ChisomWhenever you get an invitation from an uncle, reject it. Yes, he would take you out, probably give you some money but not without asking some annoying questions.

Chisom"I told you to bring chicken pie, you went and bought chicken suya," Jessie muttered, licking her fingers clean so she could pick another piece of the spicy chicken. "This is why people fail exams, they never listen to simple instructions."

Jessie"As n goes to infinity, this whole thing," I started, pointing to a fraction on the board, "the limit will blow up because it also tends to infinity. Do you understand?"

JessieThe amount of anger that was packed into each knock as I pounded on Somto’s door surprised even me. I clutched my cardigan with one hand and shivered, the cold was finally settling in. I knocked again, forgetting that I was also disturbing his neighbours who were on the last floor with him. I wasn’t doing any thinking, just acting.

ChisomSleep was far from me. Even as I turned and curled into a foetal position, I knew I would not be sleeping anytime soon. Jessie’s mocking laughter rang in my ears and I winced, she thought I was lying, why? She also said to stay away from her. I shook my head. I told her everything, rather than console me, she said that. I already lost Greg, now her.

JessieMy eyelids felt like they weighed the same as a bag of wet cement. The seconds between each blink growing further apart as I struggled to focus on what the lecturer was saying. If not that Somto had an impromptu lecture, I wouldn’t even be here. I spared a glance at my wristwatch and sighed, this class was supposed to be over thirty minutes ago.

JessieI stayed in that position with my hands akimbo, eyes narrowed at the door which the nurse exited from before shaking my head. School clinic was a scam.

JessieNothing made sense to me anymore. I stood outside the clinic with Chisom’s diary inside her bag, why did I bring it here with me? I wasn’t certain I could answer that. Maybe I wanted to see her face when I asked her to explain some of the entries.
