Chapter Five

Nova

Just like every morning, I made myself breakfast and went back upstairs to get myself ready for work, today, in a black and white checkered short skirt and jacket with a black top beneath.

Well, straight to work was what I thought until this strange number called me. It took a little while to decide if I should pick up the call or not but at the end, I did.

“Nova Lionel speaking, who am I unto?”

“Jordan Myers, good morning to you to” I mentally strangled Jordan and Drey at the same time then, composed myself. I knew he got my contact from Drey. This is strictly business! I reminded myself.

“Good morning Mr. Myers, I am on my way to the company, I guess we can talk then” I replied him while focusing on the road, at least I would protect my dear life.

“That won't be necessary NL, I'm at the studio, and we need you here”. I am not the photographer, neither am I the make-up artist or his manager, why the hell should I be there? And he freaking called me NL! I don't want old memories Jordan, please stop this.

“I have no business there”

“Oh.... Mr. Ramos insisted you be here, guess I will be expecting you here” he replied and ended the call even before I could reply.

The nerve of Drey, he employed me as a manager, when did going to shoots become why job? I am not even doing the job of a manager if you ask me. I am more like their promoter or recruiting officer, well... Maybe partly the job of a manager but gosh!!

I rang up Drey's phone while changing direction in anger, a crazy driver yelled at me “You fool, you ready to die?”

“Mind your fucking business" I yelled back. My driving did not disturb him at all, he was just getting in my business, besides, where the hell is Drey? He ain't picking his calls!

He better not be in the studio cos I am so ripping off his head, that douche! Is this his way of getting back at me?

Well, I will tell you, you know I always will.

Last night Drey called me to come over to his but not on a work night, he claimed to be boss and no one was going to question me bla bla bla but no. He might the boss but I am committed to work, I don't want anyone thinking I got this high by sleeping with my boss, hell no!

I am a hard-working, dedicated woman, I deserve every damn thing I have and the position I'm at, even more. He makes it seem so easy to say but I've got eyes on me, many people on my business cos they want me down, they want my downfall, they don't want me to succeed. So many people I've got to prove wrong, many people I've got to make proud, I can't let any man come in the way of it, especially a man that mean nothing to me.

"You will pay for this Nova, you will" he promised me before hanging up on me, I thought it was his usual 'punishments' not this, he might be thinking he is making me work extra but to me, having to spend a minute with that fool is enough punishment.

I hate his stupid smile, how incredibly hot he looks when he smirks and how handsome he had become after maturity. There is a difference between a cute high school boy and a freaking handsome full grown man! It took all in me not to rip off his clothes yesterday and then I have to be with him today again?

I wanted to show him how far I had gone without him, how little he affected me and how happy I was even after all he did but no! This is difficult, especially when my crazy boss keep matching us up.

Everyone was ready for the shoot but they seemed to be waiting for me, considering the fact that I heard someone say "she is here" when I got in. I wonder what this was.

"Finally Nova" Drey said smiling, so, his crazy ass was here.

"Drey, what the he....."

"Shhhh" he said placing his index finger on my lips, wait that's a dirty pun! Hey Nova, you are working right now, so bad.

"Shem cancelled on us last minute, you will be teaming up with Myers for the shoot today" he explained, I was about talking but he beat me to it. "And no complaints, I'm the boss here" of course, I used my power last night, he is using his.

My eyes went towards Jordan and just like I predicted, he had that crazy smirk on his face. Darn you Drey! Darn you Jordan!
