am2_3 Chapter 2 I'm Valuable

Suzy Mayne woke up all alone in the luxurious presidential suite. The weird feeling she felt all over her body reminded her of what happened earlier.

Looking down, she saw that her entire body was covered with blue and purple marks. She still felt dizzy, but the memories were slowly starting to come back.

Certainly, that man was not Zach.

How abominable!

Suzy gritted her teeth as she swore to herself that if she ever found out who the perpetrator was, she would never let him get away with this.

She peeked at the bedside cupboard next to her. There were two things on it: a cheque and a white dress. She picked up the cheque and glanced at the amount.

A million dollars!

Unexpectedly, it was a million dollars!

What did that man think she was?

Not only had he raped her, he even used money to humiliate her.

Furious, Suzy crushed the cheque in her hand and did not see the words and phone number written on the back. Changing into the white dress, she immediately left the room.

As she walked out, she took note of the room number. It was 2201.

That was the room number Zach had told her. She had not gone into the wrong room.

What was going on? Besides that, something must have been wrong with the glass of water that Yara Chance had handed to her.

Could it be…

Unwilling to believe that what she guessed was true, Suzy shook her head hard.

Night had fallen by the time she walked out of the hotel. The summer night was extraordinarily hot, but Suzy felt a sense of coldness in her heart as she walked down the street.

Zach and her had grown up together in an orphanage. Although they were not blood related, they were as close as a real family. If he had lied to her, it would be meaningless for her to live in this world anymore.

She could not imagine what would become of her and was afraid to endure the consequences.

Soon, she arrived home. Both Zach and Yara were there.

Zach could not hold himself back. The second he saw Suzy and how helpless she seemed, he rushed forward to inquire about her wellbeing.

“Suzy, are you alright?”

She looked up at him with eyes that were filled with a sense of deep despair.

“What’s wrong, Suzy? Tell me!” said Zach, guiltily avoiding Suzy's gaze.

She slowly took a step backwards. “Why?”

Suzy kept her eyes fixed on Zach. They had been living together for eighteen years, and this was the first time that she felt like he was a complete stranger.

Zach looked down guiltily. “I’m sorry, Suzy.”

Suzy turned to glance at Yara, who was standing beside them. With a cold look, she asked, “I assume that the two of you talked it over and agreed on it. Is that right?”

Meeting her gaze, Yara shamelessly replied, “They wanted you. Suzy, I never know how much you were worth!”

Smirking sarcastically, she looked at Suzy viciously.

The confession left Suzy numb. She could not feel the sting of betrayal anymore. She turned back to Zack.

“Oh, it seems that I am indeed quite valuable. Zach, what did you exchange me for?”

Remembering the million-dollar cheque, she could not help but laugh at herself. It seemed that she was indeed worth quite a lot.

“A piece of land in the Eastern Film City,” said Zach in a soft voice.

After what he’d done, he could not bring himself to even look at Suzy. If that man had not pressured him so much, Zach would never have put Suzy in that position.

However, having run out of alternatives, he had no other choice. Working alone in the city, it had not been easy for him to gain what he had today. He could not endure his career being ruined by that man.

Hearing Zach’s reply, Suzy laughed through her tears.

“Oh! That piece of land in the east zone. I guess I really am valuable.”

She had heard Zach talking about that land before. It was worth ten million dollars. Wiping away her tears, Suzy walked into her room and started packing her things.

“Suzy, it’s late now. Where are you going?” Despite everything, Zach could not help worrying about her.

Suzy had mixed feelings after she finished packing up her things, but she steeled herself and looked up at Zach. “That man claimed that he wants to take care of me from now on. So, I’m going to move in with him.”

The lie came to her so naturally. She just could not bring herself to face him anymore.

Zach could not believe what he had just heard. “Suzy, you…”

She smiled icily. “You see. I’m indeed quite valuable.”

With those parting words, Suzy left the place that once housed so many good memories. It was now nothing but a place filled with pain and despair for her.
