am2_3 Chapter 20 Suzy Wants to Act in the Bed Scene

The next morning, Suzy woke up to the blazing sunlight streaming into the dining room.

She glanced at her watch and realized that it was eight in the morning.

Rae was cleaning up in the kitchen. When she realized that Suzy was awake, she coldly said, “Miss Mayne, you need to cook for yourself if you want to have breakfast. My master doesn’t usually eat breakfast.”

Suzy grabbed her things and left for work immediately. ‘Why does my body hurt so much? I took the medicine yesterday, so shouldn’t I be feeling better?’

But, she could not care about that now. She grabbed the remaining medicine on the table and left immediately because she was about to be late for work.

When Suzy reached the company, everyone had already assembled on the stage.

“That’s it. Go and pick your roles for the audition later. The director and his crew will arrive soon. Be prepared and give your best performance!” said the agent, leaving soon after.

Everyone was excited and went to choose their roles. Not feeling quite well, Suzy sat on a chair without any intention of moving.

Yvonne walked towards her and handed her a card. “Suzy! I’ve picked a role for you!”

The words ‘bed scene’ was written on it.

Having got what she wanted, Yvonne sneered at her smugly, then turned around and left.

Suzy stared at the card in her hand hatefully. Her fingernails were stabbing into the flesh of her palms but she did not feel the pain. Struggling to get up, she attempted to go and switch to another role.

But before she could even get near the stage, a group of people rushed in and surrounded her. She was completely shocked.

“The director of ‘Youth’ is here! The director of ‘Youth’ is here!”

Everyone got so excited that they rushed toward the stage in a frenzy. Suzy was once again left behind. It seemed like her hope of switching to another role was completely ruined.

As the director’s team had already taken away the role cards, Suzy had no choice but to return to her seat. She was lost in her thoughts while she stared blankly at the card in her hand.

‘Why don’t I just try auditioning? I’ve faced many different kinds of obstacles and I’m still a nobody in the entertainment world. If I manage to be recruited into the team, it could be a wonderful chance for me.’

That said, how could she act shamelessly on the stage in front of everybody? Plus, her head was still hurting badly and she felt quite weak at the moment.

Suddenly realizing that she had not taken the medicine in the morning, she immediately unscrewed a bottle of water and swallowed the pills.

The others were doing their best on the stage in an orderly manner. On the other hand, Suzy was anxious. She watched their performances and saw that there were different kinds of roles such as students, teachers and robbers.

She looked at her role card again. Even being asked to act as a beggar would be much better than trying to act in a bed scene.

“Now it’s the tenth candidate’s turn—Yvonne. Your role is a female university student who has been crossed in love. The eleventh candidate, Suzy, please get ready!”

Suzy jumped in shock. It was almost her turn. But she wasn’t feeling her best right now. Should she still do it?

In the private room backstage, there was a pair of cold eyes staring at the stage.

Everyone knew that the director of ‘Youth’ and his team were coming to the company. But they were unaware of the fact that the sponsor, the CEO of the Moore Group—Fletcher—would be attending the audition too.

Standing in the private room, he observed as everything unfolded. Nothing escaped his notice. He knew which role card Suzy was holding in her hand, and he was also well aware that Yvonne had purposely chosen it for her.

But, he did not plan on interrupting, because he wanted to see whether or not Suzy would shamelessly perform in front of everyone for the sake of fame and money.

Suzy was watching Yvonne’s performance. In fact, having graduated from a performing arts college, she had acquired some basic acting skills. And yet, Suzy felt like Yvonne had exaggerated her acting.

“Thank you!” Yvonne completed her performance and she received a great round of applause from the audience.

Suzy could only shake her head. They were just a bunch of people who constantly fawned over Yvonne. Purposely glancing at Suzy, Yvonne looked smug.

“Eleventh candidate, you’re up. Miss Mayne, the stage is yours.” said the emcee, exciting everyone watching.

“Will Suzy act in that kind of role? How come? She always seems so naive and innocent!”

“Yes, she might have chosen that role just to attract the director’s attention so that he will know that she’s available to be played with. Then, she’ll easily get the role.”

Walking towards Suzy, Yvonne rolled her eyes and gave her a look filled with contempt. Despite her actions, Suzy could not suppress the excitement in her heart.

‘What should I do? If I’m recruited into the director’s team, I’ll be able to pay for Ronald’s treatment!’

The emcee urged Suzy on again, “Let’s welcome the eleventh candidate—Miss Mayne. Come up now for your performance.”
