CHAPTER 11

.     It was dark, lonely, silent, a cold silence that was occasionally broken by the sound of speeding cars, sounds which were often washed away as fast as they came, then the chill of the quiet reigned again, even the cresent moon had the company of stars, the nocturnal creatures had each other to bother, the spark of lighting had the cackle of thunder, but Alice had no one as she trailed the ever lonely road, it was her sole companion, she had no idea what would happen next, no where to go, she didn't make any attempt to return the numerous calls that continued flooding her phone, her life had drastically changed after Mike walked back into it, her future now appeared like a foggy field, nothing was clear anymore, the other day Mike had come to her house bathered and bloody, and now he was dead, the uncertainties made her sob even louder, but alas, she alone could hear them.

" Promise me you'll take care of her... Promise me !! "     " Don't you do this, don't you dare ! "          " I promise "     " I...love... you " Mike's final words, before his hands dropped weakly, his eyes closed slowly, his heart... stopped.        The nightmares weren't a surprise, it wasn't in her head, it had all happened, the surprising thing however, was that she was still alive, and in a place she had never known all her life, carefully tucked under a blanket, dressed in floral patterned pyjamas, and had band aids on the bruises she had sus

CHAPTER 13

The car sped down the dark lane, its tires brushing against stones and rough sticks, it took a quick wheel onto the busy road illuminated with street lights, head lights, and bulbs hanging off miniature kiosks and table stands, of traders that dealt their business till the break of dawn, it was a rainy evening, the whippers flogged off the rain as it landed on the wheel screen, but despite that, it still looked misty on the inside of the car, compelling the driver to wipe it clear with the back of his hand. They bumped off from one speed break to another, from port holes to puddles, landing hard on the bad road, for the driver and his cohorts they didn't feel much of the impart, but that was more than could be said for Alice. It was as though she was being tossed back and forth in a very unpleasant

CHAPTER 14

Grinnngggg, grinnngg !!, the resonating ring of the telephone echoed as it vibrated on a petite table, followed by racing footsteps as a middle aged caucasian female secretary raced to answer it.    " Hello! social mentor! what can I do for you today ? " she answered politely, trying to sound as welcoming as possible to the receiver on the other end.    " You could lay off the doughnuts, cut yourself some slack ! " the man on the other end of the phone responded offensively, with an annoying laugh.    " Already dealing with the idiots and it's only 8 : 30 in the morning, "she hissed as she dropped the call , followed by the usual recorded laughs that are mostly accustomed to the audience in a sitcom,       James adjusted in his seat as he

CHAPTER 15

The bangs echoed continuously, triggering a whirlpool of anxiety amongst the agents that laid in wait outside the house, chances were the guns had not been fired at him, but rather the opposite, even more alarming was the darkness that suddenly plagued the building as soon as the gunshots ceased, someone had deliberately turned off the power, and if they doubted before, that was proof, he knew they were coming, if nothing else, he was ready for them.         The idea of stealth appeared like a futile effort, Sunday had seen them coming, there was no time for games, using their beam lights, they pushed down the lawn, angling their guns in front of them, in case of any surprises, as they trailed behind each other, pushing against the door, they stormed the building, the first set of three advanced into the house, quietly shifting through the liv

CHAPTER 16

From where he stood on the rail on his balcony, he could see the torrent of the waves, the harsh reclaim of the water, and the frail withdrawal of the beach sands, a frailty similar to the life he had before now, the defeat of the sands, and steady lash of the water somehow unearthed the traumatic replays of how his drunken step father had used his mother as a punching bag, everyday, since the very first day he moved in with them, it normally started with a punch, then another, and another, his fists making a mess of her face. Then he would rip her clothes off, revealing her scarred body, and turn to the eight year old, who couldn't possibly do anything to fight him off, he would grab him by the shirt, and despite her cries that he leave her son alone, drag him down the stairs, jet him across the room, and smash his body against the wall and empty bottles of cheap beer that scattered on the floor, more often than not leavi

CHAPTER 17

Shola tossed the coin up, using his thumb and index finger and it landed on tails on the back of his hand, this was one of his most reliable way of dealing with a problem, or rather a dilemma, he had assisted Fasting's goons in kidnapping Alice, had single handedly prevented Sunday from helping her, and had trapped him in the agency's web, but now he was stuck between the bridges of his next conspiracy, one way or the other he knew Sunday would go after her, and trusting Sunday, finding Alice wouldn't be much of a difficulty, but however, there was his dilemma, how he was going to go about stopping Sunday, bringing us back to why he needed the coin, heads meant he wouldn't have to kill anyone to carry out his plan, while tails on the other hand meant there would be a casualty, seeing as that would be the case he highlighted from the car and proceeded to set his next plan in motion.

His eyes said it all, the madness of a dog in heat, he watched as his partner pulled off the blind fold from her face, and stared as she winched from the sudden brightness of the light, Fasting had made it clear that he didn't want her dead, but hadn't mentioned anything else, all he wanted was a good time, no one had to know, she wouldn't scream, his hands were big enough to cover her lips, and his body was hard enough to keep her from struggling, aroused and excited he reached down to his zipper with his eyes still fixed on her and felt his hardness, he was so hard he couldn't wait to have her, but he needed to be alone with her, just the two of them.            " Who are you, and what do you want from me ? CHAPTER 20

Alice shuddered at the sight of the man who was hellbent on assaulting her, he stood merely inches away from the bed where she stayed defenseless, her cries for help to her invicible rescuers seemed as though they were soft tunes to him as he grinned all so widely at the sight of her vulnerablity, he inched even closer and suddenly stopped, her eyes trailed his hands as they reached for his back pocket, he dug in deeper and then drew his hand out, with what followed being an eight inch long dagger, slowly he pulled it out of the sheet, and dropped the sheet on the floor, as he continued to the bed.              "  What's wrong Alice, you seemed so confident before, what happened all of a sudden ? " he questioned and dropped beside her on the bed, " where is that fire i saw in your eyes earlier " he questioned aga
