I stepped into the first empty room I found, closing the door when Michael followed me in. It was a small office of some kind and I took a seat in a small, blue love seat against the wall. Hugging my knees to me, I began. “I was supposed to be at the dinner that ultimately killed my family, but I was too excited for this road trip that I had planned so I stayed home to pack and get the car ready. Now, I am the only one left. That has to mean something. Like I was meant to be the Luna of this pack.”

I gritted my teeth, doing my best to ignore the burning pain as I lifted the dumbbells into a bicep curl. I had done forty curls already, but Michael said I couldn’t stop until I did another ten. It had been three days since he started training me. Three days that I was in a constant state of soreness. Michael was nothing short of brutal. I had never been a violent person, but now I found myself daydreaming of ways to get him back for all of this.

Instead of going to the medical wing, I decided to let whatever damage Flinn had done heal on its own and went to my room. I sat on the window seat, fighting the urge to cry. Flinn’s words had hit a little too close to home. Why did Michael just stand there? Ignoring the fact he’d let Flinn hurt me, didn’t he care that Flinn had been so close to me? Did he feel any possessive pull or anything else I had heard about or seen in other werewolf men with their mates?

I continued walking down the hall away from Flinn, but clearly, he wasn’t done.“I can’t believe it, you are making excuses for him. I tell you the truth about him and you refuse to see it. How can you be so blind, Alice.”

My mind raced with everything Mario dropped on me. As he left I got a call from Doctor Evans. “Hey Doc, what’s up?”“Hello Alice, I was wondering if you could meet me in the game room. I would like to discuss some things with you.”

The night was cool and clear as we left the pack house. A slip of the growing moon could be seen just above the treetops of the large yard. Michael and I hadn’t said much as we slowly walked around the perimeter of the yard. When we got near the pool, I leaned against the side, dipping my hands into the water. The smell of chlorine made my nose itch. Michael stopped next to me, his gaze up into the stars. We didn’t speak for a while.

I frowned as Mario closed the door behind us. “This must be bad,” I said as I sat down in the large chair behind the desk.“It is,” Mario told me, sitting in front of me. “Evidence has been found, and it suggests the one that sabotaged our systems was Flinn.”

When I returned to the house, I went for a swim. Swimming was my go-to when life was too much. I use to compete when I was in high school and even considered continuing when college was still something I was going to do.Today, however, swimming wasn’t helping. Pro

Leaving my office, I search for Mario, but instead for the next best thing - Koryeon. I had forgotten we had a training session today. One that I was now nearly an hour late for.  “Sorry, I got a call from Alpha Stevens.”My chief of security grimaced. “That must have been fun.”
