There was no noise in the room. It was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The only things that ruined the awkward silence were the breaths the two people present in the room let out. They looked at each other occasionally, both wondering where the doctor who had promised not to take long had gone to.  

It was another day spent with Jack obsessing over that girl. He had been going through some documents, but after a while, his concentration had dropped. The more time went on, it’s like his mind unlocked memories of that day that he had not realized existed. He put down the Gil in his hand and as he was about to take a sip of the coffee Lucy had made him, she burst into his office. No knocking or anything. And there was a big smile on her face. She had something in her hand but Jack paid no attention to it.

Ana sighed and pressed the button on the elevator for the fifth floor angrily. The receptionist at the front desk had called her urgently to come and take Jack Knight. But as soon as Ana reached, the bitch had the guts to say he had already gone up. 

The man was walking towards her now. Their gazes were locked and if Ana was being honest, she knew there was no way she could look away. It was as if the man had some kind of magnet in his stare and it just drew her in. By some miraculous effort, she looked down at her notebook, pretending like she was going through the notes she had made. 

Ana was sitting a little rigidly in her seat. She felt uncomfortable. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the place she was in or that she felt insecure about her appearance. No. It was simply because of the man who was sitting opposite her. He was staring at her like his life depended on it.  

Landon looked at Ana keenly. She was different. She was more fidgety and definitely more excited. And he had asked her why about five times, she didn't want to tell him. Ana felt Landon's stare on her. She had been postponing telling him about Jack. But looked like she couldn't anymore.&n

Lucy looked at Jack's office from the corner of her eye. The man was not the same anymore. It was like he was a different person all together. He smiled and he even chuckled. Chuckled. Something he had never been fond of doing. She wondered who the hell or what the hell had put him in such a good mood.

Ana was sitting in the office and editing the article on Jack Knight. She was convinced it was going to receive a lot of positive reactions. One, it was Jack Knight. Which straight female didn't fantasize a little about him, and which gay boy didn't drool a little? Two, she was convinced she had asked the right questions. Ana knew she was good at what she did. She was passionate about it. It was what she was meant to do her whole life. She had no doubt about that.

Ana stared at the door in shock. She had never imagined for one second that her conversation with Jack would prompt Landon to leave as he had just done. She didn’t know what exactly she had done wrong. It wasn’t the first time she was having a conversation with a potential partner in front of him, and she had been trying to make it short so they could get back to talking.
