with Joel or Lionel. Heck, I didn't even know what was going on in the outside world. I was being treated as a leper, everyone completely forgetting about me. Except for the occasional meals that one of JG's goons bring to me, I've been pretty much alone. Not once nor twice have I tried breaking out of this damp cellar, it was impossible. It felt like it was guarded by an unseen force. The wait was beginning to get overwhelming especially if you've got no news about what's going on. A noise drifted into my thoughts followed by heavy footsteps making its way to the door. That's odd, it wasn't yet time for my usual meals. Moreover, the footsteps sounded like it belonged to two people. The door soon opened, revealing two of JG's goons. I scrambled to my feet out of fear and shock because I didn't know what to expect. I had no idea
