'Laa Ilaa ha illallah...!' He heard the adhzan from a very far place, somewhere that wasn't close to him. He slowly squinted his eyes and he was on the prayer mat he prayed on. He had cried an ocean of tears, but still, he felt his soul clogged with darkness.Everything began coming back to him, what he drank, what he did. What he ruined! He clenched his eyes shut and heaved a sigh. Trying so hard to block his mind away from the reality that chased him, he failed. The crowd had dispered when Fadwa’s Uncle looked at him with a small smile that hadn’t reached his heart on his lips. “I’ll take you to the house and I’ll take you two home. Don’t forget the rules, Maheer.” Maheer ducked his head down and nodded softly. He had never felt stranded and trapped like today. He had taken a different diversion from what brought him to Adamawa. He stared at her face and cradled her more into his chest. He couldn’t pinpoint what he was feeling in his heart. It was something he had never experienced, something beyond his thinking. He stood up with her in his hands and he went into the room that was in the living room, she loved the room, that was something he noticed. And he didn’t dropped her until he laid her carefully on the bed and he lifted the blanket on her body. Adjusting the temperature of the air conditioner, he stared at her face and wished he was brave enough to lift her hijab up. But he knew he couldn’t. He didn’t trust himself when it came to Fadwa. And that thought made him took a step backwards.

Badra ran towards him and she pulled him into a hug, she giggled when he lifted her up and screamed as he whirled her in the sky. “Put me down, Ya Maheer! I’m too hungry for this.” He laughed before he pulled her down and pinched her cheeks, no giving a damn about the hungry eyes that were staring at them.“I really missed you, Badra. It has only been a month, but you’ve grown up alot.” He laughed when she pouted her lips and took her luggage from her hand. She entwined their hands together, looking up at him with a smile on her face before she spoke.“Ya Maheer, if I were to tell you how this kaftan looks good on you, it’ll

Badra took her hijab off and she smiled before she looked up at Maheer that acted as if he wasn’t looking at them. It was already time for Asr, and he had just came back from the mosque and met them chatting in the living room. “It’s time for cooking, Fadwa. We can’t cook while you have this hijab on, okay?” Fadwa smiled and nodded her head at her before she spoke, “Ya Maheer won’t look at you wrongly, we promise.”She stared at Maheer’s eyes for confirmation and he nodded his head, “Yes, we promise.” Fadwa stood up and she took Badra’s hand in hers.

They were seated in the living room, already prayed their tarawih and isha prayers together with Maheer, and Badra couldn’t let Fadwa move a bit away from her, she was together with them without moving an inch. She was feeling uncomfortable and they were talking about their family and books they’ve read, and se felt as if she didn’t belong in this conversation. She stood up to leave when Badra called her name.“Where are you going, Fadwa?” she asked, and Maheer’s eyes immediately wandered to where Fadwa stood.“I’m going to my room, I’m sleep and I think you two need some time alone.” She smiled beautifully at he

The kiss was slow, passionate and they took their time exploring the hidden pleasures in their lips. She wasn’t surprised when she felt herself moving together with him as their lips slowly synced, because she had never felt moved by him like today. May be it was because she was sick? Or he massaged her lower abdomen? Perhaps it was the colour of his eyes that changed whatever she had rigid in her heart, because she was now soft and jelly within. When Maheer pulled apart from her, she ducked her head down and began fiddling with her fingers. Wasn’t it too soon? They were only married for how many days now? Perhaps a week? ‘It’s only two days, Fadwa!’ A voice in her head spoke, and she felt as the crimson red she was battling to hide in her heart pa

None of them could move, Maheer looked at Fadwa and she was fast at shaking her head sideways and she took her eyes off from him. “Oh my god! Badra! How could you say that? It’s a no. He was just being considerate, nothing more.” She pinched her laps softly, which expressed that she was shy and Badra should let go of her words.Badra quickly shook her head and held both her ears with a smile. “I’m sorry, you two. It’s just that I feel you’ll make a beautiful couple if you get married. Should I tell Daddy about it, Ya Maheer? He can come over here and ask for her hand in marriage, the proper way.”The next thing Badra felt wa
