Chapter 7

Well, she was wrong.

You know when she said I should bid my family goodbye.

I don't have a family, not that I didn't know before but I at least had a little hope.

A tinny bitty little hope that perhaps they'd miss me.

When I got home they were already in their respective rooms, so I decided to surprise them a little.

I went to Sadie's room first, being the one that hates me most she deserves to hear the news first and be shocked.

I couldn't wait to see her surprised face.

I knocked her door. Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock!

'Who's there?'. She grumbled.

'It's me. Your favorite sis'.

She grumbled again. 'What do you want?'.

'OK, coming right away'.

I entered her room and saw her in front of her mirror, cleaning her face caked with makeup.

'Thanks for allowing me in your room, sis'.

'I didn't ask you to come in'.

'Exactly'.

She scoffed. 'Just get on with whatever you're here for'.

I smiled. 'I've gotten a job and I'm leaving to stay there permanently tomorrow, you may or may never see me again'.

I waited for a reaction but got none. I waited again, thinking she was slow on the uptake.

'So...?'

'That's all?'.

'What do you expect me to do'.

'I expected you to be surprised and probably sad that your sister is going away for a while'.

'Well you're right, I'm surprised that you even managed to get a job. But the fact that you're going away forever is just the best thing that'll ever happen to this family. Now get out of my room'.

Others felt the same way to.

Sophie gave me a bored look and escorted me out of her room.

Liza looked relieved and told me not to bother coming home if I managed to lose the job and after that shooed me away from her room.

My dad didn't even bother to look up from his laptop and the only thing he said was 'hmm'.

Don't I have the most caring family ever?

They're just the best family ever.

I moved to my room heads with my head hanging down.

I dumped my packages on my bed. I had gone to a store and bought many clothes that'll be suitable for my new job so I brought out my suitcase and started stuffing them in it.

I finished packing by 11:00pm, leaving my old clothes there, maybe Sadie will find a good use for it. Tho I suspect the good use will be to burn.

I changed into my PJs and jumped on my bed.

I decided to pray before sleeping not that I do it often.

'Wfglhf'. I said and dozed off.

I yawned and stared straight at the ceiling.

Julia's words playing in my head.

'Go and bid your family and loved ones goodbye, because after tomorrow, you might not be seeing them again'.

Did she really mean that?

Are you seriously asking that?

You saw someone with fangs and you're asking yourself if she meant what she said.

I'll be surprised if you see your next birthday.

Yeah, me too.

I had to agree.

I considered going to everyone and telling them I was pulling a prank on them and will so gladly marry James.

I shook my head. There's no way in hell I'm going to marry that potty faced womaniser.

I'd prefer to spend the rest of my life with Roddy.

That reminded me.

Roddy.

The poor dog will suffer in the hands of Sadie seeing as she hates dogs.

She'll probably have him killed. I wonder how to he managed to survive before I came.

Roddy was just a puppy when I came here and now he's 15 years old.

Too old right? Yeah I know.

I made my way down to where his cage was at the back of the house and opened it.

'Roddy baby, how are you?'. I asked patting its head.

'Woof woof'.

'Aye.. I'm glad you're fine'.

'Woof?'.

'Yes,yes I'm fine too, but I'm not sure I'll be where I'm going'.

'Woof!'.

'Yeah I know you won't want me to go alone so..you're coming with me'.

'Woof woof'. It said and wiggled its tail.

'Don't get too excited yet. I might be leading you to your death, but if I die, we die together right?'.

'Woof'.

That's my boy.

'Now be quiet, we don't want Sadie to know of our plan now do we?'.

On hearing Sadie's name it turned its nose up. We both shared the dislike for her.

'Yes, so let's go'.

I staggered under Roddy's weight.

'Oh dead dear Roddy, whatever do you eat that makes you this far'.

'Woof!'.

'Uhmm--it must be delicious then, but I'm not sure I want to taste it'. I made a face which earned me a glare from Roddy, obviously displeased with me making a face at what he thinks is delicious.

'Sorry sir, so sorry'.

And he forgave me.

How did I know.

He reached out with his tongue and licked my face.

Such a charming dog isn't he?

We got to my room and I stuffed him into a bag but didn't zip it all. Leaving a small space for Roddy to breath.

I rushed to have my bath and dress up quickly.

Wearing a black off shoulder top with black leather tight trousers and I packed my hair up in doughnut.

I smiled at myself in the mirror and picked up the bag in which Roddy was and dragged the suitcase along with me.

The family(notice that I didn't use 'my family'.) Was already eating so I made my way towards them.

'Hi housemates'. I greeted.

Nobody deemed it proper to reply me.

'OK then, bye people'.

I turned to go but was stopped by Liza.

"What's in that bag?'.

'Which bag?'. I asked with my heart beating fast.

'The one you're carrying in your left hand'.

'Nothing'.

'Nothing? Then why are you carrying it?'.

'Err...my clothes are in it'.

'Aren't your clothes meant to be in the suitcase?'.

'They couldn't fit in the suitcase so I stuffed the remaining in it'.

She looked at me suspiciously.

'Bring the bag here, let me have a look'.

My heart was beating so fast that I was scared for it to pop out.

Poor Roddy, it seems fate wants you to stay.

'Let her be'.

That was my dad. I never knew he could be my saver.

'Go now'.

'OK'.

I had reached the door when I was called back by Sophie.

'Take care, will you?'.

'I will'.

She cared.
