Chapter 6 - Movie date

I didn't see him again for 1 week. Was I hoping to? Maybe.

I was busy with my work. Though he used to appear in my thoughts quite often. I had already stalked him on social media but hesitated from sending him a friend request. I believe, men should make the first move. I am old fashioned that way.

I had not heard from him since that day. I had not given him my number. He didn't ask.

I wondered if ever thought of me.

On Friday I was shutting off my laptop happy at the prospect of finally getting a weekend.

My phone buzzed, it was an unknown number. A husky voice called from the other side.

"Hello, I hope you little feet have recovered from the stressful hiking."

"Excuse me who's this?"

"Your chauffeur"

"What?"

"Well I did gave you a ride so technically that makes me your chauffeur."

My heart suddenly started racing "Ishaan !!! It's you? How did you get my number?"

He replied, "I emotionally blackmailed Gaurav."

I laughed "You need not have done that. You could have simply asked me".

"Hmmm, I will remember this next time".

"So what was the urgency which compelled you to ask for my number".

"Actually I need a favor. I am dying to see this movie but I dont have a company".

I said, "Why what happened to Gaurav ?"

He replied ruefully "Why would anyone agree to spend their precious Friday night with me when they can do so with their girlfriends".

I said, "So why dont you do the same?"

"I would love to but currently I am single with nobody to mingle."

He didn't have a girlfriend !!! my heart jumped in a backflip.

"Wait a min you said currently. You mean you had previously ?"

He laughed "better let the sleeping dogs lie. Please will you accompany me to the movie tonight?"

By this time I was out of the office and on my way home.

"Ishaan are you asking me out ?" I asked.

"No, I am asking you out as a friend who will definitely agree to another friend's request."

I said, " Hmm I would have preferred the former but anyways I will go with you."

He chuckled "Cool! Let's meet at your place in the next 20 min."

"Hell no! not so fast. I have not even reached home and I need to get ready."

"20 mins" and he cut the call.

I stood still shocked at myself "Why did I agree? Why was I flirting with him? What's wrong with me ?"

Somehow he brought out the wild child in me.

I rushed home and quickly took out all my best dresses. I rummaged through the pile trying to decide what to wear. I settled on a black skirt and a white silk top. I quickly made up my face in the best way I could and brushed my hair. I was just finished when the call bell rang.

When I opened the door my heart stopped for a minute. Dressed in a checked shirt and jeans he looked dashing.

"Hot is an understatement. He is a bloody inferno" I thought.

His eyes gleamed and he gave me an appreciative smile. I asked him to come in.

Swati was in the living room by then. Spotting Ishaan her eyes were about to pop out in surprise.

"Hi Swati" he greeted her.

"Hi what are you two up to ?" She said looking at us.

I immediately blurted out "Movie we are going to see a movie".

"When did you make a movie plan?"

"Ummm just now 20 mins ago."

Swati narrowed her eyes "Oh !so that's why you were rushing around, anyways have fun".

I left with smirking Ishaan.

"Phew! I wonder what will Swati think" I said.

He said "Why? she doesn't approve of me?"

"I usually tell her all my plans. This was very sudden. Too sudden for me as well. How come you made a movie plan on impulse. you could have informed me earlier."

"To be honest I was hoping to meet you again. Since I didn't see it happening on its own so decided to make it happen myself."

"Really?? but at least you could have told me in advance."

"I agree I had a hectic week so it slipped off my mind."

By that time we had arrived near his car?

" You drive a freaking BMW?" I almost screamed.

Ishaan opened the door and gestured me to sit.

He raised an eyebrow "Yeah why? You didn't like it?" he looked seriously offended.

"Hell no! who can dislike a BMW? Seriously what do you do to afford this?"

He laughed "I got it by honest means I can assure you that and she's my baby."

I rolled up my eyes "men".

"Seriously I really dont know anything about you." I said.

He laughed "I will answer all your queries shoot off."

"Ok, for a start what do you do?"

"I am a computer engineer just like you. I did my MS from MIT. I returned just a month before I met you in Mumbai. Right now technically I am doing nothing! My dad wants me to manage his business. But I have some other plans. In my spare time, I play video games."

I was staring at him dumbfounded. He was brainy and probably filthy rich!

"What are your other plans ?"

"I want to start my own gaming company. In fact, I am already working on it. We have already made a prototype."

"Ah!  Gaming! Now you are talking. It's my dream to be a game developer" I said.

He looked at me surprised " Where were you all my life? Maybe I should hire you."

"Nah! You won't be able to afford me" I replied stretching out on the seat.

He laughed.

"So you have a startup?" I asked.

"Yes, you can call it that."

"How come you are so relaxed? I mean you are not like those perpetually busy CEOs ?"

Ishaa laughed "I am busy when working but I know when to relax and have fun. Why waste whole life working ?"

"Will you show me your prototype ?"

"Of course! Anytime" He replied.

I smiled at him while he drove. I was still in daze perhaps Swati was right. Ishaan was way out of my league, rich, handsome, and intelligent. I couldn't understand why was he wasting time with me?

We reached the theatre. He had booked gold class tickets for Avengers. I looked at him amused.

"Didn't know you liked superheroes".

"I love them" he looked excited like a child.

We watched the movie in silence but even Chris Hemsworth failed to distract me from the Adonis sitting next to me.

My mind was buzzing with questions some for Ishaan n some from myself. I liked him but didn't want to get my heart involved in this.

After the movie which passed on strictly platonic. He didn't even try to hold my hand, we had dinner. He drove me back.

He said "You have been very quiet this evening. What's going on in your head ?"

"I am just tired..."

"Is that all? "

"Ishaan why would a guy like you spend time with a girl like me ?"

"Why? what's wrong with you?"

"Nothing but I am so ordinary compared to you. I mean you are this really successful guy who can go around with, you know any girl. Why me?"

"Is that's what bothers you? "

He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind my ears sending shivers down my spine when his hands accidentally brushed my cheeks.

"Because I like being with you. I can be myself and free with you".

He stopped the car near my home. Before getting down I asked "One more question Ishaan. Have you ever been in love ?"

He looked amused "I dont believe in love Aarya".

"Good neither do I".

He said "No wonder we get along so well" and grinned back.

"Good night Aarya," he said then winked.

I replied, "Good night Ishaan".

I waved him goodbye until his car was no longer visible.
